The little drive is a very handy medium for transferring between devices, with the USB A and C always available. Plugged into my Android phone and it came right up, very accessible, and the transfer speed was almost unbelievable, a bunch of files really moved in a hurry, even gigabytes. I would rather use this option than tethering my phone to my PC. So it works well, doesn't get hot, and is amazingly small. One side has a little loop for attaching a short lanyard, which I use to help keep track of the drive. My only wish was for an LED to show activity, but the drive works very reliably.

I tested the Read/Write speeds of thisKingston Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3C Flash Drive (DTDUO3C/32GB ) on two different computers, using the benchmark program 'CrystalDiskMark 3.01 x64': - When plugged in to an USB 2.0 port: Sequential Read=34.5MB/s, Write=12.8MB/s - When plugged in to an USB 3.0 port: Read=122.5MB/s, Write=19.6MB/s (See my uploaded screenshot for details) The product description claims "100MB/s Read, 15MB/s Write". So my measured results are actually better than advertised. Just for reference, mySanDisk Ultra Fit Series USB 3.0 Flash Drive gives a more impressive performance. Its Sequential Read is similar at 148.4MB/s, while its Sequential Write is twice as fast at 39.4MB/s. But it is not a duo-port drive. On the other hand, mySanDisk Ultra ... On the other hand, mySanDisk Ultra Micro USB 2.0 OTG Flash Drive is a duo-port drive, and its performance is much worse: Read=20.7MB/s, Write=9.6MB/s. TheSony Microvault USB Flash Drive is slightly better with Read=23.4MB/s, Write=12.9MB/s [Bottom Line] Although the Write speed of this Data Traveler Micro Duo is not as good as that of the Sandisk Ultra Fit, it is actually better than advertised, and faster than my other dual-port drives. So I still consider it a good product at its present low price. [Other Remarks] - The smaller port of this drive is an USB Type-C port, not a micro-USB port. If you are looking for the latter, consider theData Traveler Micro Duo USB 3.0 Micro USB OTG drive instead. - The clear plastic cover over the smaller port feels flimsy. It slides out every time I unplug the drive from my computer. I hope it does not break off too soon. - The capacity of this '32GB' drive, according to my computer, is only 28.8GB. Now I know all about the difference between what is called one Giga-Byte for computer people (2 to the power 30 bytes) and for marketing people (1 billion bytes). But the discrepancy is too large here, as 28.8*2^30 = 30.9 billion bytes only. TheSony 32GB Microvault USB Flash Drive , for example, shows up as 30.2GB on my computer.
On balance a good choice for my write-once on a PC, read-a-lot on a Macbook Air application. Pros: • Small – easy portability • High capacity • Dual connectors – USB-A and USB-C • Reasonable cost Cons: • Small – easily lost • Advertised as "fast" but if you read carefully the write speed spec is 15 MB/sec. It was actually slightly faster - about 18 MB/sec. • Came formatted FAT32. I had to reformat it as exFAT to write a 80GB file to it. • The plastic flip-cover over the USB-C connector looks flimsy and may get in the way in tight quarters. It’s probably easily removed, and I’m not sure why it’s there since there is none on the USB-A connector.
Hi all buyers, He first thing you sshould know: to buy it or not. Yes, you can buy it, it's a really good device for its money, very great and portable replacement for the cable. What's next! The speed. PC with USB 2.0: sequential reading 25-30 MBs, sequential writing 10-15 MBs. Why USB 2.0? Because most of the phones are using the USB 2.0 unfortunately. The phone itself. (Meizu Pro 5) Never tested the flash with specific SW, but I can say that copy from the flash to the internal memory is pretty fast: about 20MBs, while recording from the internal memory is a bit slower: around 15MBs. The usability. Plastic connector cover is a bit annoying but it must be there because USB 3.1 looks not so strong as 2.0, 3.0. The small "strap" could have something more useful to ... The small "strap" could have something more useful to enhance detaching ability. But we have what we have. Conclusion: A good device with pretty close to classic USB 3.0 read/writrle performance. A good choice if you need to copy something to your phone quiet fast from someone's PC. And a good choice if your internal memory/sd card is become full of photos and videos so you need to move then somewhere quickly. I wish you a good shopping :)
Outstanding usb drive the reads are awesome however the writes are a bit slow at 18mbps most of the time reads are always over 100mbps. The plastic cover thing just rip it off and throw it away it's cheap and gets in the way and makes this otherwise premium product appear budget. Also keep it formatted to either FAT32 or FAText otherwise your phone or tablet won't read it unless you have a windows phone or tablet. I plug this directly into a projector and watch movies and it runs flawless never gets warm. Only time it gets warm or hot is during writes so adding files will make this drive get really hot it's all aluminum so that is to be expected. Great drive though I'll definitely be buying another. *Addition I accidentally left this in my pants pocket and washed ... Small and useful! pros: standard usb 2/3 connector + usb c connector. very versatile READ SPEED OS installs from this drive are wicked fast small: i have this attached to a lanyard and it is very small and light. great addition to my bag of tools accurate specifications: read/write is dead on as advertised. i used this in a heavy read environment and it works GREAT. i wish more companies truthfully advertised a device's capabilities. i know where to NOT use the drive. future proof and legacy happy: usb C will likely dominate all future devices. small and fast. cons: WRITE SPEED: good grief, it is exactly as advertised. SLOW. i have generic usb 2 drives with better write speeds. kudos for accurate specifications and no stars docked. see above don't use this for lots ... Used this for loading the OS on systems and seems to work great. The 8GB dual DVD is now getting too small for some full distros and BD might cost too much for temp usage so 16 or 32GB is just about right. I'm not sure how many times I can make this a boot drive but have used it several times fixing some computers. ALSO since many new computers don't have a CD/DVD drive, you'll need something like this to reload a computer if you have to replace the drive. I haven't tried it on the Mac mini yet but I think it should work. I'll update if it doesn't work. YET I will say I try to avoid the SanDisk choices even though they can be cheaper and some software applications specifically state you shouldn't use SanDisk. I'm not sure what the exact reason why. But this is one of my first Kensington memory sticks as I've had to switch away from Lexar and I couldn't find something like this made by Samsung. Also this seemed to write with some good speed.
