Kenneth Cole first stepped into business as a shoe company, which took off only after changing its name to Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. in order to acquire a permit to park a 40-foot trailer in Midtown Manhattan to launch its shoe show. The brand eventually expanded into clothing, accessories, and perfumes. The first scents, Kenneth Cole for Men and Kenneth Cole for Women, were launched in 2002. The company also creates perfumes in collaboration with Coty.
