I got the seven quart kitchenaid mixer after decades of having the artisan. I like it but it definitely has its negative points. The biggest issue is putting on the bowl. I find it unwieldy and unnecessarily awkward to attach it to the mixer. It is also difficult to add ingredients to the bowl when it’s attached. The whisk has to be moved to certain positions in order to get the ingredients in without a mess. I have made mashed potatoes three times in it in a larger quantity and find it difficult to tell when I have the right consistency. Once I tried to remove the whole bowl to check the consistency and could not get it back on because it was so heavy and my potatoes were a disappointment because I ended up using my hand mixer to finish them. I also tried to whip about a cup of whipping cream and had to stop because it could not manage that small an amount. Switching paddles/whisks attachment is also a pain in the middle of a recipe, like going from whisk to dough hook for bread for example. I really do miss my artisan, because not everything I do is in large quantities. When my husband bought me this for my birthday, I really wanted the Ankarsrum, but I got the kitchenaid instead because of its attachment abilities. The true test will be when I am canning and whether it is able to use the vegetable attachment that I use for making sauce, because the information at the time of purchase does not tell you which attachments are compatible.

We are big fans of the KitchenAid! My husband & I bought this for each other with 9 attachments, this last Christmas. We both cook and bake equally. We definitely like the 7 quart bowl rather than the 5. My main issue is.. it seems as they use the same mixing, beating accessories as the smaller quarts-they don't seem to reach the whole circumference of the bowl. I am constantly stopping it and pushing the ingredient's for the paddle, beater and/or dough hook to find. It's inconvenient but still it does not completely hinder my use. We have used half of the attachments we own; the Ice shaver, food processor, peeler, meat grinder & the ice Cream maker, which I would give all good reviews. When using any attachments, it gets very tall & awkward. I truly believe this ... MoreWe are big fans of the KitchenAid! We didn't realize the we're going to have to reconstruct our whole kitchen to have it organized and be able to use it daily with out struggle. Do you make KitchenAid organizers for the the attachments & accessories? It really would help for easy usage and storage. (Internet doesn't offer too much) Overall, the KitchenAid is a must have if you actually like to stay at home and not eat out.😉

Let me first admit: I've been a Kitchenaid Artisan girl for a long time... been through 3 iterations of them, each of which upgrading was a preference, not a breakdown issue. I've been very happy with artisan's performance and have used them heavily by themselves and with a plethora of attachments from meat grinding to zucchini noodles and everything in between. But one fateful evening, I listened over dinner with a coworker over how she bought a Kitchenaid Pro and "everything's better, bread is fantastic, cookie dough superior, blah blah blah." This went on for much longer than I thought it should have! But, yes, when it was time to do another upgrade, I jumped on the Kitchenaid Pro Boat to check it out. This went on for much longer than I thought it should have! But, yes, when it was time to do another upgrade, I jumped on the Kitchenaid Pro Boat to check it out. I really had no specific reason I needed the upgrade, more curiosity than anything else, and I truly didn't expect to find anything much different from my artisan that I've loved for so long.Yes, I understand why my friend went on and on about it now. Just Wow! Its quite hard to describe without someone just using it, but she was completely correct - the home recipe batter that I've been making for years came out with a FAR superior texture. I have many people in my family with health conditions that require very specific diets, leading me to create some very strange cakes that are devoid of sugar, and most things that make cakes easy to make - so they tend to come out rather strangely too. Using this Pro Line Bowl lift 7 Quart, I've had them come out as close to actual "normal" cakes as Ive ever seen! (any one who makes crazy diet restriction treats knows this is quite an accomplishment.) Making Bread dough with this has been a game changer too, this machine couldn't be more stable while working on my challah bread (of course, best french toast ever!) It feels like this thing could run all day without blinking an eye, the only problem I've had with it was that I didn't realize I wasn't clicking the bowl fully on the machine in the back (It has a divitt on the back of the pot that goes into a hole on the back, which makes it super sturdy. I was just laying it on until I thought it felt secure, leading me to hear a clicking sound when it was on. I felt super silly after I realized what I did, but when clicked in properly it runs effortlessly. I also must admit, I overuse the double flex edge attachment - it's just so satisfying to see it mix up absolutely every last molecule in the bowl :) By far, this is the best experience I've had with mixers, and if you're even slightly considering going with the pro, take the leap. It's just plain shocking to see how the extra power improves everything!
