This is a suitable scanner for slides. However, inserting the slides is tricky and they move around quite a bit. A redesign on that part of the equipment would be welcome. It's not the best scanner—the images have to be tweaked on my Mac. But for my purposes it's fine.

My primary complaint with the scanner is the SD card, or lack of one. This is my 2nd Slide n Scan - the first got taken out by a lightning strike. They're real easy to use and for my purpose of getting massive amounts of slide scan, it's hard to beat for the price. I can process slide pretty quickly now compared to an older scanner I had been using. Just push them into the holder, push the button and add another slide... the first one pops out the other side. Easy Peasy... It also can scan film strips of color negative or black and white.

Does the job - sort of. They do not tell you lose almost 20% of your slide - top and bottom get cropped. relatively easy to use. Construction is rather flimsy. It does get them digitized to a SD card. You will need another step to read the card and xfer to a memory stick. Know your application and objective(s) BEFORE deciding
Look, the Kodak Slide N Scan is absolutely easy to use and you can digitize 140 slides in an hour. As to Color & Resolution it can vary from Great to Good. That said, it's easier to fine tune the digitized slides on your computer. I highly recommend this item for what it is. The Price is Right and it it's Extremely Easy to Use. With regards to Resolution & Color that depends on the state of the slides. Are the slides encased in paper or plastic and what is the thickness of the encasing medium? All of these variables affect these two parameters. I'm sure there are better digitizing devices that are 3-4 x as expensive and very complicated to use. I had over 5000 slides to do. Time is important to me.
It's not pro grade, but it works well for keeping those old slides your Mom took digitized and easily sharable. I wish the slide holders were of better quality, they are kind of flimsy. The color accuracy is quite good and you can make some adjustments to color profiles with the machine. My Dad left us 4000 slides. My brother and I are going to digitize the best ones. He got an estimate from a photo service that was $8000. I've got time to do it myself and save $7900. Also the screen is very good.
Sometimes older technology becomes obsolete, but this still does the job. I did run into a problem when my computer wouldn't recognize the unit, but using a more recent (I presume) USB cable overcame that difficulty. It's a little awkward to have to save scans on a SIM and then transfer to my hard drive as a separate step, but that's quibbling, I suppose.
I purchased this scanner to copy all of the slides that my parents had taken over the years. It is simple to set up and use and with the preview screen you are able to adjust color and brightness prior to saving to the SD card. I will be trying it out on negatives to digitally archive them. The two draw backs are the SD card, would like to save it directly to the computer, and the color/brightness adjustments, would like a more sensitive control to fine tune the image. All and all it is a product I would recommend.
I have many slides I am going through, and the Slide N Scan is quite good. There's no focus adjustment, but it isn't really needed. The slides just slide and there's no "click" when the slide is in position to be scanned, that's my only suggestion for an improvement. The colors are very vivid and you can adjust the color and brightness. I had a slide scanner back 10+ years ago and compared them and the Slide N Scan is night and day better, see the before and after slides. Transferring the files over is also very easy. I highly recommend it.

The transport adapters (slides, film size) are a bit flimsy and plastic. Old deformed slides can get stuck, but most do fine. The adapters could have been steel parts in my opinion for a good improvement. Since it is only USB powered, it would have been better to be able to view the scanning on my PC via USB as opposed to the small built-in monitor or a 2nd HDMI monitor (I only have one by my laptop, used of course by my laptop).
