I purchased this mixer in the Aqua Sky color and I am extremely satisfied. I almost didn't buy this because someone said that Aqua Sky is "just blue" when really, it does have a smidge of green in it to give it that light aqua/turquoise color. Iāve worked in graphic design for years, I know when something is all blue when it has a smidge of green in it. If I had to give you an idea of the color IRL, I'd say it's close to robins egg blue with a smidge of green, not much, but enough to make it considered aqua or turquoise. If I had to give you an idea of the color IRL, I'd say it's close to robins egg blue with a smidge of green, not much, but enough to make it considered aqua or turquoise. On top of the color, these mixers are typically built to last. My mom has owned the same mixer for 20 years it's still running beautifully. She has never needed to get it serviced or needed a replacement Also, we used her mixer at least once a week if not more. But I do understand, one could argue "they're not built the same now as they were many years ago" that could be the case but if this mixer lasts me at least 10 years I will be extremely happy. I read a few of the bad reviews about scuffs, marks on the mixer dents in the bowl so I checked all of those places out first. I plan on cleaning the bowl since most people stated it comes coated in some dark powder/residue. Mine does not appear to have this, but I can feel a "powdery" substance in the bowl but had assumed it was part of the manufacturing process so I had already planned on cleaning it real good. My mixer did come with a few "dark smudge" spots but I was able to easily wipe them off. I did, however, experience a piece of shrapnel fall off from underneath the mixer into the bowl. It looked like a piece that wasn't supposed to be on the mixer anywhere I found it by running my hands underneath the head of the mixer when i went to put on a different attachment. The only part about this that really concerns me is that if I did not catch this sooner, it could have gotten baked into food someone could have broken a tooth on it or torn up their gums because it was sharp. I do not have a pic of the shrapnel. Just make sure you really look over your mixer before baking anything i wipe it down all around with a slightly damp rag or something similar. When it comes to using machinery with food, I never leave anything to chance so I wipe down everything no matter what I buy when it comes to kitchen appliances. Iāve also ran my mixer for a few minutes it has not ran hot or overheated like some other people are having issues with. Iāve attached photos of my mixer in the Aqua Sky color. The bright photo is with the flash the other not so bright photos are in a more "yellow" toned light. Also, if you're having a hard time trying to figure out what color mixer you want especially when it come to the blues, I recommend looking up a YouTube video on the Artisan Mixers. You can find videos where they compare all the colors side by side. There is a guy who even did a video showing the mixers in different lighting. This helped me a lot when i was trying to find the perfect color for me.

I do, however, find it easier to use the various controls with the machine facing backwards. Maybe that is just me, but until I went to adjust the beater height (which is an easy process) I didnāt even realise I was using the machine facing the wrong way. I love the two bowls which easily fit inside each other as I always used to have to wash bowls when doing different flavours.I would highly recommend this machine.

So far I have the pasta attachment, flour sifter and scale, spiralizer and the vegetable sheet maker and they ALL work wonderfully!!Last but not least is the ceramic bowl that I ordered to complete my kitchen look. I didn't even know you could buy the specific BOWL to really give your Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer the final creative touch to complete your kitchen look. The ceramic bowl locks into place just as easily as the metal or glass bowls do for use and really give your mixer the final pop for look in your kitchen.I started using my stand mixer so much that I got tired of moving it from the pantry to the counter top every time so I decided to keep it on the counter top. Adding the ceramic bowl complimented the stand mixer so much and really made my Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer more of a focal point in my kitchen rather than an appliance on my counter top.
I got this just in time to start my Christmas baking frenzy. I found out that I had to get used to it as it does cream and whip a lot more efficiently than my older stand mixer. Once I got the hang of it, it was then smooth sailing! The biggest adjustment was that I couldnāt scrape the bowl while it was mixing - I had to stop it each time. The beater is very efficient and rotates well around the bowl, even though I still had to scrape it occasionally. Adding flour to a cream mixture was also an adjustment that I had to get used to. My stand came with the plastic shield, which kept the area a lot cleaner, and made it easier to incorporate other ingredients. If you donāt have it, I would recommend you get one. My stand came with the plastic shield, which kept the area a lot cleaner, and made it easier to incorporate other ingredients. If you donāt have it, I would recommend you get one. I found I used the flat beater with a rubber edge more than the other flat beater. It makes creaming the sugars and butter quicker and easier. The only problem I noticed with the rubber part was that it held on to the odor of peanut butter after I had made a peanut butter cookie. I have washed it several times, I hope the smell will eventually dissipate. The cookies I made afterwards did not have a peanut butter flavor, which is good. I purchased the chrome colored mixer, and there are some spots that the color has faded, and there is a scratch on it that I must have inadvertently put on when I was raising the top up. Overall, Iām glad I got this, and I look forward to many years of happy baking!