I bought my 7 quart "mineral water blue" stand mixer to replace my tilt head because I felt it would better handle some of the heavier baking I do. The "premium touch points" model was on sale and I liked this color. What I felt wasn't told is this is a matte/eggshell finish that I wasn't expecting at all - however it quickly grew on me and now I love it. (my last mixer was seaglass and shiny) My mixer stays on my counter uncovered and I feel this model won't ever look dusty, have finger prints or show scratches like a shiny model would. Only time will tell but so far I'm right. I love the half speed on the largest model, it handles cookie batter like a dream and I've already used the dough hook (stickers warn to only use up to speed 2!) and it worked great on a ... The stainless touchpoints over the classic black plastic FEEL and look really nice and are substantial. The heavy stainless attachments are very nice too. The included bowl scraper and pouring shield are already very useful tools. My only regret is that I didn't upgrade sooner. This model being more stable with heavy doughs than a tilt back head. Definitely a must for a heavy baker like me.
I received this mixer as a Christmas present and am soooooo pleased. I've had a Pro 600 for over 12 years, and it needed to have the gears/worm replaced. While I debated getting a new mixer, I used my daughter's 5-quart Artisan, which I found very underpowered. Fortunately, Santa came to the rescue! I've only used it for a couple of days and so far I LOVE it. It has superior heavy-duty STAINLESS attachments that are dishwasher safe. I was a little concerned about the decrease in wattage (from 575 to 500), but I have been making cookies without an issue. Even the ciabatta dough mixed without effort. I haven't tried it with a heavier dough yet, but I am optimistic. The motor is much quieter than the 600 so that is a plus considering our open floorplan. After reading ... After reading all the questions, I was delighted to find out that I can use my old 6-quart bowl with my new mixer. Now I can make more cookies without having to wait to wash a bowl. My next experiment will be whipping my meringue for macarons. BTW, for those who were as confused as I was, "Redesigned Premium Touchpoints" means they have new knobs and handle designs. (Why not just say that?!?!?) They are indeed a really nice change from the little black knobs that broke on my old 600.What I miss is a nice glossy instruction booklet to describe all the features and give tips on using the mixer, and maybe a few recipes to boot. There are only 9 pages that include a schematic, safety, assembly, care, warranty, and service information. The only really useful thing was the speed guide for the accessories. Can't wait to whip up my next batch of cookies!
Be prepared to fall in love with this glorious mixer! I tenderly refer to my KitchenAids as my ‘Big Girl Mixer’, but this one should be renamed to my ‘Big Girl Beast Mixer!” Everything about the mixer shouts quality, durability, and reliability. It replaced my 6 quart pro KitchenAid, which was still trucking along like a champ after multiple uses (note that I had to replace the off/on master switch two years ago. Thanks to YouTube for guiding me through the mechanical part of replacing the switch!). I am a hardcore baker, so my machines get multiple workouts throughout the week. The bowl on this one is deeper (naturally since it is 7 quart) and more narrow, so less opportunity for the flour to fly out of the sides. I always despised using the plastic bowl guard because it was so big, round, and hard to wash. Not this one! It’s much smaller in diameter and has plastic guards that settle it onto the bowl all nice and snuggly. It comes with multiple attachments which are considerably heavier (as noted above) and larger than the smaller model attachments. It makes me content, happy, and excited every time I hold one of my new attachments. That may sound odd to some, but other home bakers who love their KitchenAid mixer will understand and be shaking their head in agreement. The look and feel of every attachment screams quality.Turning the machine on is when you know that you have arrived to a commercial grade mixer at a home baker’s price. The motor is smooth as butter, but yet tough sounding like a v8 motor kicking in the team of workhorses.I have also gone back to the traditional vibrant white color. It makes me so happy every time I look at my mixture standing proudly on the counter. It takes me back a bit to the glorious 90s!My recommendation is that every home baker should have one of these beauties. I would highly recommend buying one for any baker in your life or buying one for yourself if you are the baker of the family. It will be a GREAT day when the baker unboxes this beauty! Oh happy day!!!
