Kenwood Appliances Kmix Stand Mixer - Spicy Red - KMX754RD

Bought for my son's 16th birthday. He was keen on a stand mixer and after doing my due diligence, this is the one I chose. It doesn't disappoint!! He's already made some cracking pizza dough and a divine lemon cake.Delighted to discover the pasta attachments we can buy, he's already written his Christmas wish list.Looks super stylish and is sturdy and easy to use.

A very solid mixer so far

Whilst we've only had this machine a couple of weeks, it's performed extremely well mixing pizza dough and waffle mix, including egg beating. It's a heavy solid feeling machine with an elegant but no nonsense look. The lifting lever feels positive and attachments slot in and out very easily. The speed control know does the job, just like a simple volume control really, continuously variable with no notches. The heavy glass mixing bowl is great, with graduations so that it is almost like a giant measuring jug. Am not sure whether the jamming into the base that others have mentioned on this model has been fixed, but so far that hasn't been a problem. The dough hook and whisk have been. brilliant at mixing everything with very little sticking to the side of the bowl. More generally, time will tell how reliable this machine remains, whether the motor and rest of the mechanism lasts anywhere near as long as the more than 30 years or so that some of our other kitchen equipment has lasted and is still going, passed on from the previous generation!

Pros: Easy to work knobCons: The mixers don't fit low enough in the bowl so cake mix etc gets left. I have to stop the machine regularly to scrape it off with a spatula and restart. The speeds have little variation. It's an adequate machine but for regular use I find it irritatingly basic for the money.

I bought this a few weeks ago to replace my old Kenwood chef.which belonged to my mum. Must have used it for 40 years!!Anyway..a new one was required...It's heavy as was to be expected. A large glass bowl, I'll need to be careful!So far it's made sponges, brownies, whipped cream (although I prefer a smaller kenwood whisk for that)Very pleased..and £200 less than other retailersLooks good tooDefinitely recommend

Pros: Superb sturdy build qualityBread kneading works wellImpressed with the number of attachments available for the front drive shaft.Cons: Poor design1. Extremely Underpowered for whisking (especially egg white)2. Noisy3. Food gets stuck round the sides and not touched by the blade or whisk. 4. Have to take the bowl out to scrap the sides as no bowl space to do so in situ. 5. Extremely heavy bowl, I’m relatively strong but I can imagine very heavy for some people. 5. I keep knocking the silver disk on the front off, once into my cake mix. 6. Needs to come with a tool for readjustment of attachments (ie paper test thing) annoying that you have to do that anyway. 7. Instruction book not so clear.

Not heavy duty but excellent for cakes.

Lovely looking mixer very solid. I have used many times and my experience has been that it is not strong enough to knead 1 kg flour bread dough but it does indicate this. However using 500g bread mix it copes well. Excellent for cake mixes and does two box mixes with no trouble. I have found the glass bowl very heavy and aligns poorly with the spout when securing to the base as it knocks against the main mixer and 'grates' against it which I do not know how to prevent when mixing fuller loads. I would say it was good for making sponge mixes creaming butter with sugar the attachments are very good. But it is not a heavy duty mixer despite it's robust looks.

Pros: The Kmix is a great stand mixer and we use it for cakes, doughs, batter, crumble mix etc. We've also used it for very smooth mashed potato! It's easy to change the tools and to clean it. It looks super-smart on the work surface too.Cons: There's nothing we don't like, but please note that it's a heavy mixer, so probably not one to pop in and out of a cupboard - better to leave it on the work surface, ready to use.

Pros: Not only is it aesthetically pleasing to look at on my counter but it's so efficient. It mixes beautiful cake batters. I haven't used the balloon whisk or dough hook yet but I'm sure they'll work amazingly when I get round to themCons: The glass bowl gets stuck if you try to put it in at certain parts..I find I can only place ans secure it as far to the left side as possible and it goes in and comes out without problem. Otherwise I've had it jam and had great difficulty removing it. Literally having to put it on its side to remove the batter and then with It emptier having a good nudge to shift it out.

Good Points: It`s powerful, with sleek design and good quality bowl. I love the different speeds and the fact that you can add attachments.Improvement Points: I didn`t like that when I am kneading, the dough can get around the hook and into the machine. I would have to then use a toothpick to clean it and it is very time consuming. Some sort of a protector would be nice. Other than that, nothing needs improving.

Pros: I love not having to do everything by hand anymore. I have weak wrists so kneading dough by hand is difficult for me. I bought this on sale so the price was good. The mixer itself is fine, the glass bowl is the problem.Cons: The glass bowl is HEAVY. Do not underestimate how heavy this will be. It is difficult to wash for this reason. More importantly, the huge glass bowl CRACKED CLEAN IN HALF while the mixer was on and the dough hook kept rotating the broken glass around. I cut myself trying to stop it from hitting the floor and shattering. I got 6 months of use out of it. I've ordered a metal bowl instead. Do not mix stiff dough in a glass bowl. Better yet, go for a metal bowl.
