The Klymit insulated Hammock V sleeping pad does what it is meant to do.Pros:- It is light weight.- Has an R rating of 4.4, I used it in a 30F weather and it worked pretty wellCons:- I brought this mainly for backpacking, while it is easy to setup, packing it back in is not the easiest. It's a challenge to get it back into the sack.- Did not work well with a single hammock it kept popping out of the hammock and it was hard to get on to the hammock. I had to buy a double hammock for it to fit well.

I've spent nearly 50 nights sleeping in my hammock with this sleeping pad. I love that is creates an sleeping platform that even a side sleeper will find comfortable. I have only had one issue in which the valve seal wouldn't hold air. The warranty replacement was fast and without issue. Highly recommended necessity for hammock camping.I disagree that this pad is hard to roll up. It just takes care and planning to properly fold it, and of course rolling it once the get the air out and a second time to pack it. I will even roll it up while it is still inside the hammock if there is rain or the ground might put a hole in it. A firm surface, like hard packed dirt or a picnic table, is preferred for the best results.

It is a good sturdy material that comes in a nice stuff sack. After I rolled it up I feel like there was more room in the bag than when I took it out. Very easy to inflate but a little tricky to deflate. Fit in my ENO doublenest great and did not slide around. The flaps kept it spread open and it was not to bad to move onto my side. First night took some getting used to on how firm it was. The flaps did make it a little more difficult to get in and out of the hammock. It is lightweight but surprised how much it weighed based on the material. Overall it is a great hammock pad and cant wait to use it again on my next camping trip.

