Kiehl’s Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion is a lovely toner if you have blemish prone skin, have pimples, oily skin or open pores. I use this at various times during the tear, such as in summer when it's really hot and humid, when I have a nasty flare up of pimples, or my skin looks dull and needs a good cleaning. You use this product on a cotton pad after cleansing, and swipe it all over your face. It feels lovely and cool, it helps calm redness too which is great. This is my absolute HG product. I almost cry if I have to go without or if my order doesn’t arrive on time. If I use this at least 1x a day my skin is 100% better then without. It keeps my acne at bay and dries out all pimples overnight. It also helps keep my large pores at bay and my blackheads in my t-zone to clear. There is some downfalls though with the product. It is very drying, and you can smell the alcohol in it. So very strong I don’t recommend it if you skin is on the dryer side or sensitive. Also, finding a moisturizer that works with this toner is a nightmare. I have only found one, Kiehl’s ultra moisturizer. Every other cream I have tried balls up with this toner. It’s super annoying. My pores really appeared less noticeable, they started clearing out, and my awful hormonal jawline acne started clearing over the next few days as well. I was also pleasantly surprised that it has the side effect of "priming" my skin so I haven't even had to use a primer under my makeup for a week, and it keeps me shine free all day. I've used this Big Blue Kiehl''s Astringent to instantly cure my daily facial shaving rash for decades. No redness and pain after the astringent is applied with large cotton ball. Also, the herbal liquid closes large pores on my nose & controls oil on my French forehead. Ready to roll into my day with confidence. After work, another Blue Astringent-soaked cotton ball over face (stay away from eyes) and I'm up for a pub stop. Can't beat this product.

I have been DEDICATED…..LOYAL….PASSIONATELY IN LOVE WITH the Blue Astringent for over 20 years now. NOTHING out there even comes close, and I’ve tried everything. All of the toners - all of them. This one is my “holy grail,” and if Kiehl’s ever discontinues it, well then, I’ll slowly die from a broken heart and oily skin. This product takes care of it all. It keeps my face fresh throughout the day and absolutely keeps the occasional blemish from becoming a monster. Kiehl’s…..my death will be on your hands if you ever discontinue this! So just don’t!

I have used many products to help with my adult acne and I so happened to be in Nordstroms when the representative from Kiehl's was in town and she recommended to me this line of products. I was skeptical because I have tried it all and was about to just suck it up and make an appointment to meet with a dermatologist, but I decided to give this my last try. This astringent I was scared about because toners usually burn my face during application and even after but not this one, I was shocked. I love the smell of this line and it doesn't irritate my skin which was a common problem for me and usually getting the irrational after using toners but this whole line is very gentle for acne treatment. I have been using this line of products for about two and half weeks and have seen a MAJOR difference in my skin. I don't need to put color correcting make up on before foundation, I feel comfortable enough to walk out of the house without makeup on, overall, I feel more confident. I am so glad I tried this product out. I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone who struggle with acne, from adolescent to adult acne. I know every night when I use this line of products that I will wake up to wash my face happy, because I do. Every day, I see results which is what I have always wanted from a product.

Strong Stuff

I'm a sufferer of bad skin - not bad all-over acne, but enough to be really bothersome so I went for this one. I already used the herbal moisturiser which I love and thought this would be a great addition to get my skin under control. Unfortunately it was too strong for my skin to be using this with the combination of the gentle facial wash and the other creams I use (all from Kiehls). I'm super sensitive though. I found when I washed my face first it dried my skin out too much adding this on top. What I do now, is I either use this when I don't wash my face in the shower first (I don't find it too much) or I was my face and skip this toner. Never both. It’s good for people with oily skin. I have a bad habit of picking and touching my face throughout the day. You can imagine how bad it can get. This toner is incredibly strong. It will strip everything off your skin. The good and bad. Since all the dirt on my finger tips lurks on my skin for hours, I’ll take a cotton pad and really work it into my skin after cleansing with the Kiehl’s acne wash. I feel like it really removes all the dirt in your pores. Even after washing my face throughly this toner manages to pull off a little more dirt that was left behind. I really don’t know how. I’ll press in the pad in certain areas where I feel like I want more concentration of the product to shrink my pores and prevent any breakouts I feel coming.
