These are my first time trying Keen’s, a well known and respected shoe brand. I like the look of them. The pop of pink is cute without them trying too hard to look like “girly” hiking boots. The height is perfect, giving some ankle support without being too tight, restrictive, or uncomfortable. They are cushy and do not need additional insoles. The material is soft, and while I have not tried them in pouring rain for a lengthy amount of time, I live in the PNW so they’ve have plenty of wear out in various drizzles, sprinkles, and straight up rain, and performed beautifully without getting my feet wet. This is not necessarily negative, but something to be aware of: they are roomy, really roomy even with thick socks on. I am pretty universally a size 7 and while these are not too large, they are close to it. The toe box especially is wide, so if you need wider shoes, these would be excellent, and I think they are fine for medium feet, though if you run narrow best to size down or perhaps opt for a different model all together. Overall, they are very comfortable and I would happily purchase a second pair when they need replacing.

This is a great quality boot. It’s exactly what I need to walk in the woods and feel protected and steady on my feet. Especially when walking my dog who loves to explore. Walking and hiking in the woods can be pretty messy and muddy but these boots handle it well being resistant to mess and moisture. I really love the treading on the bottoms and my toes really do feel comfortable and well-placed in the boots. Not squished or tight. Which was always a deterrent in the past to me wearing hiking boots. My ankles tend to be sensitive to rubbing but the boot height was placed well and cushioned where I didn’t have any issues. Felt secured and snug. Great quality boot. Definitely inspires me to keep moving - in nature!

I have had 2-3 pair of Targhee 2 hiking everyday in them for about 10 years. The Targhee 4s are even more impressive. The tread is better. They are even more comfortable. The Targhee is much easier to put on than other boots because they open up more yet they lace down snugly and the lace system holds the laces firmly in place so they don’t loosen. The wide toe box combined with how well the lacing system tightens the heel allows the most secure yet comfortable fit. I am normally size 10. have had both 10 and 10.5 Targhee2. I am in the desert so opted for 10.5 this time. I think the 10 would have been fine but the 10.5 fits well allowing a little breathing room for summer heat.

