For a camera with no focus controls and no ability to control exposure beyond turning the flash on or changing film, this really does give a lot of bang for the buck.The Highland cattle photos were shot on Rollei 400s and the other two were Ilford HP5. There is a considerable drop off in sharpness which is especially noticeable when shooting landscape. It's less of a problem shooting portrait.With flash it's fine for low light subjects out to about 6-10 feet. In daylight you can shoot a wider variety of subjects. I was surprised by how much you could get away with. In overcast or dusk conditions, underexposure was a problem if not using flash. In one case (full blazing sun) I got some overexposure at using the Rollei 400s.

The Ektar H35 is quite honestly a breezy time. You load the roll, pop the battery in and set sail. Remember, the aperture is high and the film speed MATTERS. All my first roll was shot using Kodak Gold 200, but I would recommend a hearty 400 to 800 to maximise your light intake.Some minor inconveniences: level photographs seemingly take slightly wonky, and watch out for sun glares!Overall, such a fun experience. The camera is beautiful and nobody minds being the subject of a photograph when you're holding a near-credit-card sized point-and-shoot!4/5 from me. Have so much fun!

Also I used Kodak colorplus 200 film and as you can see some of the pics were overexposed/ underexposed ( very sunny day in the beach) but not much you can do to prevent this. You need to shoot with your camera horizontal. Overall it's a nice surprise to see how the pictures are together and in a very nice composition.

The shutter likewise feels as solid as an all-plastic camera could afford.There are some weird quirks, however. The film door opens from the wrong side (fortunately there's a sliding latch to remind you where it opens), and you load the film on the right with the spindle on the left. The rewind knob doesn't look like it wants to be pulled out at first, but it does. Then it kind of hangs there while you load the film, and you have to give it an extra push to make it flush with the bottom of the camera once the film is loaded. Again, it all feels really sketch, and yet it works just fine.One of my initial problems was trying to figure out how far to wind the film to get to the first frame. I had not noticed the tiny frame counter window on top until I was about 4 shots in, so those first few probably won't turn out. And although you can definitely make out a counter in the window (which acts as a tiny plastic magnifying glass), the 72-shot capacity and the tiny counter wheel only leave enough room to count by 4s, which means that if you want to create diptychs it's fairly impossible to consistently know which half of the full frame you're shooting.I haven't yet completed shooting my first roll (I mean, 72 frames, it takes a while, you know), so I don't know how they'll turn out, but I have high hopes: a few Google searches revealed that the (plastic) lens has an aperture of f/9.6, and the shutter speed is fixed at 1/100s, so it's easy to use Sunny 16 to determine the right exposure. (If you load 100 ISO film, you'll get decent exposure with light cloud cover or brighter, assuming your film has a bit of exposure latitude). In my case, I loaded some Ilford HP5 Plus (400 ISO), which meant the overcast weather I encountered on my first day wouldn't pose a problem. Once I get the roll developed I'll revisit this review and post a few pictures.Overall I'm pretty happy with this camera. It's never going to replace a real film camera (like my Pentax Spotmatic F, or even my zone-focus Olympus Trip 35), but it's a nice thing to slip in your back pocket for taking pictures on a walk, or to try out some experimental film. However, I wouldn't load Portra 400 in it unless you just like to throw money away.
I bought this camera to photograph my mini adventures. The half-frame images double the volume of pictures I can take per roll of film. I used the camera to take photos on a farm and they turned out great. My only issue is the window that tells you what frame you are on is very difficult to see through. Light has to enter the viewing window just right to see a number. The camera fits in my pocket well and comes with a little pouch to protect it.
Love this camera. If you expect medium frame detail it’s probably going to leave you wanting more. It’s a simple point and shoot. F9.5 @ 1/100th does what you need it to. The coolest part is you get double the exposures of any roll you load up. Easy to toss into a backpack or a pocket. Simple enough to hand to anyone. I will say when you’re shooting make sure you’re pressing the shutter button slowly to reduce any kind of shake. It’s a light camera (made of plastic) but it’s something that won’t break the bank and will capture some fun moments.
i was waiting to get my film developed before writing my review for this one.. wow i am so happy with the results. i did most of my shots in diptychs but managed to get them misaligned since the indicator wasn’t super clear, but it was pretty easy to edit the right images together!v easy to use & fun to shoot with, i took it on holiday with me instead of my usual film camera, which is a big canon eos 300 so it was nice to have a change with how light & compact this one is.overall v good experience.images here were shot on kodak ultramax 400 for reference!could only upload five but there are more on my instagram @jaslevell if you’re interested :))
I was looking for something to help me dip my toes into film photography. I bought this camera completely on a whim — and Moment sent it promptly, much to my delight. The quality of the camera is sufficient to meet my expectations; it’s a plastic, lightweight, affordable, half-frame camera. It’s reminiscent of disposable cameras, with the benefit of being reusable (and pretty cute). My only concern is that the rewinding knob feels somewhat flimsy… but as of yet, it hasn’t fallen apart, so I’m staying optimistic. It’s definitely going to make me a good companion as I first explore the fun of film photography!

It looked lovely though with a classic vintage Kodak look.The carry bag and strap were welcome accessories. Very easy to load and use, a simple no frills point and shoot. I used it with Kodak Gold 200. My first set of scans were pleasingly good. Not the sharpest images I've ever had but then that's not what I was expecting, with some softening towards the edges. Getting 48 shots from my roll of 24 film makes it great value. One thing worth noting is the flash would sometimes still fire even after being switched back to the off position! Overall it was a fun camera to use and one that can be put in a pocket or bag and ... This little Kodak 1/2 frame camera has been fun to use. I wasn't sure if I'd loaded the film right or not, the counter didn't move at all until after I'd taken several shots, then all of a sudden it read I'd taken 8. I deliberately shot the roll for dyptichs, though somehow the pairs are all over the place on development but it was fun to get them back together again in post. I shot on kodak gold 400, 36 frames i.e should have produced 72 images but I got 78 as it kept winding on when I thought I'd finished having mentally counted off 72. The camera has no settings apart from flash on/off, so it is literally point and shoot. The results are better than I expected and AW has done their magic in development as usual. Will be keeping this loaded and ready for action!
