The handle and pour lip is useful. Speed adjust is easy and fitting the splash cover is also easy - it slides upwards over the "neck" of the mixer and can be left in place all the time. Place the opening of the splash cover so its over the pour lip of the bowl. It comes with the fold speed setting but not the fold paddle - however it folds using the K attachment. Let me start by saying that its a great stand mixer, powerful, controllable, well made and fairly quiet.It does however have one well documented flaw and thats the glass bowl, more specifically the plastic ring on the bottom of the bowl.Third time my wife used the mixer the bowl refused to release from the base, the bowl was turning but the plastic ring was firmly stuck in the machine stopping the removal of the bowl. A quick Google search revealed we were not alone in experiencing this problem and the solution involved WD40 and some brute force. Spray the WD40 around the seal between the ring and the machine base, leave it to penetrate then tighten the bowl clockwise so it tightens to the ring. Later models all seem to have this as standard.Even factoring in the cost of the stainless bowl the Kenwood machine is still very good value when compared with the comparable Kitchen Aid mixer.UPDATE Genuine Kenwood stainless bowl has arrived from eSpares ES1779937 and its a huge improvement. Fits perfectly, a fraction of the weight of the glass bowl and NO PLASTIC RING

Extremely Underpowered for whisking (especially egg white)2. Noisy3. Food gets stuck round the sides and not touched by the blade or whisk. 4. Have to take the bowl out to scrap the sides as no bowl space to do so in situ. 5. Extremely heavy bowl, I’m relatively strong but I can imagine very heavy for some people. 5. I keep knocking the silver disk on the front off, once into my cake mix. 6. Needs to come with a tool for readjustment of attachments (ie paper test thing) annoying that you have to do that anyway. 7. Instruction book not so clear.

Lovely looking mixer very solid. I have used many times and my experience has been that it is not strong enough to knead 1 kg flour bread dough but it does indicate this. However using 500g bread mix it copes well. Excellent for cake mixes and does two box mixes with no trouble. I have found the glass bowl very heavy and aligns poorly with the spout when securing to the base as it knocks against the main mixer and 'grates' against it which I do not know how to prevent when mixing fuller loads. I would say it was good for making sponge mixes creaming butter with sugar the attachments are very good. But it is not a heavy duty mixer despite it's robust looks.
Good Points: Simple to attach tools. Bowl cover avoids splashing out of bowl. Mixer is very stable on worktop. Easy to clean. Good range of mixer speeds.Improvement Points: The glass bowl is quite heavy to handle especially when filled with contents. Suggest an option of glass or stainless steel at point of purchase. It can be a bit messy adding flour via the opening in lid or with head tilted back with tools attached.
Pros: I love not having to do everything by hand anymore. I have weak wrists so kneading dough by hand is difficult for me. I bought this on sale so the price was good. The mixer itself is fine, the glass bowl is the problem.Cons: The glass bowl is HEAVY. Do not underestimate how heavy this will be. It is difficult to wash for this reason. More importantly, the huge glass bowl CRACKED CLEAN IN HALF while the mixer was on and the dough hook kept rotating the broken glass around. I cut myself trying to stop it from hitting the floor and shattering. I got 6 months of use out of it. I've ordered a metal bowl instead. Do not mix stiff dough in a glass bowl. Better yet, go for a metal bowl.
