I was very impressed by this film. The blues, greens and oranges are really beautiful and the greens especially have a very specific jade tinge that is very distinctive. It's a very sharp film and the grain is extremely fine and even. It is slow, so use of a tripod is definitely beneficial for landscape shots, but I was able to get good sharp handheld shots in bright winter sunshine. It renders people well, though I feel it makes the red in skin look a little strong, like everyone's a bit hot or been drinking... Anyway, highly recommended, and pay for the premium jpegs, as the resolution of this film deserves them (and it costs a lot in the first place!!). Is it better than 2 rolls of ColorPlus? This film maybe was the "wrong place, wrong time" to me. I enjoyed taking the photos but I was surprised at the moment the film was developed. It was the 3rd film I had used and the 1st time I had "problems" with film rolls. Until today I don't know what happened but the first 4 photos were expired (maybe?) and the rest of the film were fine. I did a terrible job taking the photos under bad condition as well so it wasn't the best film used (because of me). But time given, I began to appreciate the expired photos and also learned from them.Definitely a film to use in daylight, proper daylight, otherwise you are risking ISO, or speed, and the film won't forgive you.

Ektar 100 is a classic at this point. Everyone and their mom has used it at least once, and most people have likewise fallen in love with it. Kodak claims its the finest grained 100 iso color negative film. Of course, it's much more of an advertising mechanism than a selling point. E6 slide film is sharper, has more dynamic range, less grain, and all that good stuff; but the colors are ridiculous.I shoot Ektar for the way it transforms my photos. It screams film photography, but still comes out professional and presentable unlike some grainier, older, and cheaper color negative films. Obviously, that all depends on what you're doing. Don't shoot this at night, you'd be asking for trouble.I've had some pretty good results pushing this film up to two steps. The colors are a bit less depp and you lose some contrast and dynamic range (as well as introduce some noise) but thats all expected. If you're in a stitch and need an extra stop of light or two, shooting this at 400 is still absolutely usable (just note it for when you send it in, or add a couple of seconds in your dev bath if you're doing it at home).All in all, its a great film, you wouldnt go wrong getting yourself a couple rolls. Its my go to for sure.

How you rate this film will ultimately come down to personal preference but if you are looking for somewhere to start, I have had results that I am happy with by rating at ISO 80 and metering for the shadows.Cons:1. That being said, I enjoy shooting this film and there is always a roll or two in my bag. Give it a go!
Ektar is becoming my go to film because of family members who do not "get" the film look and are brainwashed into digital is the best. However, they get easily fooled that Ektar is digital, at least until I flinch and then they look again and realize it was film. So if you are like me and have brainwashed digital family members, shoot ektar. Or if not Ektar, one of the Cinestill line which is Vision 3 and uses the same technology as Ektar.

Having spent the last 20yrs shooting only digital I thought it was time to dabble again in film. Whilst I originally intended to shoot only B&W it didn’t take long for me to be tempted to shoot some colour. Whilst this film is comparatively expensive the results are extraordinary. The film is very sharp and the colour reproduction is superb. It is highly accurate whilst maintaining the film look we all crave. I really need to get around to shooting other colour film bit it’s hard to turn away from the Ektar.
I took Ektar 35mm on holiday to the Costa Del Sol with my Canon 3000N and wanted to film colourful scenes on the beach. I am really pleased with the results, the vibrancy of the colour rendition was excellent and the general resolution very good. I shot in aperture priority and I think some were slightly over exposed but that did give rich colours. The phone shots for comparison insipid and had a manufactured look about them, hard to describe. My phone is an expensive one so the camera is quite good on occasions especially B/W but even then Ilford Ortho 80 is very difficult to improve on.
I was recommended this by a friend. Used I mainly for outdoor landscapes, and the colors are really nice. Used it for a few portrait shots...the skin tones are OK, but a bit harsh compared to E100 Ektachrome. The saturation is pretty much what I expected, and appreciated -- similar to Fuji Velvia.
