Options included theLogitech Professional Presenter R800 with Green Laser Pointer , which is very similar to Logitech's red-laser version which I have used quite extensively. I decided to try the Kensington, which has a very simple control layout, and is slightly larger. My hands are big, and I prefer the way that it feels in my hand. All the necessary controls are there, buttons to advance slides forward and backward, a button to black-out the screen, and the button for the laser. I find anything more than this to be unnecessary. There is also a joystick in the middle of the 4-way button layout that can be used to control the mouse pointer if the remote is switched into that mode. It's not something I use frequently, but it's nice to have occasionally. The range is great and I've never had an instance where the remote did not transmit effectively. While I really like the functionality of the remote, I have found that it goes through batteries pretty quickly. I'm assuming that it is due to the green laser, which I tend to use quite a bit while presenting. The laser starts to lose brightness after a few all-day sessions, and then finally just gives out completely. The nice thing is that the other controls continue to work flawlessly even when the batteries are too weak to power the laser, so at least I can continue to advance slides and my presentation is not totally crippled. Minus one star for the battery life, but overall I'm very pleased and this has become my primary tool for presentations.

As a pointer, it is bright and visible. As a presentation controller, it does work from great distances. The card to hold your presentations is a great touch. But I did not keep it. The four buttons are so small and inconspicuous that you have to keep searching for the right button. Even worse, since the joystick sticks out in front of the laser button, your thumb consistently hits the joystick while trying to press the laser, with unexpected results. Not fun when a hundred or more people are watching you. And the whole thing has a bulbous light cheap plastic feel that does not inspire confidence. In other words, the electronics are great, the design, not at all.

Controls the computer/presentation well; laser dot is hard to find.

Except for the laser pointer, this presenter is great. It matched quickly with my (Windows 7 64-bit) operating system; It gives solid control of the on-screen cursor; The buttons and joystick are intuitive and easy to manipulate; It works well twenty or thirty feet away from the receiver. I gave it only "four stars" because the laser is not as bright (and as easy to find on the projection screen) as I would have liked. (I think this problem could be solved by using a green laser or a stronger one.)

I purchased this to use in a high school classroom on a daily basis. I have used and subsequently lost or broke about a dozen wireless presentation remotes over the past 12 years. I have used this product now on a daily basis for about two weeks. I can't comment on battery life other than to say it uses standard sized AAA batteries and not a proprietary or hard-to-find battery. The dongle fits inside the back of the remote and holds there securely. I have never felt it would fall out. The remote itself is thicker towards the rounded end and tapers down towards the narrower end. It is comfortable to hold in the hand. There are two slider switches on either side of the remove. On the left side is the on-off switch. When on, the buttons on top of the remote to control its functions light red. They are bright enough to see but not distracting. On the right side of the remote is the slide switch that toggles between presenter and mouse function. Although hard to see in the picture, there is a center joystick that acts as a mouse. The mouse function does work but it moves the mouse cursor slowly so I wouldn't count on it for frequent use. The laser is red and shows up clearly in a brightly lit room. The classroom in which I teach has overpowering fluorescent lighting and the red dot is clear. When plugged in, the dongle sticks out about an inch. I have never had a connection drop. In general, I like the product and feel it is one of the better ones I've used over the years.

I really love this presenter remote, but I did leave the USB in a computer one time and you can't buy a replacement as the remote and the usb have a unique frequency. This is what makes them so great in this day when everyone in the room is connected so I bought a second one. I have gone through the batteries faster than with previous remotes as I forget to turn it off after sessions, but there is an off switch to save the battery. I also like that the USB fits inside the remote for carrying purposes. I haven't used the SD card, but I like the potential capability--I paid the extra to have that capability. I haven't mastered the cursor control feature, but have experimented wth it. My students like to use the remote for their presentations also.

I use this when teaching class, but the batteries only last a few days. I was surprised at how fast this thing eats batteries. Otherwise, I use this for powerpoint lectures. Standing in the back of the auditorium classroom (about 100 feet), this has no problems advancing the slides! Likewise, the green pointer is plenty strong enough to clearly show at that distance!

It has a bright green laser essential for lit rooms. However the cursor joystick broke quickly, and the cursor function is aggravatingly difficult to use. ---PROS--- PowerPoint Navigation -The remote navigates well through PowerPoint slides. It worked as expected for this use. Green Laser -The green laser is great for a lit room. The laser will drain the battery after frequent use, so it is necessary to have extra batteries on hand. If you find that the laser is dim, try changing the batteries. USB Stick -Plug in the USB stick and it will be ready for use. No hassle set up. The micro SD card functioned as a regular memory stick. ---CONS--- Range I have found that it does not give 150 ft range as advertised, even with a new batteries. I find that it struggles at 25 to 30 ft. Mouse and Cursor Function -The mouse joystick is junk. The plastic joystick used for cursor control broke within a month of occasional use of that function. When it was working, the cursor moves so slowly and sluggishly that it was practically usable. Additionally, the joystick has to be pressed as a right-click command. The cursor migrates off target when trying to press it, so it is difficult to stay on the item you are trying to click. Do not anticipate using this option. Buttons -The buttons worked well, but they had a tendency to get caught underneath the housing about midlife. This happened within the beginning of the second semester of use.
