Bought this for my Kenwood Chef and worked a dream! I know previous review stated it does not fit chef models however I can assure you it does - best double check what attachments your machine takes first. First time making ice cream and couldn't have gone better. Don't think I'll ever go back to the cheap supermarket stuff! The bowl you need to freeze first isn't too large (1l capacity) so not much bigger than your standard ice cream tub. Fully recommend.

Having read the reviews for this item, I was slightly sceptical but, happy to "give it a go". I initially had problems in connecting it to the drive, but after a phonecall to Kenwood realised that I was trying to attach it to the wrong part of the head! Duh, what a wally! I followed the rest of the instructions & although I had to transfer the ice cream to a tub in the freezer, (we couldn't eat it all in one go) it turned out fine & didn't spend too long in there! I would heartily recommend this product but it does need "forward planning" unless you can keep the bowl in the freezer ready to use. I bought this attachment to replace the stand-alone Kenwood Ice Cream Maker I purchased a few years ago. This one works really well and produces excellent ice cream and Kulfi. The mixer bowl and blade don't look very tough but time will tell. The main downside is that the freezer bowl does nor store in the mixer bowl, under the cover, as I expected. It also does not fit my original mixer bowl as the diameter is marginally larger. Therefore, it defeats the object of saving storage space and having a tidier kitchen. The Kenwood designers need to consider the ergonomics more carefully.

Couldn't wait to try this attachment out. Put the freezer bowl into my freezer straight away, it's a bit bulky but fits in the drawer ok and other things can sit inside it. It was very simple to assemble and my first batch of ice cream was whipped up in about 20 mins. Nothing complicated about the whole operation. Would recommend this attachment especially if you do a lot of cooking/entertaining and you've got the space to store it.
Having taken some time to decide on whether or not to buy the ice cream maker attachment, I finally took the plunge and I'm so pleased I did. It makes lovely ice cream and sorbet - neither of which last very long in our house! You have to follow the usage instructions carefully but they are pretty straightforward. We have certainly enjoyed the products of the attachment.
I like having the ice cream maker as part of my Kenwood Chef and it saves having another gadget to store. The instruction book isn't very helpful and Kenwood's video is misleading. My 1st lesson was not to use the ice cream maker to mix the ingredients as per Kenwood's video. Mix the basic mix together before you put it in the maker. The 2nd is to have the mix as cool as you can before it goes in and the 3rd is to start the mixer on full speed before the mix goes in as per Kenwood's instructions but then to reduce it to quite a low speed for the chill and churn. Now perfect ice cream and and the limitation on variety is the limitation of your creativity!
I have tried two different sorbet recipes and an ice cream recipe and all have been popular with my family. I agree with the reviewer who advises making sure your bowl attachment is well frozen, and your mix is well mixed and as cold as possible before it goes into the mixer which should be running before the mix goes in. Home made ice cream is so much nicer than bought. I'm looking forward to expanding my repertoire.
Rave reviews for this ice-cream maker persuaded me to buy it - but either I'm doing something very wrong (and I can't imagine what) or it's just not a good product. It starts off fine, but after about 5 minutes, when the ice-cream begins to freeze and thicken, the rotor blade can't take it; it slips out of its place and the whole machine starts to rattle. The first time this happened, it broke the splash guard. And try getting a spare one! Impossible. So I sort of fixed the break, and tried again. Same thing. It just doesn't manage the heavier freezing mixture. I don't know what to do. Splash guard broken so can't return it, and it's out of time anyway. I do not recommend.
Having read several reviews on this product, Iwas aware that this accessory may not work quite as well as it should due to the plastic blade which can break. I purchased this attachmentrecently - followed the instructions and the result was excellent. I have read that buyers have had to experiment first before making a good quality ice-cream/sorbet. I made made a lime sorbet and it tastes brilliant!
Having looked at a few ice cream makers which involve freezing a bowl beforehand , we have had good results with this one. This mainly due to making use of Kenwood's powerful motor which churns the ice cream almost to the fully frozen state. Highly recommend it