I have mild plantar fasciitis; some shoes I can wear without insoles, and some I have to add in. For as much as these boots cost and the quality/comfort that everyone raved about, I had high hopes. Unfortunately, walking around in these for 2 hours on flat ground was extremely painful, so I must wear inserts with these boots, which is unfortunate. Everyone in the comments kept saying how roomy the toe box was (almost too roomy) and to order a half size down. That was definitely the WRONG thing to do for me, as the length of the shoe from heel to back was definitely way too short in a half size down. Even in my usual size, with my inserts added in my toes hit the front of the boot. If I hadn't needed them for an event before I could get another pair shipped, I may ... MoreI have mild plantar fasciitis; some shoes I can wear without insoles, and some I have to add in. Even in my usual size, with my inserts added in my toes hit the front of the boot. If I hadn't needed them for an event before I could get another pair shipped, I may have actually gone with a half size above my usual size, but I thought with the wider toe box I'd be okay. May not have been worth it in the end, as I got bad blisters in unusual places from my toes curling inside the boot in an effort to keep my toes from ramming into the front of the shoe. The shoes feel like they are well constructed, though we will see how the rubber sole holds up over time where it curves over the toe box. They are lightweight, if just a little uncomfortable around my calf because of where the boot shaft digs into my leg. However, for the money and the reputation, I guess I came in expecting more. I'd buy if they were on sale, but for the full price I think there are better hiking boots out there.
Super duper happy I picked the bute grey/mint KEEN Targhee IV Ladies Hiking Boots. I wear a size 8W in all shoes, but ordered a size 9M. I was able to hike 10 miles my first tgrip with zero brake-in period and my feet felt great afterwards. On my second hike (12 miles) I slipped down some rocks with a 40lb pack and the mid-height was perfect for proper ankle support. I also walked through lots of water with only a pair of wool sock and no liner and my feet were completely dry and warm. This is a fabulous book for hiking especially if you have wide feet like me. If you have W feet you might order both the M&W just to check the comfort out first. Bass is very good when it comes to returning.
Love these boots. Only 2 small suggestions- the colors are not good for everyday hiking. I just got the brown ones but I plan to color over the pink edging today with a brown Sharpee-I waited 6 months to buy these as pink doesn t belong on hiking boots, but when they were on sale I got the idea to recolor the pink to brown. I did a 5 mile hilly hike in them today. No break-in required. I wish the insole were not so soft but not a big deal as I usually buy better insoles like Superfeet to insert. I have hiked daily for 25 years and had at least 10 different types of boots and these are my favorite. I wore out 3-4 pair of Targhee 2s and they were my previous favorites but these are even better. Very comfortable and very endurable with good traction. I also got these ... MoreLove these boots. I also got these in gray awhile ago (and sized up which I should not have) Gray looks good new but the dirt shows way more on the gray. The fit is roomier than on Targhee 2s so no need to go up a size on these.
I bought this pair of KEEN for our Switzerland trip. I didn’t really have time to break them before the trip, I was a little worried. It turned out that it was not an issue at all. I had great time hiking in them on the trails in Interlaken area. I also wore them in the rainy days walking in city streets, and I wiped off the excessive water at the end of day and they are ready to go for the next day. I got wide because I have a bunion and one size up from my regular shoe size considering that I would do a lot hiking and wearing thick socks. They are really comfortable. Another thing I want to mention is that the REI staff were super helpful. They are very knowledgeable about the shoes they are selling.
My frustration builds more and more with manufacturers cheapening hiking shoes. Keen is a prime example. I have worn just about every brand imaginable. Keen was always favorite. But this shoe is odd. The middle seems lowered and the front toe box is higher. Shoe is lightweight which is nice. Lacking support - I mean Keen was superb with arch support and now this is a joke with this shoe. I took out the insole and replaced it with Superfeet and then Sol, still not loving the fit. I wear them around the house and garden now because they are a poor shoe for hiking.
I have always love the Targhee line up from Keen. I have had the 2 s, 3 s, and decided to try the 4 s this year. With the 2 & 3 s a size 9.5 always fit perfectly, so that is the same size I got in the 4 s. With this being said, I assumed they would still fit the same so I had no problem tearing the tag off before trying them on. That was a big mistake on my part!! These boots fit about a 1/2 size bigger than what I needed!I got the 4 s with store credit from a warranty claim I had placed with my previous pair of Targhee 3 s. I was unaware of the No 30 day trial with warranty claim products until I had worn the shoes a hand full of times and realized they got too big and wanted to return for a smaller size. I guess they state this in the initial confirmation ... MoreI have always love the Targhee line up from Keen. I have had the 2 s, 3 s, and decided to try the 4 s this year. I guess they state this in the initial confirmation email. I don t know about you, but I don t know many people who read fine print in a confirmation email!! So beware, if you have a warranty product make sure you don t try a trial cause they won t let you return them.I don t like this stipulation of theirs. I could understand if they were making you buy the same product again, but they let you put the store credit towards any item. How do you know if a DIFFERENT product is going to work or not without trying it first? Now I am stuck buying outright a smaller boot because my feet slide around too much and it won t be long before I wear out the heels from my feet slipping back and forth constantly. Will probably buy a different brand out of frustration for the company at this time.
I received my boots, tried them on, the right boot had an issue with the tongue rubbing on my foot. This would be a huge issue hiking long distances. The left boot did not do this. When I put my hand in the boots I could feel the diffence. This is my first time trying keen hiking boots. I was really excited and looking forward to giving them a try. Since I was my first time ordering I was able to use a discount code. But now since I have to return them. I don't have access to that code, to try another pair at the discount again. I tried chatting with customer service 3 times, and my claim was "escalated" to email where I would have to wait literal DAYS for someone to get back to me, according to the email.
