This game isn't so much fun, even with friends. The asking price of $60 is a bit steep for what you get. The main campaign is less than 6 hours, and the formula from Return to Dreamland has started to become stale. In terms of difficulty, it is too easy. I sometimes think that even children will be bored by how simplistic it is. For an teen or an adult, it's a matter of mashing buttons until the boss dies. The aftergame, "Heroes in Another Dimension" ramps up difficulty, but only if you're trying to collect all the hearts. Still, this "difficulty" is mostly situations of cheap, instakill scenarios. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the game at its retail price, or even at $35, as it was a few black fridays ago. If you want to experience it, rent from a friend or a get ... Overall, this Kirby game gives tribute to the original Kirby series without sacrificing too much while adding new features/games/abilities. The friend feature which I can only attest to playing solo thus far, as you can play with other people and they take control of the other characters, is overall great as they are helpful and essential to moving along the story line, these friends act on their own and perform own attacks which you as Kirby may want to do yourself. My suggestion for this is to make less friends or no friends in the game! Still, the combo abilities of having those friends is a new and fun feature that is definitely welcomed in this game. I've finished roughly half the game and though the game isn't particularly long, it is worth the entertainment and nostalgia you may gotten from previous Kirby iterations. One thing that is different from those previous Kirby iterations is that you usually fly with Kirby into many different secret nooks and areas usually above many areas and that does not seem to be present in Star Allies. The story line is quite linear in stages and there aren't too many areas where you can "explore" and find secret areas. which I will say is what made previous version more fun. Still, great game that you can mindlessly play without requiring full focus and still greatly enjoy!

I wish I'd gotten this earlier because it is so much better than I thought it was! For some reason, I thought it was more Kirby Clash style because of the teamwork aspect but it's absolutely so much more. Great story, gorgeous visuals, fun and unique gameplay aspects. Overall a really good game for Kirby fans or new gamers alike. Highly recommend.

Kirby games in general have never been particularly difficult. I mean he can trivialize platforming just by flying! Star Allies makes you feel like a god then with the amount of powers that you can absorb. In an odd little way Star Allies feels more like a beat-em up with how the levels flow. Kirby has strong move sets with many of the powers he can absorb. If you have ever played a fighting game before you'll feel right at home with his combos and special moves. Since Kirby can throw a star to make regular enemies and defeated mid-bosses into allies, it gives you a ton of firepower to take on anything. So a couple little enemies are no match for your squad even when the AI is in control of them (if you have three human friends controlling your team it's even ... So a couple little enemies are no match for your squad even when the AI is in control of them (if you have three human friends controlling your team it's even easier). Even bosses have a tough time keeping up with how much damage you can dish out. Early boss fights are over in a flash and not until way late in the game did I need to use the dodge button to avoid attacks. The simple puzzles are fun. You'll have to figure out which combination of enemy powers works to discover secrets and unlock doors. There's also really fun team transformations that really change the pace of the game. From flying shooting segments to rolling through the stage as a destructive wheel, all are fun to see and happen just the right amount of times. But unfortunately the game is so easy that it's a breeze to get through. Amiibos can give you random power-ups to keep you going. Some allies can create health items for the whole team (and health can be shared by touching your teammates). And then there are enough pick-ups to keep your extra lives counter going up up up! Outside the main game there are some special challenge modes but I didn't get a chance to play them yet. They may provide the difficulty I seek. Overall though, despite being easy, Kirby Star Allies is A LOT of fun. You'll feel unstoppable with a full crew of allies!
This is such a fun and sweet Kirby game. I purchased this as a birthday gift for my six year old daughter. She loves the ability to play as Kirby's friends. Up to four players can play levels together at once, which is great for our big family of seven. It didn't take long to "beat" the game, but there are so many bonus and mini games also included, there's still plenty of game time left after completing the main campaign. A great addition to our Switch collection.
