The brand is considered one of the first japanese brands to become popular worldwide. It released its first perfume in 1988. Louis vuitton moet hennessy (lvmh) purchased the label in 1993. Takada is no longer the chief designer of the brand and announced his retirement in 1999 but remains active in various projects.
