I bought this mixer to replace a handheld one. I am very disappointed as it is cheaply made such that when I operate the speed and pulse selector to switch it off, I find mixture flying everywhere. The beater ejector appears to require undue force because the appliance seems so fragile. Likewise, the splashguard seems very fragile. It is compact but the operations needs to be much sturdier

I am so pleased with this mixer. I have been looking at the larger mixers for ages but my gut feeling was , do I really need a large mixer that costs hundreds of pounds taking up space on my work top?I was apprehensive about the size of bowl, but it easily cooks a large cake with room to spare. It whisks up a fat less sponge beautifully!I would really recommend this mixer.

I am so pleased with this mixer. Smaller and lighter than its expensive, flashy-looking cousins, it is - although having a plastic stand base - strong and well-designed, and still works aesthetically. When using the hand mixer alone, the cord doesn't get in the way (as with some designs), the stainless steel bowl is a good shape and rotates when using the beaters, the motor does not strain while working with dough and, overall, its a great addition to my small kitchen and is a pleasure to use. I only bought it recently and am hoping it lasts well, although have no reason as yet to doubt that it would.

I bought this to replace a handwhisk that I bought last year (not Kenwood) which just stopped working.I am really pleased with it and it produced a beautiful fluffy vic sponge by just putting all ingedients in together. What a result! It did not seem to reach ingredients in bottom of bowl, but detachable hand whisk sorted that easily.
I bought this machine because it is smaller than the large Kenwood Chef machines, so it takes up less space on the worktop, I can fit it into a cupboard, and it's very light, The variable speed controls on the top of it work well. The cakes we made were very light and fluffy!I like the fact that I can release the motorised part that holds the whisks, to use it with a larger bowl if I need to. It's easy to clean, too.Why 4 stars? The Chefette didn't work easily with a large amount of flour (400gms) to make bread, it moved about on the worktop. It was OK with 300gms. So I'll need to do 2 batches next time. And even this will still be faster than kneading the larger amount by hand. All the other advantages to it outweigh this problem! Ive been using a hand mixer, but wanted the convenience of a stand. I don't have the room for a large one so this fits the bill perfectly for me.It's very light to move and easy to use. It is light enough to put away in a cupboard after use. It can also fit under the upper cupboards in the kitchen .The capacity is big enough to make a family size cake which is my main use for it. It has additional beater attachments for dough, and comes with a useful splash guard to reduce floury mess.
Pros: Good little mixer for the price. Adequate for cake making and small loaves. Detaches from the stand for use as a hand mixer which is rare these days. The bowl cover is useful at the start of a mix when you have dry ingredients to mix in.Cons: No whisk attachments an apparently none available as a separate purchase. Motor is not powerful enough to rotate the bowl when kneading dough, so I usually end up using it as a hand mixer. The stated maximum usage times are inadequate for many recipes, though I've used it for longer without a problem.
Hovers a few mm too high to mix dry foods or smaller quantities when in the stand.Otherwise the inclusion of the stand is a nice touch. Will see how long it lasts only 4-5 bakes in and generally things are looking good. Seems like a reasonable option for someone who doesn't need the bigger machines or simply doesnt want to spend hundreds to make the odd cake. All cakes so far have come out airy and fluffy - so far my cakes do seem lighter. Suspect that's because I'm not having to hold the mixer so it probably run for a wee but longer.
I had a Kenwood Cheffette as a wedding present 44 years ago and it finally failed. I was looking for a replacement of a similar size and decided to go with this one. It does the job, is small enough to store in a cupboard and lift out when required and is sturdy enough to stay in place when using, unlike some cheaper alternatives. I am pleased with this purchase and looking forward to many more years of use.