Incredibly disappointed. My parents cooked and baked all week, every week - and a Kenwood Chef saw them through 25 years.A passionate chef myself, I decided to better them and go with a Kitchen Aid Heavy Duty stand mixer, because it was surely better , right?WRONG.It served me well UNTIL I got married, had a child and started making bread. Anything more than one 500 gm loaf (yes, ONE ) it began to heat up a lot, and I mean HOT. It struggled to mix it. As a parent I need to make two at a time, and they need kneading or don't work and rise properly. I queried the importer and repairier and both advised that KA only have 375 watt motors and - I kid thee not - "run for ten minutes, rest for fifteen".This utterly defeats the purpose of a mixer if the poor thing ... I queried the importer and repairier and both advised that KA only have 375 watt motors and - I kid thee not - "run for ten minutes, rest for fifteen".This utterly defeats the purpose of a mixer if the poor thing needs to rest from exhaustion just when the work gets heavy, and holds up everyone else in the kitchen. It was also in it's own words 'heavy duty'... except sorry, NO YOU AREN'T!KA died recently; gearbox was cracked and motor windings were coming apart. So I researched every option in great depth, including the Bernardi My Baker (too specialised but brilliant at bread only). Hands down, the Kenwood Chef Baker XL is the winner and it arrives tomorrow. And it's only slightly prcier than a replacement gearbox and motor for the KA which would have returned it to it's 'new/lazy = useless' state. The Kenwood is built like a tank. It has a 1200 W motor. No gearbox but belt drive so strain is taken by belt not cogs. Bowl within a bowl so you can keep working. In-built scales. Stainless steel tools go in dishwasher and don't perish and shed grey oxide like the KA alloy/aluminium ones. HALLELUJAH!AVOID KITCHEN AID if you are a serious baker. If you only whisk eggs and cream sugar and make liquid batters and small portions of anything go for it. If you need a reliable, powerful workhorse, saddle up a Kenwood and shoot the Kitchen Aid on your way out of the stable.
The color is gorgeous! The motor is stronger and much quieter than my 30 year old previous model with the flip lid. I have several attachments and believe this motor supports these better with a more powerful engine. The bowl is much bigger, but sometimes I wished it scraped the bottom better if I don't have a lot in it. The flip lid vs the drop install makes it easier to change the whisk, knead, or mixer, but again, the trade off of bowl size, quiet motor, and power makes the change worth it. On the old flip lid, my lock button broke so it popped up and down over the years, but the lock of the drop bowl is solid! I make a lot of bread, so I believe it was worth it to me that the bowl doesn't move and want yo eventually shimmy off of the counter top. The finish is ... MoreThe color is gorgeous! The attachment screw cover is attractive and fairly easy to install. Maybe a little bigger or finger set would make it easier to lock and unlock, but it is easy overall. If you are just making cookie batter, this may not be the one you need, but if you have lots of attachments and make heavy dough breads, she is your girl!
I owned a stand bowl-lift mixer for 25 years that I loved. Unfortunately, it was lost in a fire that destroyed our community and our home. I decided to purchase a new one from a very reputable dealer, thank goodness. That one arrived and the first time using it, it was obvious there was something wrong with the motor—it made a grinding sound even on low speed. I contacted the store from which I purchased it, and they had me ship it back and sent a replacement. This time the motor sounded right, yet my first time using it with an attachment, the silver ring behind the removable “KitchenAid” round cover fell out. The little tabs of the metal would not allow it to be replaced and stay in place. The company I purchased from would have replaced it again, but that means ... This time the motor sounded right, yet my first time using it with an attachment, the silver ring behind the removable “KitchenAid” round cover fell out. The little tabs of the metal would not allow it to be replaced and stay in place. The company I purchased from would have replaced it again, but that means finding a shipping box, taking it to UPS again, and being without a mixer another three weeks. My husband decided to work on it and was able to bend the metal tabs back and pound the piece back in until it stays. I HOPE IT STAYS. I decided to keep this one, as there is no guarantee a replacement would have a good working motor.Would I buy it again, probably not…but I’ve been a faithful fan of their mixers for 45 years.Dear KitchenAid, you need to save your reputation NOW.