Took it out for a solo camp straight after receiving it. I used with my Hennessy hammock under entry style. Inflated surprisingly fast with about 10 breaths. Stayed solidly inflated all night. Didnβt slip much in hammock, wings are great when you roll over or have arm lean out. Outside temp was 4oC in a -4 comfort sleeping bag and this matt it was super warm all night. So much better than old matt has enabled winter camping. Also packs nice and small, about the size of a jet boil. Great product so far hope it lasts.
My partner and I camp a lot out of the back of my Jeep.We were looking to do something different for a change so we decided on hammock camping so we didn't have to take the Jeep and could walk off into some Australian National Parks to camp amongst the wildlife and beneath the trees. It can get pretty cold out but nothing unbearable like elsewhere in the world so I figured an inflatable mat would be ideal as opposed to a cumbersome delicate under quilt.I never buy anything without researching it first and boy did I do some digging to finally come to this mat. It's insulated, lightweight, compact, easily inflates and durable. Seems like it would be the absolute perfect mat to chuck in your hammock to keep the cool air beneath you away and leave you warm ...Β MoreMy partner and I camp a lot out of the back of my Jeep.We were looking to do something different for a change so we decided on hammock camping so we didn't have to take the Jeep and could walk off into some Australian National Parks to camp amongst the wildlife and beneath the trees. Seems like it would be the absolute perfect mat to chuck in your hammock to keep the cool air beneath you away and leave you warm right?WRONG... wrong, wrong wrong.I opened mine and my partner's up when it arrived from Amazon (and yes I made sure they were authentic by comparing it to a friends and scouring meticulously online to ensure I wasn't getting a knock off), I inflated them in the living room on the carpet and could already see how lightweight and "well-made" these things were. It definitely looks the part but it seemed as though the material was different to some other pads I'd slept on before touting similar specs. That weekend (early July, which is Winter in Australia) we took it for the first and only trip we would ever use it on.BOTH mine and my partners mat's deflated within the first couple of hours leaving us cold and miserable. We would blow them back up only to have them deflate again within another hour or so. Temps got down to around -1 celcius which was nothing compared to some temps we'd camped in before with the Jeep. Safe to say we both ended up with runny noses and super sour taste in our mouths from the experience. When we got home I tried to contact the seller on Amazon and learned that THEY DON'T ACCEPT REFUNDS!!!! What the actual ****?!I tried submerging it in water while inflated to see if I could see any bubbles and unfortunately I couldn't pinpoint where the small leak(s) were coming from on either mat.Safe to say I'll never be recommending Klymit or any of their products to anyone we know and will actively be enlightening people on the experience we had.
I met the team from Klymit at the Outdoor Retail Show in Park City, UT in August 2022. Before this, I had not heard of the brand. They have a wide variety of interesting products, but as a hammock camper, this one captured my attention almost immediately.I have used my old Thermarest (a circa 1996 standard 3/4) for years, but have always hesitated to take it out in "really cold" weather (I live in northern GA, so this translates to "upper 20's F"). The thermarest pad was easy to "lose" in the hammock, did not provide any insulation on the sides, and my feet were always cold. If I was camping in cold weather, I would pair it with my Hennessey three-season underquilt.Because of this experience, I had my doubts about the Klymit insulated pad. Fortunately, the Klymit pad is purpose-built for hammocks and is a complete marvel!Last weekend, I made a trip to the Ellicot Rock Wilderness, with lows in the upper 30's. The pad exceeded all of my expectations for warmth. I don't know that there is a recommended rating, but I would be comfortable trying it again in conditions dipping into the upper 20's.Rolled up, it takes less room in my pack than my 40 degree underquilt. It probably weighs about the same as a 20 degree underquilt (unverified!).I have used it in both my "double" hammock as well as an ultralight single. It fits both well. Because my single is a bit shorter than the double, I use it with a ridge line to put a little extra sag in the hammock so I can sleep on a diagonal. Unfortunately, it does not work well in a "diagonal" configuration, but fits perfectly when centered. The pad has a tacky surface on both the top and bottom to prevent slipping off the hammock as well as the pad from moving in the hammock. This works surprisingly well.Compared to my Thermarest, the only disadvantage is that the pad does not self-inflate. I have blown it up manually, and have found that it takes 16-18 good breaths. Done a few at a time, this isn't a bad experience. I have opted for a small rechargeable pump, however.Perhaps my biggest gripe about the product is the difficulty in folding and rolling it. I don't think I have successfully got it back into its bag with less than three re-rolls. Unfortunately, because of its larger size, this almost has to be done on my hands and knees on the ground. One of the first few times I used the pad, I had failed to seal the "deflate" valve fully (it looked closed!). The pad lost air, but I have learned to double-check this minor detail and the problem has not recurred.Great product, highly recommended.
Just received it. Have been backpacking with a hammock for over 13 years. I have been using other pads for my winter camping, but usually end up with cold spots for the pad shifting or not covering a large area. Upon receipt I inflated it. I found that it will definitely cover the area that I need it to cover. At this point in time the only draw back I see is that it is a little in the heavy side. I would like to see this pad made similar to the ultra lite to reduce some weight.
I liked the idea of hammock camping but couldn't get comfy and then dealt with being chilled in the shoulder seasons due to compression of my sleeping bag underneath me thereby losing insulation. This pad MADE hammock camping my go to! It keeps the hammock in a slightly flatter stance, the wings keep it open and the insulation makes things nice and toasty! I wasn't a fan of the hammock blankets on the outside so this was the perfect addition to my gear! Well worth the investment!
I haven't used it, it's just huge. And I like to hike, and it's really difficult to blow up, would have been good to have an air bag come with it to inflate it considering it's so expensive. It is for hammocks so not fair to complain but it's a little thin if your lay on the ground. My intention for it was to use for both a tent pad and cold weather hammock nights but it's size will make it impractical to hike with. I wish I hadn't bought it but I hate going through the process of returning. Seemed good for what it is though so keep in mind if you just want a warm hammock camp without backpacking and have strong healthy lungs it'll be one of the best pads you can get. With I could have seen it in person. I'll have to find a way to inflate it but at least after I'm ...Β MoreI haven't used it, it's just huge. I'm being really critical but these cons aren't that bad. If It has come with a bag to blow it up like my brother's did I would have given it 4 stars maybe 5. You could buy 3 of the base model and stick em together for the price π
I have been sleeping in my hammock at home for the past 2+ years, and this air mattress has been a wonderful addition to the hammock and hammock sleeping bag. I can toss and turn yet I don't end up off the pad. I have also used in in a tent when I camp on the ground, and it fills the tent floor beautifully. I can spread out yet not end up with an arm or leg on the bare ground. Add a pillow for the best sleep!
