Good looking, stainless steel, lost features

That original kettle was so good that when I saw this one, I just went ahead and picked it up, thinking that I would get a more modern version of the one I had, which started showing its age, as the handle was getting wobbly, the lid spring was gone, etc.Right after plugging the kettle in, I realized that KitchenAid didn't actually modernize the design and the implementation, but rather removed many of the features I enjoyed in the original kettle so much. The water gauge in the original model was very visible and clearly shows the water level in the kettle, while the new one is all but invisible, so one has to really stare at it to figure out how much water there is. Moreover, the old kettle had LEDs inside, so once the kettle was on, the water level was easy to see, even in dim lighting. One needs a flashlight now to see how much water is in the new kettle. The temperature gauge in the original kettle was clear and precise - just shows you the current water temperature. The new kettle has a slider with poorly visible small temperature markings, starting from 50C, with the extra 95C at the end, so if you used to make your tea at 92C, now somewhere between 80C and 90C-95C will have to do.The original kettle had two operating modes - boiling water and keeping water the temperature at some level. When I pressed the ON button, the water was boiled. When I pressed the heating button, it was kept at the temperature selected by the +/- buttons - doesn't get any more straightforward than this. The new kettle has a single gauge/slider, which means if one forgot to push it to 100C every time fresh water was added, it will not be boiled, just heated up to whatever setting it's at.As a side note, KitchenAid's Marketing Department needs to revisit the definition of "boiling" and this bit from the kettle description - "quickly and quietly boil to the temperature you need". The water boils at one temperature - 100C, and the way the temperature slider is designed, one cannot even say whether their tap water was boiled or just heated up.Turning the kettle on in the original kettle was a straightforward button push - one could do it with one hand because the pressure was applied down, against the base. The new kettle has the button on the side, so the kettle will likely move as the button is pushed and the first instinctive reaction I had when it happened was to hold the kettle on the other side, which is a bad idea because it gets quite hot. Get into the habit of holding the base when pushing the power button to avoid this. So, as far as kettles go, this is a good kettle - stainless steel, filter, detachable from the base, being main strengths. However, the new model clearly went through some cost-cutting design measures, while keeping the product price the same. There was one inconvenience in the original kettle in that I had to change 2x AA batteries in the kettle every few years, and it required a screwdriver, so this part could be improved indeed, but that bit and the lid spring were the only features that could be improved in the original design. Otherwise it was one of the best kettles I owned.I will keep the new kettle - it does boil water and looks good and I will adapt to all these little inconveniences, but it just makes me sad that all this design goodness was thrown away by some boardroom people who probably never made a cup of tea in their life.

Looks great, does the job, but a few design flaws

Look, a kettle is a kettle and, as long as it does the job, that's fantastic. But, when you're paying over $200 on a kettle (all of the others I looked at were on display, but not in stock! Hmmm), you'd expect it to be pretty much perfect. However, the water gauge on this kettle is very difficult to read/see, so filling it to the correct level (without over filling it) can be challenging. Also, if you've just used the kettle but not emptied it and you'd like to top up the water, the lid does not pop open at all whilst the kettle is still hot. It's like there's some kind of heat expansion thing happening that prevents the little latch from working. You need to wait until it's cooled a bit before you can add more water. Listen, QVC, the real cable length must be shown in the description like reputable Companies do. Call centre was helpful to provide us with free return labels and collection, thanks. Do not recommend this product to potential customers with sensitive hearing as well as for those who wakes up early in the morning.

[Rewarded Review] Great kettle
6 December 2024

Quiet, fast boiling, very good quality and functions well with the temperature control. Perfect finish. I read a lot of about the negative review, still decided to give it a go as I haven't had one before. The ding is OK, could be more enjoyable or reduce volume, or only when water is boiled. The top opening, again fine to use, does reuqire a change of habit as all other kettles I owned can be opened with single hand without touching hot metal. Just a little gap in design. Overall it's a very good kettle. Got it on special so not complaining. I would give 4.7

Once you have temperature control you’ll never go back. I purchased it 2 months ago in silver which I love, looks great.I like that the temperature control setting is easy to adjust and the charging base takes up minimal space on the bench (as other products temperature buttons are on the base, so it is much larger). When pressed, the button to boil the kettle makes a little ding like that on an aeroplane, which you get used to but I would prefer a different sound. The temperature control strip lights up as it’s boiling, which you get used to but I would prefer no lights. When pouring out excess water from the kettle, best to do via the spout and not by opening the top up, as the filter inside easily falls out, at first annoying but adjusted to pouring out ...Ā MoreOnce you have temperature control you’ll never go back. Would be much nicer to purchase it without a sticker being on it, even one that does peel off easily still leaves marks to clean.I would recommend this product and purchase it again. I would also consider a smaller version of this kettle if ever on the market as I don’t often boil it to its full capacity.

