Only having used a very appreciated hand-me-down of an Andrew James mixer prior to purchasing this beast, it has to be said that Kitchenaid are doing it right. Powerful, quiet and versatile. Managed to make 4kg of the most glossy brownie mix in the 6.6l bowl. That equates to three 13" x 9" trays approx 1.3kg each. Wow. Just wow.

This replaced a completely different type of stand mixer and is good. I make bread several times a week and whilst it is mixing and then kneading in the bowl it doesn't move around the worktop at all. Nice and stable. It makes light work of mixing the ingredients for a sponge and whisking egg whites is a doddle. The only big niggle is trying to get the bowl back in position. I usually have problems doing this and end up pushing the mixer against the wall to enable me to get the bowl fixed on. Often my husband ends up doing this for me and he sometimes finds it difficult. It's a shame KitchenAid haven't come up with a better way of getting the bowl back on. The is the reason for not giving it 5 stars.

I've used my kitchenaid a handful of times to mix dough, batters and cookie mix. The machine motor seems powerful (enough to move the machine on the bench at full speed). The attachments are easy to fit but the plastic cover is a bit fiddly.Overall I think the quality is great and I'm excited to see just what this mixer can handle.
It’s a heavy duty piece of kitchen equipment that’s for sure. I don’t recommend if you’re looking for ease of use as the bowl attaches and locks in awkwardly. Also, you have to remove the attached mixing blade before removing the bowl if you have liquid batter inside which is inconvenient. I would probably buy the KitchenAid artisan again if I had the chance.
Earlier it used to take so much effort to make Swiss mirangue buttercream with electric hand mixer and my hands were sore as well but now it’s so easy. Also the me planning to make different kinds of bread, so I think it’ll be easy with this mixer. There are so many recipes which uses kitchen aid, so I am excited to try them all.
One month in and I am loving my new KSM70 stand mixer. I upgraded in size from a k mixer tilt head unit and the extra capacity has proven priceless. The extra power from the larger motor makes the bigger batches of bread easy. The only negative feedback I have is the unit still operates with the bowl down, a small safety issue but only a minor one.
Incredibly disappointed. My parents cooked and baked all week, every week - and a Kenwood Chef saw them through 25 years.A passionate chef myself, I decided to better them and go with a Kitchen Aid Heavy Duty stand mixer, because it was surely better , right?WRONG.It served me well UNTIL I got married, had a child and started making bread. Anything more than one 500 gm loaf (yes, ONE ) it began to heat up a lot, and I mean HOT. It struggled to mix it. As a parent I need to make two at a time, and they need kneading or don't work and rise properly. I queried the importer and repairier and both advised that KA only have 375 watt motors and - I kid thee not - "run for ten minutes, rest for fifteen".This utterly defeats the purpose of a mixer if the poor thing ... MoreIncredibly disappointed. I queried the importer and repairier and both advised that KA only have 375 watt motors and - I kid thee not - "run for ten minutes, rest for fifteen".This utterly defeats the purpose of a mixer if the poor thing needs to rest from exhaustion just when the work gets heavy, and holds up everyone else in the kitchen. It was also in it's own words 'heavy duty'... except sorry, NO YOU AREN'T!KA died recently; gearbox was cracked and motor windings were coming apart. So I researched every option in great depth, including the Bernardi My Baker (too specialised but brilliant at bread only). Hands down, the Kenwood Chef Baker XL is the winner and it arrives tomorrow. And it's only slightly prcier than a replacement gearbox and motor for the KA which would have returned it to it's 'new/lazy = useless' state. The Kenwood is built like a tank. It has a 1200 W motor. No gearbox but belt drive so strain is taken by belt not cogs. Bowl within a bowl so you can keep working. In-built scales. Stainless steel tools go in dishwasher and don't perish and shed grey oxide like the KA alloy/aluminium ones. HALLELUJAH!AVOID KITCHEN AID if you are a serious baker. If you only whisk eggs and cream sugar and make liquid batters and small portions of anything go for it. If you need a reliable, powerful workhorse, saddle up a Kenwood and shoot the Kitchen Aid on your way out of the stable.
Love using this Kitchenaid machine, it's quick at creaming butter, or cream itself, along with merigunes. It has got through kneeding some tricky doughs too and has saved me so much effort to make baking enjoyable. The low setting is great for folding gently. Would recommend the scrap edge beater though as normal beater can sometimes not get quite to the edge or bottom to cream butter that would get stuck to the bowl. Only slight detraction is being a lift up model it can be a bit hard to lock in, so have to use a bit of strength, but I guess that helps it say in place to do its magic. Overall really happy.
I bought this a month ago and have used it a few times. There was oil in the bottom of the bowl and it is now grey when you wipe the bottom of the spindle, indicating metal mixing with the oil. The oil seems to have stopped leaking now so I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like that. The Flex Edge Beater was also missing and has since been replaced. Overall it is a great strong mixer. I also have a KSM177 that took 4 weeks to get repaired so I bought a new one while I was waiting.