Iāve used it several times per week since it arrived in January. Some items in the order took longer than others to arrive, so I didnāt have all the āpiecesā until the second week of January.I was particularly excited to use the mixer to make bread dough. I enjoy having homemade bread on hand and the thought of not having the floury mess on my counter every couple days was appealing. Since Iāve never used a mixer to make bread dough before, I decided to use one of KitchenAidās recipes to begin with to get an idea of what order to add ingredients, what speed to use and how long to knead. Iāve made several batches of bread now and can say that the recipe for Basic Bread makes a nice tasting loaf that is good for both sandwiches and toast. It slices well, even for the thin slices my husband prefers for toast. What surprised me, though, was the fact that the mixer seems to struggle to mix the dough once you have all of the flour added and it is in the kneading stage. It keeps going, but the top wants to pop upā¦the first batch I made it actually DID pop up and down enough times that it wiggled the down lever right out of the locked position! Iāve learned that I need to stand there with my hand resting on the top to keep it from doing thatā¦and this is with one of KitchenAids recipes, which you would think would be developed specifically for their mixer. The dough, once it gets to the kneading stage, also builds up on the dough hook to the point that it climbs over the top of it and creates a ball of dough. The first time I used it for bread dough, I kept stopping the mixer and scraping the dough back down, but then I came across a tip that said to coat the dough hook with olive oil or something similar to help prevent that. It worked pretty well, but toward the end of the kneading stage it started to do it again anyway, so the oil must have gotten incorporated into the dough by then.Iāve also made pie crust, which came out beautifully. No concerns there. With the slicer/shredder attachment, Iāve tried it on numerous cheeses, a number of veggies, and a stick of pepperoni so far. With the cheesesā¦it works great, particularly on the firmer cheese. Softer cheese, like American and mozzarella using the larger-holed grater, it grated the cheese nicely, but it does build up inside the slicing chamber and creates tubes of softer cheese between the grated blade and the white housing that you find when you take the grating cylinder out. Theyāre usable and fine, just unexpected. Iāve learned that if you are grating multiple types of cheese for a recipe, do the firmer cheese first and end with the softer cheeses as they leave behind a bit of a mess inside the attachments. The same approach applies to grating veggiesā¦firmer veggies work better than softer veggies. Onions through the grater ended up being onion slurry. Onions through the slicer were OK, but still a bit mangled. Carrots through the grater, by contrast, were much better. After the onions, I didnāt even attempt celery through the grater, but it went through the slicer okā¦although there were some interesting celery strings wound around the slicing tool when I got done. Potatoes sliced wellā¦I havenāt tried grating them yet since I havenāt needed grated potatoes for anything so far.Overall opinion on the slicer/shredder is that it works nicely on firmer things, hit and miss on softer thingsā¦.and nothing Iāve put through it so far in terms of veggies are a nice, consistent slice like I get with my mandoline slicer. If youāre not worried about a consistent ālookā to the results, then it does save lots of timeā¦if youāre making a fancy dish for company or an event and want nice, clean, consistent slicesā¦.this is not your tool.Overall Iām very pleased with the mixer and happy with my purchase. I havenāt had it long enough to test out every dish I might use a mixer for, but so far so good. Iām concerned about how much it labors doing bread doughs, since that was the primary reason I purchased it, but time will tell.
This is a very expensive product, that is supposed to ease your life. Well, supposedly. We only tried to do some spread/mayo, three times so far. What it was supposed to be straight forward, turned into a 3 hours hard work trying to restore/fix, with a vertical and manual mixer, what this expensive mixer was supposed to do with ease. We don't trust this device anymore, it just sits on the counter taking up space. We might give it another try for the other features, hook dough maybe, but at this point we would happily return it or exchange it for a more reliable model. The side metal band carrying the brand name is loose, I wanted to glue it in place, it won't stay. The plastic shield/protector barely stays in place, it is loose and not fit for purpose. Don't let ...Ā MoreThis is a very expensive product, that is supposed to ease your life. Where has the quality control gone KitchenAid?We were considering extending the mixer with some more accessories, but we just won't do it for now. We spent enough on this brand, which we thought it's top, until it wasn't anymore. So disappointed.
