Really these feel like shoes, but from my experience of hiking the AT in these, I fell in love. They lasted so much longer than any other persons footwear I hiked with. The ankle support SAVED me so many times! And the customer service from keen when they finally gave out at over a 1000 miles was top knoch! I’d buy them again and again. If your looking for a boot that has the flexibility of a shoe this is the go to! Way better than altra or topo everyday! At least for me. I had a 10.5 wide and it fit perfectly with either a liner and a sock or just socks, I never felt like me feet were confined or didn’t have the room I needed for the inevitable swelling with hiking that far. I've always been accustomed to trekking in trail sneakers. Still, I jumped over to a genuine hiking boot as my outdoor endeavors grew. Watched plenty of reviews but settled on this one, and I don't regret it. This pair of boots has served me well on the technical rock scrambles I've put them through and many miles of regular hiking. I am a slim 5'7 male with a narrow foot, and I enjoy the wide toe box I never knew I needed! If you are looking for arch support, you will not find it in these boots. The insole contains the text "Arch Support," which is artistically designed in an arch, but that's about as far as the support goes (quite laughable). I’m happy with these - they have excellent construction, needed no break-in, and are very comfortable. I’ve worn them on full-day hikes and to the office. They aren’t overstyled or overly bulky. However, in comparison to my Salomon Quest 4D GTX (which are overstyled and overly bulky), these still feel heavier and less flexible despite being a smaller boot and having the bellows flex feature. The tongue gusset is really low, and while I haven’t had to test that yet, it doesn’t seem very functional. There is also a noticeable ridge of hard material inside the toe box just along the toenail area of my pinky and ring toes, but the toe box is very ample so it tends to not bother me. This was a warranty claim on a pair of boots which didn't last - customer service was incredibly swift to review my case and approve a warranty within a couple weeks. Thank you!So far, these boots are fantastic. Incredibly comfortable, good looking, and lightweight. The bellow flex system is cool, it will be interesting to see how it lasts long term. Bought a pair of Ridge Flex, size 15 to replace my amazing Durands because they were not in stock in my size. The Flex boot is horribly flawed. I mistakenly ordered a 14, that was to tight, returned easily and bought the 15...on the side of too big. The Durands fit perfect. Overall my issues are this...the bellows...bad design...really bad design...it bunches up if you lace the boot tight, I've never felt that I needed my boot to be easier to bend at the toe...ever...in any boot...it gives the structure of the boot a flimsy feel...AND...in my size that bellows is smack dab where my motorcycle shifter sits. I don't like the fit, the sizing is on the large side, they are deficient in stability and really lacking in protection and I'm willing to wager a bit that the longevity under any situation where you have top foot contact, is going to be limited with the bellows. I ordered them then they sat in the box for a month while I eeked the last life out of my Durands...first wear of these I wanted to return, but I was out of the return time frame.

On a bunch bunch of recommendations to the Keen brand, I purchased a set of boots on 10/4/21, and got them 10/12/21, and writing this review on 3/28/22.I got them then under the impression that they are waterproof, as I work in slushy snow most of the winter and lots of water through spring and fall. The fit is really good. I have wide flat feet with a broken toe, and they are still some of the most comfortable boots shape. So that part is a 10/10.However after the first use I realized that my feet were completely wet and even had water in my boot, also the boots do not have any kind of traction in snow and icy conditions. Today I have noticed that the rubber sole is starting to pull away from the what feels like foam.While I am happy with the fit of the boot, these other issues are highly unsatisfactory when a boot with a costs at $200 and only about 5 months old. At this point I do not feel that I can keep using my boot due to all the water I have to work in currently but it leaves me at a loss because I now have to go shopping for new work boots.
Gave these boots a workout walking over the summer on rough ground in the Rockies. Wasn't mountain climb, just moderate terrain.At first I thought that they were too soft to protect my feet. Turned out the soft sole worked great for traction and comfort and protected my feet even though I could feel small rocks thru the sole. My feet always felt great at the end of the day.They are waterproof in snow on rain. Great boots with one problem.The rubber flex feature failed splitting at the hinge valleys. The rest of the boot still in good condition. Correction: I did have to " Shoe Goo" the rubber scuff piece on the side of one of the boots.I would buy another pair without the flex feature but then they wouldn't be "flex" boots.
