The game can be slow and gradual and somewhat extremely challenging. While at the same time being not very difficult if you use certain weapons and strategys and play with a team of friends regularly for all the high rank missions. Sadly im a loner so the game became rather challenging. The graphics are great! the maps are fantastic though few in number. But the western release of this game is atrocious! theres no instructions or explanations and its all guess work on your part. The quests and missions dont say what you could receive before heading out clearly. Or what you need to make things specifically to plan ahead. You have to go to wiki quest guide sites and view what the rewards for each mission are and select what you want from list of all equipment on ... MoreThe game can be slow and gradual and somewhat extremely challenging. Its disgusting. anything japanese on steam is completely gutted. "lets not translate any explanations or instructions and just rip a console game and make it run on PC and sell it". Least its got actual monsters in it. If i tried to purchase an R18 adult hentai game on steam it would be 80% shorter playthrough to completion missing majority of the CG art and galleries and heaps of story and often entire cast/characters and often completely lacks any adult content at all! but you can buy the witcher 3 and a bunch of other fake nvidia titles which are true R18 titles on steam they all the naked action and monsters and violence and stuff. but go to fight a dinosaur oh no! we have to censor and delete most of the game content and information but its cool you can spend hours googling it all.

Here’s my 3-hour review:Gameplay is not intuitive, it’s as clumsy to play as the combat is with the 8-foot metal axe. Players are forced to watch unskippable story cut scenes, but are thrown in the deep end in terms of how combat, crafting and resources work. It’s a multiplayer game, but tries as hard as possible not to be. Incredibly clunky setting up multiplayer games, but maybe this works better on console versions. Would not recommend the game if you’re looking at party playing. On the other hand, it looks pretty, I like the cats and I’ll keep at it for a few hours more

Gorgeous environments. Combat feels natural and thrilling. My favorite thing about this game is that you can mount monsters to deal devastating damage. It’s a blast whether you play alone or with friends. Monster Hunter World is a masterpiece, period. Worth the money and the expansions. Love love love this game.

