Thankfully this is sold in local grocery stores so I didn't have to pay through the nose for this. Unless you are making something traditionally Japanese I say just go for the regular mayo. That isn't to say this is a bad mayo. But it isn't life changing. I put it on burgers and even made some sauces out of it as mayo is a great base ingredient and it wasn't as life changing as the youtubers all made it seem like it would be. Is there a taste difference sure but it's not a gigantic one. It's like splitting hairs it feels like. Best use for it besides the infamous egg salad sandwich would have to be a fried chicken sandwich or perhaps a sriracha may to dip fried bar inspired foods in.

I like to make easy poke bowls with some shredded crab meat, rice, avocado, etc. I have used regular mayo mixed with sriracha in the past to add to it, and I didnât really want to spend money on this mayo. Trust me, you should buy it. It does not taste like regular mayonnaise, and will really elevate any sort of Japanese dishes you make. Just buy it; itâs worth it

Bought this specifically to make a Kani Salad and it did NOT disappoint. Get 1 pack of the leg style imitation crab and pull it apart like string cheese. Laying it flat on a cutting board %26 using a fork works well. Then peel a cucumber and chop into long thin sticks or take a vegetable peeler and just make ribbons. Combine the cucumber %26 crab in a bowl. Add this mayo sriracha sauce (I use the chickfila one). Make it as saucey as you like but don't add too much at first. You can always add more but you can't take it out. Then add just a little rice vinegar. I also like to add shredded lettuce to mine but that's not the usual way. If you make a batch ahead of time do not add the lettuce until you're ready to serve. It will get slimy. Mix it all together. I was excited to try this mayo after seeing it on TikTok and YouTube. Cooks made it look so delicious. It was not. This has to be an acquired taste because for me, the taste was horrible. I gagged at it. Maybe its better with sushi or more seafood, but i couldn't take it. And you would expect more due to the price being more expensive than even Kraft or Hellman's. Won't buy it again. I'll stick to regular mayo.
This is the world's top rated mayo for a reason! Similar to Duke's in that the Japanese version of Kewpie does not contain any sugar and they use rice vinegar instead of white vinegar which results in a bit less tanginess. The kicker though is that Kewpie adds MSG for a deep umami flavor. Yes, Japan loves MSG and most of them live into their 90's. The US still shames MSG based on 20th century anecdotal information. Using MSG instead of salt results in LESS sodium in your diet and more flavor. Some people claim to be sensitive to it, but if you're you have nothing to worry about. The Foodie crowd figured this out years ago.
Iâve been seeing this brand on Tik Tok for a while; lots of folks on that platform rave about this mayonnaise. My thoughts? âItâs mayonnaise. What on earth makes this mayonnaise so special?â I donât go out of my way to bug mayonnaise; usually, I have a bottle of Great Value mayonnaise in the fridge for when needed for a meal.I decided Iâd seek out this brand of mayonnaise just to see why so many people on social media have hyped it up. Itâs certainly cheaper at Walmart than at the local Asian grocery markets near me.I do see the hype about this mayonnaise. Maybe itâs the slight vinegar flavor. Maybe itâs the MSG.At first taste, I thought it was a yellow Miracle Whip. Iâm not the type of person to dip fries in mayonnaise⊠but I will gladly dip fries - especially fries from Arbyâs and Checkers/Rallys - in this mayonnaise. Itâs delicious.Iâve used it in place of mayonnaise on sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs. Stellar choice.
The presence of MSG in this mayo makes this by far the most tasty mayo you can buy! Most mayos offer creamy and a little bit of flavor, but with this mayo you get the creamy texture, a pretty innovative bottle (if you take off the cap thereâs a built-in star tip underneath), and the kind of flavor youâve always dreamt of! The flavor profile is pretty deeply savory, almost like a truffle flavor. If youâve never had this mayo, pick up a bottle the next time youâre getting ready for your supper sandwich, quesadilla, or even your morning eggs!
When I first skimmed the internet for reviews, I was almost hesitant to try it fearing it would taste as disgusting as people made it sound. But I took one taste and I found that I liked it very much, better than regular American Mayo options. Itâs very egg forward in taste due to them only using the yolks. It tastes really good in fried rice as I figured out today since I made some. I also tried it in some yakisoba because I saw a character in a Japanese show put it in his lol. If youâre not into strong eggy, fishy, umami flavors then this mayo wonât be for you. Ps: the bottle becomes more flat as it empties so just be careful and unscrew the cap if you want to use the cute star tip.