I bought this game during the Black Friday sale when it was $54.99 and even then, I don't think it was worth the price that I paid. I have just recently bought a Nintendo Switch and I wanted to play a Kirby game since I have loved them in the past. Although the game itself looked phenomenal with all of its animation, it was way too easy and way too short of a game. I finished the game within 5 hours, at the most and for much of it, if I were to stand still and press nothing, my team of allies would finish off the bosses for me. Overall, I think this game is more appropriate for younger kids rather than anyone who has ever played Kirby before, and I definitely think it should be a lower price.
To enjoy this game you really need to have the right expectations for it. The instructions given throughout the game are straight forward and helpful. Graphically this game looks great and the happy music is pretty good. It is fun to see what different characters' skills are and how they can combine with one another. This game allows players to join in whenever they want then they can jump out of the game and let the main player continue on. The computer is intuitive when you are playing with three other computer controlled characters. They figure stuff out and do help you out along the way. With all of that being said, it is not hard to fully accomplish these levels and beat the bosses. There are a couple of levels that I had to go back into to get the special ... With all of that being said, it is not hard to fully accomplish these levels and beat the bosses. There are a couple of levels that I had to go back into to get the special puzzle piece and push the main button but it isn't too tough to do. This is definitely a kid level difficulty and I wish they would have had an additional harder setting. Even though this game is not very hard, it is fun. I enjoyed playing it due to the cool characters and different decisions that you can make on some of these levels. It is also a great multiplayer game as up to four people can play together. So if you are looking for a fun game that is a break from more challenging games and allows you to have an enjoyable local multiplayer experience then this is for you.
This was my very first Kirby game to actually play and own! I never knew how Kirby games were but I did try the downloadable demo before getting this and I was impressed with how cute it was. I finished the main part of the game in about 40 hours but there's more content after that! This game was so fun to play and the music is absolutely amazing. I liked the soundtrack so much that I bought the OST for this game from Japan which is about 6 CDs of tracks for this game. I highly recommend it for anyone new to the Kirby franchise and who enjoy videogame music.
The graphics themselves are great...and that's about all that's great about this game(that and the music). While Kirby games haven't been known to be challenging, long time Kirby fans have said that this game is too easy even for a Kirby game and it's true. Passing the levels feels like a chore rather than fun . About the only times I've found myself having fun is when I get rid of the AI friends and have to beat a boss by myself. But aside from the game being too easy, the levels are very basic(there isn't much replay value other than finding the extra stage switch in some levels). Honestly this game isn't worth purchasing unless it's on sale (I'm talking like 29.99) and WITH the gamer's reward's club discount. But at 47.99(59.99 if you don't have the gamer's ... But at 47.99(59.99 if you don't have the gamer's reward's membership) it's simply too much to pay for this game. For 2/3 of the asking price you can buy Rayman Legends or for full price you can buy DK Tropical Freeze and you will get your money's worth with either game. Or you don't even have to go that far, for 1/5 of the price(for 11.99) you can buy Loderunner on the Nintendo eshop. It has single and multiplayer modes, it's actually challenging, and you can design levels and characters as well as play levels created by other people. Save your money people(split the bill with whichever friends you plan on playing this game with).
Kirby Star Allies, just like most Kirby games, is by no means a game that requires a lot of skill to play through. The allies mechanic is neat, but in single player mode the cpu's would solve the puzzles themselves. This mechanic seems to be more balanced towards a 4 person coo-op than a single player experience as the cpu allies can solve most puzzles with minimum effort. On that note the game doesn't stop holding your hand until the last few levels. Most puzzle contain hints that remove any need to think about the puzzles. Some of the bosses had interesting designs but I felt the boss fights weren't long enough or not enough was done with them. take the buff DeDeDe fight. the design I thought was highly amusing, but the fight itself felt lack luster. The second to last boss I felt was the only boss to require a bit of effort to defeat and had some interesting mechanics as it used similar attacks to the Allies power. I felt if the game had maybe 2 more worlds after this where it could finally flesh out more tof the mechanics in the game play and have bosses that were a bit more difficult this game would have been worth the full 60 dollars, but as it sits now I would suggest people wait on this game until there is a sale, or they can borrow it from a friend.
