I absolutely love the transformation from the original Elipsa to the 2E. Reading on the Kobo is the deep learning experience I always hoped for, thanks to the ability to annotate and mark up as I read.

7th kobo reader. We own two first gen elipsa. The new 2e is a major improvement. The addition of the smart light is splendid. Load times are faster. Page turns are FAST. battery life is much better than the elipsa 1 and way better than the sage.Again the addition of the smart light coupled with dark mode is splendid.New notebook folder is great. New pen is much lighter easy to fast recharge and very responsive.Audiobooks play just fine.

The larger screen size makes for great ebook reading. Note taking on the Elissa 2e is great. Integration with Dropbox is a big plus.

While no ereader/writer combo is perfect, the Kobo Ellipsa 2e checked off the most boxes for me. The pluses are that the device can be read at night, so as not to disturb anyone nearby, one can take notes on the etext, and the notes can be downloaded to google. From the earlier devices, Kobo has fixed the cover blocking the power button, the battery life is improved, and the pen does not need the AAAA batteries. The cover opens horizontally, so it can't be propped up on a table like the original Elipsa and the pen has to be charged through a cable.
In my opinion, Kobo has made the perfect reader. I use the Elipsa 2E exclusively for reading and I love it. The perfect size, the even warm lighting, the light weight of the device when paired with the cover and the clarity/responsiveness of the screen - all adds up to this being my favorite ereader and a forever Kobo customer.
