The Kensington Chelsea Boots are a timeless style, sure to add a refined edge to any ensemble. The Goodyear Welt (named after it's founder, Charles Goodyear, Jr) was invented in 1869. The process involves sewing a strip of leather around the bottom edge of the shoe. The welt attaches to both the upper and insole of the shoe and is in turn attached via a heavy duty lock stitch seam to the outsole. The stitching runs around the outside of the sole, rather than on the bottom (underfoot) to help maximise the soles water resistance. Goodyear welted shoes can generally be repaired more easily and though the construction can be time consuming is deemed the best method of shoe construction.