Honestly, I tried so hard to like this game, but a good few hours into it, and I find it so incredibly boring. Animations are so clunky, combat is not anywhere near as fun as I had hoped, and the graphics just feel terrible to me for a game that's only a few years old (maxed out settings with high res textures pack). I had read so many raving reviews for years for this game, and finally got it at the price I wanted it, and only to end up despising the game entirely. I will try to soak a bit more time into it just in case it gets better, but it honestly doesn't feel like it will. Also, I know Capcom is infamous for their cheesy voice acting and writing, but I didn't realize just how bad that would still be. Lastly, the plot of the game is hardly anything worth to ... MoreHonestly, I tried so hard to like this game, but a good few hours into it, and I find it so incredibly boring. Was not expecting to buy this game but after seeing that it was receiving excellent reviews, I decided to try it out and boy is it a lot of fun. At first I was quite confused as there is a lot of info thrown at the player and many things to learn as well which the game does not tell you about. Some of the early game content, I was still confused by. I tried understanding by reading the tutorial which in some cases didn't go into too much depth and found it not very effective and leaving me to look up Youtube videos so it took me a while to fully get into it. There is A LOT of info and reading which may turn some players away. Getting over that, as I said the game is very enjoyable and has so much content in it. The story here is pretty boring and bland. There is A LOT of info and reading which may turn some players away. Getting over that, as I said the game is very enjoyable and has so much content in it. The story here is pretty boring and bland. This is not a game where you buy it for the story and players will slowly begin to realize that. It's not the main selling point of the game. You can choose a weapon from a selection of 14 different types which are all unique in style and combat allowing the player to find their most preferred weapon. There is a large variety of monsters as well to hunt. Killing or capturing them gives you specific items from that monster such as scales, hides, pelts and claws etc allowing you to craft armour and weapons of that monster. There is so much to do here. Large amounts of quests to do, arena quests, investigations, discovering new monsters and so on. You can join or create your own guilds with friends. There is a lot more content that I haven't even mentioned. Playing online Co-op with players makes the experience even more fun.Ultimately as I've clearly stated, this game is excellent and is already a GOTY contender. One of my biggest gripes in gaming are micro-transctions and unfortunately there are some. They are included in things such as stickers, gestures and costumes/armours. However, they do not affect gameplay at all so you can earn all your weapons and gear in the game itself. There's little here to rant about here. At least there are no random cash grabbing loot boxes which I find in many other video games.
I am new to Capcom’s Monster Hunter universe, but glad that my friend prodded and convinced me to purchase this game. I had watched some preview videos on IGN, Gamespot, etc. and the hype for this is well warranted. Upon first loading up the game, I was impressed by the level of detail in character customization, which is just a small preview of the how comprehensive the character, weapons, armor, etc. customization is. Graphics and overall presentation are splendid as designed with the Havok game engine. The environments are life like and add to the gameplay mechanics as hiding, running, and scavaging the terrain greatly impact success and failure as you venture out. The story is nothing noteworthy, but the adventures are nuances and scaled for a variety of gameplay difficulty. Oh yeah, the monsters are diverse and unique with some exceptional battles as well as some that are a bit lackluster. This game does have its areas for improvement. Namely it feels buggy and unnecessarily complex setting up quests and general multiplayer game modes with people already in your party. I will pin this on Capcom for not making the ability to play with friends more accessible and user friendly. For a game that touts co-op play, I would call one of its largest selling points to be in drastic need of repair. Overall, this is an addictive game you can play solo but is epic when accompanied by friends or partners— when it connects properly and you have finished watching non-skip cutscenes. This one gets my vote for best game of the early 2018 year. Now fix co-op!!!
MHW has been garnering a lot of praise, and rightfully so. It's fun, it's huge, plenty to do, and many reviews have mentioned its friendliness to newcomers. As a newcomer myself, that last bit was important to me, and if you're new to the series, this is a great time to begin your monster hunting... with a caveat. One needs to be fully aware of a couple of things before taking the dive.1) it may be friendly to newcomers, but it IS an in-depth game that has a simple premise, but requires a lot of experimenting and learning from mistakes. Friendly it is, but forgiving it is not.2) this is not a game to pop in for short bursts. It requires time when you load it up. Friendly it is, but forgiving it is not.2) this is not a game to pop in for short bursts. It requires time when you load it up. Hunts can eat up 45 minutes, only for bad luck (close to a kill when a roaming monster stronger than the one you're hunting suddenly stumbles upon your epic battle,) to intrude and you need to begin anew.If you enjoy "Souls" style games, MHW will be somewhat reminiscent. You'll learn from mistakes in battle or realize you chose to carry the wrong weapon for this hunt, OR realize after several attempts that you need to level your gear some and have to halt the hunt altogether while you take on sidequests to earn gear upgrade points.MHW may feature a lot of action roleplaying fundamentals, but beneath it all is a tight tactical simulation that requires you to memorize your prey's attacks and when they'll use them, what PART of the body is weakest on them, and to save it all to memory so that if you fall, you'll return to the hunt a better hunter. The creatures and gameworld are gorgeous- one of the few games I wish I had a PS4Pro and HDR to see it even further in depth. But, the beauty goes beyond graphics. There's a level of immersion involved thanks to not just seeing creatures of different types interact in the wild as you explore, but even to the loot system.Looting makes sense, in a BIG way. You can, on many creatures even cut off their tail. But, if you need a creature's tooth for an upgrade, attacking it's head to "loosen" it up will increase your odds.Fighting a creature that breathes fire? Find a creature with natural fire immunity and hunt them until you have the materials you need. Fighting a venomous creature? Odds are those poison arrows are worth about as much as a regular arrow. Fighting a creature who can fly? Attack its wings to prevent it from taking flight. And much of this common sense approach helps offset the MANY things that MHW WON'T be newcomer-friendly about. If you don't enjoy discovering things that many games consider necessities to teach you, then despite the reviews, it may not be for you... Unless you're willing to search the internet for.If you have patience, if you're looking for a game and world that will keep you sucked in for untold hours, then you owe it to yourself to take those first steps into Monster Hunter World.
The Monster Hunter series has been around since about 2004 or round about that point, it's always been known for being a tough series of games that has gained a niche following although many of the games have either been released on handhelds like the PSP and the Nintendo DS as well as Nintendo systems like the Wii, Wii U and the Switch.Sometimes but rarely on other systems and all too often usually just released in Japan, sometimes in the US and once in a while in Europe.Monster Hunter: World is pretty much the first title in the series in a long time to not only come out on a worldwide release instead of being a year or two apart from the Japanese release, but also to come out on the console in a while outside of Nintendo systems.Which is a rarity in ... MoreThe Monster Hunter series has been around since about 2004 or round about that point, it's always been known for being a tough series of games that has gained a niche following although many of the games have either been released on handhelds like the PSP and the Nintendo DS as well as Nintendo systems like the Wii, Wii U and the Switch.Sometimes but rarely on other systems and all too often usually just released in Japan, sometimes in the US and once in a while in Europe.Monster Hunter: World is pretty much the first title in the series in a long time to not only come out on a worldwide release instead of being a year or two apart from the Japanese release, but also to come out on the console in a while outside of Nintendo systems.Which is a rarity in itself. With the series having been only really bought by a niche following then it never really got the larger attention that it could have done with due to it's complexity, challenge and unforgiving nature in testing the player and throwing them headfirst into one tough fight after another. This has been a turn off for many who have been interested in the series but never able to get into it.This time round however, Monster Hunter: World is designed to appeal to both newcomers and veterans of the series alike by trimming down as much of the complexities as possible while maintaining the core game play. It's still a tough game but for a change you do get to actually learn and take your time with learning how to play the game, how to prepare for hunts and how to gradually get better at the game. The story is as such: The Research Commission has been curious as to why the Elder Dragons keep returning to a land they have dubbed as The New Land every ten years, so as part of an expedition and hunting fleet you are one of many hunters who's job is to assist with the research of this mystery and to hunt down the creatures of the New Land. You can create your character - male and female choices - you get a decent amount of options to play with although it's not exactly Dragon's Dogma or Saint's Row in regards of the options but what you get is pretty good. You also get to create your Palico companion, Palico's are basically cats that talk and walk on their hind legs, they can also cook and assist in a fight as well as other tasks. Your Palico companion can heal you in battle and help in a fight although they aren't all that strong. It would take me a while to go over the mechanics of the game, it is better off being learned than explained to be honest and there are videos online which offer beginner tips as well as game play so you can get a basic idea of what to expect. The game play is pretty rich, it can be a grind to acquire resources and hunt creatures but many games are a grind to be perfectly honest and it all comes down to how much time you are willing to give to the game. The game does have multi player where you can call on other players to assist you, the match making is a little on the fussy side though and likely will continue to be patched to improve it's helpfulness. You can also team up with others and play the entire game with other players if you want or you can play solo, it's a tough game regardless of your approach and you will have to be patient while playing it, it isn't wise to rush in weapon swinging since that can get you killed fast. You have to be cunning, you have to watch the tells for attacks and be able to react accordingly. The game world isn't fully open world, it's more a series of areas that are all different from one another with many different creature types. It's worth getting as long as you are willing to be patient, to take your time and learn. This isn't a game that you'll finish quickly, it will last you a good while. Recommended, but expect to get quite the challenge.
