A True Gem!

Next to the Revel III, the Pyrenees women's hiking boots are the best I have ever owned. Amazingly comfortable right out of the box. Sized generously (I wear a 1/2 size smaller then the Revel III), there are no "ouch" spots on my feet or ankles. The support is excellent. It is nearly impossible to find an all-leather hiking boot any more, so these are a true gem! And compared to other leather hikers I had in years past, these are lighter weight and much more flexible. I plan to buy them again and again. Thank you Keen for keeping such a high standard of quality. A great women's boot is hard to find.

BEST BOOTS EVER!

I've been wearing my Pyrenees boots for over a year now, and they are definitely my go-to boot. So much so that I just ordered a second pair to keep on hand once these ones get worn out. I have so much trouble finding comfortable shoes. I have a slightly wider than average foot, and these fit me so comfortably. I normally wear a size 8, but ordered an 8.5 so I could wear heavy socks with them. I have not had a single blister on my feel while hiking with these boots. Usually that is a huge issue for me. I can't say enough good things about them. I love them!! I may even order the black pair:-)

I bought a pair of these several years ago, and was so pleased that I bought 2 more. Comfortable fit, so "slipper-like" that I was surprised they were also very stable and supportive. Generous toe box. Waterproof. No break-in for any of them, except for one stiff ankle. I alternated pairs so they could have their day of rest, and oiled them as needed. And then the soles started coming apart. If you look at the picture of the sole, you will see that the big blocks of tread are NOT the outer layer. They stick through holes cut in the outer layer, which wraps up onto the boot with wing- like points. On mine - all 3 pairs - the outer layer began to peel at those points, which then caught on things and speeded the peeling. Meanwhile, the bottom of the outer layer eased away from the tread blocks, allowing in sand and pebbles, which speeded the separation there. I invested in a boatload of Shoe Goo, which held them together for a couple of weeks at a time. The sole separation led to gaps at the bottom of the leather (at sole level) which destroyed the waterproof-ness, and allowed sand and pebbles into the shoe. Horrible.I live and work in a hot desert, so maybe the adhesives used in these boots were just not up to the heat. Even so, the pointy tips on the side of the outer sole layer were bound to get caught on things and pulled loose. I can't believe I bought the only 3 pairs of lemons. Perhaps Keen has improved their design - but it looks the same to me. I was extremely disappointed, and I have never found another model of Keens that fit my wide toes.

Durable, old-fashioned hiking boots
28 August 2024

Got my first pair of Pyrenees in 2019 and just received the second. After five years of hard use, I would say for anybody hiking mostly on trails, they’re overkill. For anybody hiking off trail regularly, through scree or tundra or red rock, the extra ankle support and heavy build of these boots will be welcome.PROS:-Durable. Very. Unlike many newer plastic-based shoes, the old fashioned leather uppers are slow to crack and are easy to maintain with regular coats of Nikwax.-Waterproof. As much as any shoe can claim waterproofness, this one holds its own, again with regular treatments of Nikwax.-Roomy toe box. Plenty of room to spread out.-Once they’ve had a chance to break in, they’re very comfortable indeed. I’m sorry to let the old pair go.CONS:-Initially ... MoreGot my first pair of Pyrenees in 2019 and just received the second. An old fashioned boot needs an old fashioned break in period. I find the stiffest area to be around the ankle.-With enough of a soaking, like any boot they will eventually get wet, and these take a very long time to dry out.-Not at all breathable. Your feet will roast on a warm day. Definitely recommend for only people in cooler locations.-Round laces!? I can look the other way for a dress shoe, but from a company like Keen ostensibly making functional footwear, round laces are ridiculous. They come undone all the time, unless you tie them in knots the size of grapefruits. Get some flat laces that will stay tied.

Great Hikers
15 May 2024

These are the KEENS I buy again and again. I've been a fan of this company since the beginning - when it was just the Newport. Then I bought a pair of Pyrenes when they came out, and they quickly became my favorite hikers.Targhees rock too, but these all leather hikers take a beating like no other. I'm disabled and have terrible knees and these offer me the most support on hikes.I deducted a star because over the years I have had delamination issues. KEEN has always rectified each problem but that is why no 5 stars from me.I do have 2 new pair in my shopping cart now so I still have faith! I still have hope for these gorgeous and supportive boots!

I would love my money back
4 August 2023

They were an issue from the beginning but nothing a good wearing in period couldn't fix, or so I thought. By then it was too late to return them. They were extraordinarily stiff for some time. I took it easy hiking easy shortish trails during the spring. The leather eventually softened and the blisters eased off but I don't recall enduring as many painful blisters with any other boot I've owed. I was also getting and continue to get pain at the front of my lower leg where the tongue impacts. Again, I thought this would eventually let up as the leather softened but it hasn't. I therefore have to keep my laces looser then I prefer in order to avoid this pain which often leads to blisters on this heel do to the added friction.I am an avid hiker and at this point in ... MoreThey were an issue from the beginning but nothing a good wearing in period couldn't fix, or so I thought. In addition to the fit and feel these boots do not wear well. The laces are fraying, and leather is so scratched and worn they look like they are years older then the 7 months I've owned them.

Magic Birthday Boots
27 April 2024

I called these boots my "magic birthday boots" because my boyfriend bought them for me when I took him to a camping store after he got me a terrible present (flowers, wilted) to redeem himself. I pointed out a 20euro coffee press that id have liked but instead he treated me to these boots. What a sweetheart. Anyway, they kept me dry and blister free for nearly two years of long distance hiking in Glacier National Park, the Wicklow Way in Ireland, and the West Highland Way in Scotland. But they were also so comfy that I wore them every single day at home too walking the do through muck and wet grass and never getting wet. This last hike in Scotland finally did them in. The leather cracked and fully separated from the sole. I am so sad. Goodbye best boots ever.

New Boots!
17 January 2024

I ordered a new pair of Pyrenees since my others were getting pretty beat up. While I was not sure about the new color, I was sure that I would love the fit of the new boots since Keen boots always fit great right out of the box. The roomy toe box is really comfortable even after a long day of hikes and walking. The snug fit at the heel really reduces the possibility of blisters, which I appreciate. The new color is fantastic and as always the fit was perfect from the start. When these wear out, I will buy another pair, just like I have the last five times that I have bought hiking boots. The new color is really nice - dark brown uppers with a maple tongue and laces. Stylish as well as comfortable.

Terrible customer service, boots OK
3 June 2024

I am so disappointed by Keen's customer service, which seems to be outsourced to a 3rd party and is opposite of all the welcoming messaging that's part of their company vibe. My supposedly new boots arrived seriously scuffed and 2 weeks later I am not getting adequate responses, chats get cut off, e-mails are short and not directly addressing my concerns / probably written by AI. I usually prefer to order from the brand's themselves but will go to another site next time. Now the boots themselves: From trying on at home, they seem to be as comfortable as all Keens. i have high arches and wear orthotics. The leather appears almost plasticy in person- I think that will help it clean well but it's different than expected and almost makes them look cheap. a little disppointing
24 January 2024

This came highly recommended by a friend who has been loyal to Keen boots for decades. I'm an LL Bean gal but wanted to give this a try bc it is such a cute and affordable shoe. Overall it is a solid shoe, with a nice wide toe box and sturdy construction, but the folds in the tongue gather in a way that hurts the top of my foot. I'm still experimenting with different socks etc but out of the box, it is taking a bit more work than I expected. This review forced me to say whether I'd recommend this to a friend, but it did not give a "not sure" option! For some it may work out, but it hasn't totally for me yet. I'm hoping it will improve...
