Artisan 5 Qt Kitchen Aid mixer - a good purchase

Still relatively new, only used twice, but the Artisan Kitchen Aid mixer has met all my expectations so far. Did an excellent job in mixing butter and sugar for a buttercream frosting. Admittedly, even though I used the pouring shield, the powdered sugar dust still did find a way to escape into the air. A problem I doubt can be remedied. I appreciate the feature allowing the stainless steel bowl to lock into the base; feels solid and secure while mixing. That, plus the power of the motor and overall ease in use, makes it a good purchase; one I wish I had made years ago. I am looking forward to whipping some meringue in the near future.. Note, it is a heavy unit; one I will not be moving frequently. I found a nice corner on my counter where it fits perfectly.

Beautiful red color and it’s so quiet!
27 March 2019

I got this recently and I adore it. I have one that is 15 years old and I am so impressed with this new one. For starters the red and chrome detail is gorgeous! The attachments are gray. The only downside to attachments is the wisp attachment is not dishwasher safe- I can forgive that, I just hope I remember it. The lowest speed is actually low- the older one even low was enough the throw ingredients out on your counter, but this one really does start out slow. It is also so much quieter! Even on high speed this one is quieter than my old one one low. This is huge because now I can actually talk to my kids while we are baking and mixing. Headbanging like in the middle of a rock concert
26 October 2020

I am in a similar situation like the NY baker is facing. I purchased this mixer a while ago and have not used it until recently. I used it to make a soft toast dough and it is headbanging like in the middle of a rock concert, and it is shaking and trying to jump off the countertop. I read all FAQs, I have contacted the support, and followed the KitchenAid YouTube instructions to adjust the mixer, none of them helps. I was thinking this anniversary version should be better than the regular version, or at least the same. My friend’s regular mixer performs way better than this anniversary version. I think I got a defective product(one of the screws is missing on the bottom of the mixers). Very very disappointed with this mixer. :(

If you're in the market for a mixer of many different coats look no further. KitchenAid celebrates its' 100 year anniversary this year with this retro K series. The color is very sleek and brings you back to great grandma's kitchen as if you could almost smell the chocolate chip cookies. The mixer is well built and sturdy so you don't have to worry about knocking it off the kitchen counter. One thing I absolutely adore is the locking mechanism for the mixing bowl aka no more having to make sure the bowl is aligned properly otherwise it'll fall over. The bowl can be taken off the mixer and sit flush onto the kitchen counter. The kitchen aide comes with a splatter guard, a dough hook, a flat beater, and a wire whip. The possibilities are endless!

Lever on right side fixes bread dough head-banging
9 June 2022

There’s a lever on right hand side that resolves this issue when kneading dough. There’s a setting (you do with a coin, twisting a nut) to resolve height of beater attachment so batters get mixed and the beater doesn’t actually hit the bowl. You have to undo worm screw and lift the head to get at it, but it’s easy to do, and get perfect fit.I found the ā€œadjust beaterā€ video on YouTube.Sorry, my cat is on my lap so no photos. Flip the head banger lever forward and it locks the head in place. Push it back to release and raise the head. I didn’t realize the function of that lever on the first one I had and I’d stand there like a dummy holding the head down while my focaccia dough mixed. There’s something to be said for reading those manuals that come with things. ...Ā MoreThere’s a lever on right hand side that resolves this issue when kneading dough. There’s a setting (you do with a coin, twisting a nut) to resolve height of beater attachment so batters get mixed and the beater doesn’t actually hit the bowl. Don’t let a 1-star review put you off this magnificent machine.I got the red 100 Anniversary and it’s my 3rd Kitchenaid stand mixer since 2009. I give them away as presents to family when they ā€œOh! Ahh!ā€ Mine.I’ve cooked with all of them, made quite a bit of bread and everyone worked a champ. I actually got the red one (school colors) for someone else and they’ll prob get for Christmas. I save the boxes and they look like new.I love this mixer. My favorite new trick is shredding boneless, COOKED chicken for chicken salad with the beater attachment.

Not Like Kitchen Aid Mixers of the Past :(

I received the 100 Year Limited Edition Queen of Hearts 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer for my birthday. Using it to make chocolate chip cookies, I noticed it doesn’t work like the one I had before.I called Kitchen Aid and explained that the Kitchen Aid Mixer beater falls off when I lift the motor head to scrap the bowl, also that while ingredients are mixing the beater noisily bounces, up and down. The representative said that the beater is too low, he told me a dime test… you can watch a video on YouTube on how to do a ā€œDIME TESTā€, but that video is for calibrating the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer and to adjust the beater from bowls clearance. I told the representative that the beater/bowl clearance was not the problem, either she didn’t understand what I was saying, ...Ā MoreI received the 100 Year Limited Edition Queen of Hearts 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer for my birthday. But then, my previous mixers were purchased before 2016. In 2016, Kitchen Aid decided to cut costs, saying, ā€œSPRING REMOVED FOR EASE OF CLEANING, We no longer put springs and washers on the beater’s shaft.ā€ My opinion, the results, Kitchen Aid is making Kitchen Aid Mixers products that are poor quality. If people can’t clean the spring, why not have videos instructing them how to clean? Instead, Kitchen Aid decides to remove the spring and washer, resulting in a poor performance mixer.

Truffle Dust is Gorgeous
10 January 2020

I bought this mixer sight unseen and am very happy with the way Truffle Dust looks in person. The color is like a mix of pewter and taupe with a high gloss finish and there is some definite shimmer in there - super pretty. My lighting is incandescent (therefore warm) so keep that in mind with the photo. As for the mixer itself, I am very happy. The motor is nice and powerful - 325 watts so much more powerful than the Classic at 275 watts or even the Ultra Power at 300 watts. And it comes a bowl with a comfort handle, splash guard (very handy), flat beater, dough hook and whip so you don't have to buy anything else to use it for pretty much every baking task I can think of. Worked 3 times then wouldn’t start the next time!

I wanted a stand mixer for years and finally purchased this mixer on 1/25/2020. I was quite pleased with it the first two times I used it making cookie dough and then bread dough. The next time, when making banana bread, it started making noises like it was starting and stopping intermittently, but I was able to complete the mixing of the batter. The next time I wanted to use it was on 2/4/2020 and the motor just wouldn’t start. I verified that the outlet had power and tried it again, but it still wouldn’t start. I was very happy with it the first two times that it worked but am now greatly disappointed with it. I’ll be taking it back to Costco for a replacement in hopes that it was just a defective unit that slipped past their quality control and that the next one ...Ā MoreI wanted a stand mixer for years and finally purchased this mixer on 1/25/2020.
