Been using these for about a year and a half now as a professional commercial/industrial electrician. They actually work really well. If you work outside, or work in freezers during the summer, they'll rust like anything else, but a bit of oil and some clean up and they're good to go again. The Klein edge is much more abrupt, with a lot more steel behind the actual cutting edge, so it takes more effort to dent them. I actually had another set of Knipex Linesman pliers, without the fish tape puller and crimper, and the cutting edges on those got dented within a couple months from cutting screws and spring steel wire. If you have to cut screws or hard wire, I'd recommend having a beater set of Kleins around to use instead. These do best on copper and aluminum. Is it worth having two sets of Linesman pliers to cut two different things? I think it probably is. The Knipex pliers will cut 12/2 MC like it's not even there when they're in good shape, and the'll make a clean cut on copper range feeds in one shot without issue. The Kleins, not so much. They take more effort to cut just about everything, but they'll cut a wider variety of materials and take less damage while doing it. The cutters in the picture, as pictured, still cut MC just fine, still cut #1 copper just fine, still work just as they should. They just take a bit more effort to cut with. For the record, the cutting edges on these got messed up from cutting BX (steel armored) cable. They still cut it, they just didn't come out of it unscathed. I’m an electrician and swear by Knipex hand tools. I recently had all my hand tools stolen and needed replacements. The pair these replaced were pretty basic and didn’t have the fish tape pulling, crimping or comfort grips — so these are a major upgrade and I couldn’t be happier. These are the Cadillac of lineman’s!!! Lightweight, comfortable, insane grip and that ‘snap’ when cutting wire that you only get with Knipex. I absolutely love them!

These suffer from the same issue all Knipex products suffer from they make good products but it doesn't justify the price. Are the good yeah are they better than Kleins? Depends on who you ask. I would say no. They are very comparable which is meant as a compliment. Are they $20's better than the equivalent Kleins absolutely not.

Bought this right before christmas and they just arrived today, id give these a 5 star since i have the VDE version and they work great but they came rusty out of the box. Theres like rusty colored liquid dripping out of one of the holes. You can see it in the pic. Still recommend the tool cause knipex is amazing but just sucks it came rusty
I have used Klein and ideal pliers ( no experience with greenlee )before using knipex. south wire kobalt(excellent for the price) ..and other brands I do not consider them as professional pliers. I like my pliers with fish tape puller and crimper . Klein is great ideal also except jaws that become flat in about 2 years. (Hard to grab wires). 9 inch knipex feels little light which a lot of people might find big + 9.5 inch knipex feels little heavy like Kleins and is very well balanced . When I got them I turned off tv and stared at them for couple of hours then I placed them on pillow in my bed and slept With them.(not) .but they look great. Very smooth and sharp. I cut number 2 wire today.like butter. I consider them cut above. I use this thing for darn near everything. I don't go light on my Linesman pliers - Originally bought them for the sharp cutters, and the fish tape pulling. They're a lot lighter than the Klein's, and have sharper cutters. After a while the cutters near the inside of the pliers have dulled and parted, and now lets light through. They don't like hammering as much as the kleins do either and have a slight weeble wobble. I still grab for them over the kliens, but my next pair are problably going to be the mirroring Klein's because I've had my other pair for 3 years without the wobble / break in the cutters. I've had these since October last year? 7 months. Knipex makes superb hand tools. This pair of lineman's pliers are a nice size with a great set of features. The handles are comfortable and have the right amount of adhesion to keep them from slipping out of your hands. The crimper works well for most residential electrical applications. The opposing faces have a nice deep etched grid. They easily grip materials and prevent slipping and shifting. The fish tape grip feature is a welcome addition.
I've owned (and own) several pair of linemans pliers that do the job. But, I was so impressed with the quality of some recent Knipex tool purchases, I decided to order these. The first thing I did was test the cutting strength - my grip strength just isn't what is used to be. The design of these "high-leverage" pliers made it outperform everything in my toolbox! I was able to cut very heavy wire - double the size of coat hanger wire. The crimper was equally as impressive. And, shipping from Zoro was amazingly fast!
You probably are looking at this because you have heard of Knipex quality or alreasy have some of their tools. Well, its real. If youre an electrician, you need these. Buttery smooth and great power. Glad I didnt go with the Kleins. I maybe would get the ones with just the fish tape puller and not the crimper but I’ve pulled some stubborn fish tape with these no problem. Just get them. And get the other ones too.