Love the matte white finish, itās so elegant and goes perfectly with the decor I have now, or may have in the future, and thatās why I chose it. So far itās working good. I took it down a star because my old KA mixer that I had for 15 years still works great, but I wanted a different color to match my kitchen, and unfortunately in doing so I found out the hard way that KitchenAid no longer puts the spring in that holds the paddles snuggly in place; so now the new mixer clicks as the paddle turns because itās a loose fit, and the click gets louder and more annoying as the batter Iām mixing gets thicker. The motor also seems to be struggling a little, too. It will randomly slow down and then speed up on its own during the same mixing cycle with no new ingredients ...Ā MoreLove the matte white finish, itās so elegant and goes perfectly with the decor I have now, or may have in the future, and thatās why I chose it. It will randomly slow down and then speed up on its own during the same mixing cycle with no new ingredients being added. That makes me nervous. In all, when making the decision to get a new stand mixer just know these newer models may click and in researching it I found out the paddle attachments will probably wear down quicker with the rubbing of the metals together. I think it was a poor decision on KitchenAidās part to remove the spring that holds those paddles in place. And maybe itās not bothersome to some, but it definitely does bother me with the incessant clicking.
Iāve been an owner of a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for many years. My previous one was still running well, but the latch that locks down the heavy top arm (including motor and beaters) was failing. I bought another Artisan for a great price at BB&B. When the product arrived, I removed the contents from the box and hand washed the bowl and attachments. I was excited because this set included the new flex-edge beater. When I took out the mixer to use it the first time, I noticed what looked like rust around the top edge of the bowl. I wiped it off and used the mixer. The mixer works fine, as Iād expect from KitchenAid. However, after a handful of uses and hand washing each time, the top rim of the stainless steel bowl rusts. I called Customer Service and was told the rust is caused by hard water. I donāt know if I have hard water in my city, but my previous mixerās bowl was also stainless steel and it never rusted. A replacement bowl has been shipped to me, and Iāll have to see if this one rusts. Thatās disappointment #1. #2 is the flex-edge beater. I was expecting it to do a better job of wiping the sides and bottom of the bowl so I donāt have to stop the mixer and use a spatula to wipe down the sides and bottom, which is awkward with the beater in place. No such luck. I donāt see that the flex-edge does any better at wiping the bowl than the regular beater. Iām glad I didnāt pay more for the flex-edge beater that was included in this set. I donāt recommend buying it separately.
I purchased the Artisan model (stainless steel color) on 12/19/21 as a present to myself. I had the classic model for 20+ years, it still worked, but i wanted the bigger bowl and there were a lot of glowing reviews on the Artisan. I received the new mixer a day or so before or after Christmas, which was after i had done my Christmas baking, which is when I use it the most. I barely used it during the 2022 year, which isnāt typical of me. Yesterday (12/17/22) was my Christmas cookie dough mixing day. I was at it all day. I mix all the dough on one day and bake all day, the next day. I mix all the dough on one day and bake all day, the next day. Starting with the very first cookie dough , the mixerās motor was making a straining sound (as if it was struggling), especially at lower speeds. Cookie dough is inherently soft, the motor should not be making ANY kind of straining sound when its in the act of creaming butter (first step of basically any cookie recipe). Of course the straining sound got a bit worse when the dough becomes more dense (say to āstirā in oatmeal or chocolate chips towards the end of a recipe). Mind you, this is what I experienced with my very FIRST batch of cookie dough and the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach only got worse with each successive cookie recipe I made after that. The mixer did not break down, but the motor making that straining sound, it doesnāt bode well, itās only a matter of time. Itās doing that when brand new? What? My 20+ year old Classic Kitchenaide mixer DID NOT do that. I bought this Artisan mixer on the strength of my positive experience with the Classic Kitchenaide. I didnāt test drive the Artisan model right away cuz⦠why? Itās a Kitchenaide. BIG EXPENSIVE MISTAKE. I am so aggravated that I will retire that thing back into the box and out of my sight because having it on my kitchen counter just is a constant reminder of my mistake. I will reach out to Kitchenaide to see what they will do, but I do not have high hopes and I am not looking forward to the hassle of addressing this. For those of you that read negative reviews first, in order to decide whether or not to purchase, do yourself a big favor and IF you purchase the Artisan model (or any Kitchenaide model, honestly). USE IT RIGHT AWAY. Put it to a test. That way you can return it to Bed Bath & Beyond within their 60 day return policy for small appliances which is a lot easier than what I am going to have to do (call Kitchen Aide).