[Rewarded Review] Modern design with adjustable temperature options
24 March 2024

I LOVE this kettle! As a tea drinker, it can be hard to get the water to just the right temp for each type of tea. But with this kettle, you can actually set the temperature the water boils to (the manual even comes with a handy chart for temperature recommendations depending on what you are making). This has made green and white tea so much easier to make properly. I also really the sleek style of the kettle. It's more of an off white, so it doesn't match my Keurig completely, but they still look very nice together. I also appreciate the swivel base. It makes it so much easier to reattach the kettle to the base from any direction. My husband also noted how nice and sturdy if a cord this has as well. Overall, I highly recommend the Kitchen Aid kettle!

[Rewarded Review] Quality Products, but Surprised by beeping kettle
1 August 2024

First I should say that I like these products. When I picked up the kettle in store, it felt perfectly weighted. Not too heavy or light. I liked the mechanism of the lid opening. It was easy to open, and I didn’t need two hands to fill the kettle (while taking off the lid, like other designs). When I turned the kettle on at home, I was surprised by a loud ā€œdingā€. The sound repeated when I stated a boiling cycle, and when it had finished. With a newborn baby, that was 3 loud noises I could do without in the morning. There was no mention of any alert sound in the description. If I have known, I would’ve chosen another model. The toaster works just as it should. Nothing too fancy about it. Nice wide slots, and No alert sound!

The design is good. I like the color. It matches my kitchen well. It's a warm, bone off-white, but not yellowed. The capacity is decent. It holds 1.7 liters, which is about a half gallon. There is temperature control, but the measurements are in Celsius, so I had to look up the conversions to Fahrenheit. It took 4 minutes and 50 seconds to heat an entire pot at 100 degrees Celsius. It's pretty easy to use. It turns off after reaching its selected temperature. This is a feature I appreciate as I had an incident with a stove top kettle once and no longer use those kinds. I received this item for free in exchange for my honest review. 23 March 2024

Let me preface with the fact that I am an electric kettle girlie. ✨ I use mine every night for my tea and protein hot cocoas. My first electric kettle was a Bodum and I’ve been using a Beautiful brand electric kettle for quite a while now. Upon receipt of the Kitchen Aid kettle I was VERY excited because I love the Kitchen Aid brand. The kettle looks great with my other appliances and has a very sleek, aesthetically pleasing appearance. When you plug the kettle in it makes a cute elevator ā€œdingā€ sound and it also does the sound when the water is done boiling. The lid is very cute but don’t like how easy it is to coat it with finger prints. My biggest bones to pick with this kettle are 1) so much louder than my Beautiful kettle, 2) took longer to heat up and boil, 3) ...Ā MoreLet me preface with the fact that I am an electric kettle girlie. ✨ I use mine every night for my tea and protein hot cocoas. My first electric kettle was a Bodum and I’ve been using a Beautiful brand electric kettle for quite a while now. The lid is very cute but don’t like how easy it is to coat it with finger prints. My biggest bones to pick with this kettle are 1) so much louder than my Beautiful kettle, 2) took longer to heat up and boil, 3) the outside gets HOT because of the stainless steel. My main and primary concern for future buyers is the hot exterior. If you have small children that like to grab things on counters or would be at risk for touching the outside of the kettle after use, I’d personally choose a different kettle. For someone living alone or without small children, this is less of a hazard and concern. This kettle would also be good for someone who is the occasional user and not a daily user or connoisseur, as (like me) the user could be more prone to want more features. My last and final bone to pick with the kettle is how short the plug-in cord is. I’d love to see this be made with a longer cord or a retractable cord. Overall, it does seem like a good investment if it fits your needs after considering the pros and cons. This one might become my office kettle at work and I’ll leave the Beautiful kettle at home. šŸ”
