The ankle support SAVED me so many times! And the customer service from keen when they finally gave out at over a 1000 miles was top knoch! Iād buy them again and again. Iām happy with these - they have excellent construction, needed no break-in, and are very comfortable. Iāve worn them on full-day hikes and to the office. They arenāt overstyled or overly bulky. However, in comparison to my Salomon Quest 4D GTX (which are overstyled and overly bulky), these still feel heavier and less flexible despite being a smaller boot and having the bellows flex feature. The tongue gusset is really low, and while I havenāt had to test that yet, it doesnāt seem very functional. There is also a noticeable ridge of hard material inside the toe box just along the toenail area of my pinky and ring toes, but the toe box is very ample so it tends to not bother me. This resulted in bruised toes and a couple of lost toenails when descending one particularly steep slope.When tightening the boots down to the point where this movement is reduced, I have found the pressure exerted on my midfoot by the bottom of the lacing is extremely uncomfortable. This is despite the tongue being well padded and trying a number of different lacing methods to no avail.These boots look great, the sole is very grippy and the waterproofing is up to Keen's usual high standards. Despite this, I have now relegated these boots to occasional country walks and travelling where Iām sure they will excel.

Bought a pair of Ridge Flex, size 15 to replace my amazing Durands because they were not in stock in my size. The Flex boot is horribly flawed. I mistakenly ordered a 14, that was to tight, returned easily and bought the 15...on the side of too big. The Durands fit perfect. Overall my issues are this...the bellows...bad design...really bad design...it bunches up if you lace the boot tight, I've never felt that I needed my boot to be easier to bend at the toe...ever...in any boot...it gives the structure of the boot a flimsy feel...AND...in my size that bellows is smack dab where my motorcycle shifter sits. I don't like the fit, the sizing is on the large side, they are deficient in stability and really lacking in protection and I'm willing to wager a bit that the longevity under any situation where you have top foot contact, is going to be limited with the bellows. I ordered them then they sat in the box for a month while I eeked the last life out of my Durands...first wear of these I wanted to return, but I was out of the return time frame.

The next claim, it is the main one - saving on trifles. The seam threads on my boots were torn. At this point I do not feel that I can keep using my boot due to all the water I have to work in currently but it leaves me at a loss because I now have to go shopping for new work boots.

The water proofing sheds water nicely and the stitching looks strong. Almost every seam that can fail is box stitched or double stitched. The boot is pretty light as well at 1 Lb 4.2 oz per shoe (on my scale) but doesn't feel like it is going to fall apart after a season. I don't know if this is real leather or something faux, but it feels real and it feels strong. The lugs in the sole are deep and I didn't notice any real wear in the soles over the last few weeks.Experiences: It's the winter now and I walked in these on roads, to ice and snow and water and loose gravel. These aren't winter boots, but they did a great job of keeping my feet warm, without being too hot. Water just slid right off these like nothing and the grip in the snow and gravel was fantastic. Real smooth surfaces like black ice were an issue, but anything you'd find in the season you're supposed to use these in (summer hikes) should be no issue.Final thoughts: I really like the boot, and while I can't speak to the long term quality, I am happy with what I am seeing and feeling and I really look forward to putting more miles in these. I think most people would be pretty happy with these boots.

Upon lacing up the boots, I was immediately impressed with how light the boots were. I felt as though I could run down the trail as if they were trail running shoes, not boots - a welcome change from other clunky hiking boots that I have in my gear closet. The pair I had dedicated for hunting and scouting are still being used up to present. I have cranked out probably 1000 miles in those boots in hill terrain, marsh terrain, flat terrain, and some rugged rocky terrain. I used and abused these boots and they still dont have a single hole in them. They are still very comfortable and still have use to come. The pair I have for my job has not gotten as much abuse so they are still in excellent shape. My only complaint about the boots is that when they get wet they tend to shrink quite a bit when dried out. Ok, so the boot is wonderful. Fit, great, weight, great, waterproof, great. The only reason I'm giving this a 3 star review is because the Rubber sole of my particular boots are already peeling off. I've had these for less then 3 months and have at least 200 miles on them. Ideally this boot would be even more amazing if they had a 1 piece rubber sole, rather then one with flex points where the glue has failed. i need my boots to flex but not fail. Last its a personal issue of mine but who actually needs all that bulky padding and/or insulation around the ankle. it seems like unnecessary weight
