Budget price for a decent quality TV

Wasn't expecting much for $400, but very pleasantly surprised. My Sony 50" packed up on Xmas Eve, ordered this as couldn't justify spending $1000 again especially due to the time of year! Was dispatched a couple of days after Boxing Day and arrived the next day.Had it up and running in 30 minutes, connected to a Fetch Mighty (4K mode) the picture quality is excellent, and the audio is decent enough for most things (when watching movies I use headphones so I don't get complaints from the rest of the house), if I needed better sound quality I'd probably pair it with a soundbar. My only complaint, and this is being very picky, is that the volume control doesn't show a numeric value for the level, but with the Google Assistant I can always set it to a percentage ... MoreWasn't expecting much for $400, but very pleasantly surprised. My Sony 50" packed up on Xmas Eve, ordered this as couldn't justify spending $1000 again especially due to the time of year! I'm sure with a firmware update from Kogan this could easily be corrected (hint, hint 😊)

Dissappointing Image Quality due to Unusual Subpixel Layout

Planned to use this TV as a reference in the studio and sadly it doesn't have a normal pixel layout. Previous Kogan 50" TVs have had a normal BGR layout which is pretty great, but this has a subtractive RGBW layout which makes solid colours look grainy if you are sitting close to the display. Unfortunately a result I can't really use it! Chroma subsampling is fine (get the 4:4:4 layout) but the image quality due to the pixel layout makes it subpar. At least it has an audio jack though. Sound quality from the speakers is not too bad either.

Excellent quality for the price
24 January 2023

Really nice quality picture. Has four hdmi inputs (not one as stated on Kogan listing). Sound through optical digital audio out to sound bar has been awesome (but I do need to use the soundbar remote, tv remote doesn’t control it). It has an audio output for headphones but I have not figured out how to make that work. Would be better if there was support for Bluetooth headphones, I need to switch on my otherwise redundant FireTV for that, but they do disclose this in the listing. Overall very happy with the product for the price, a definite step forward from my old TV for viewing experience.

Good Budget TV

Happy with the TV and it performs as expected. Operating system and processor much faster than the previous 32" Hisense smart TV I was using.Sound Quality is not amazing but that is to be expected, in our relatively small lounge room it is fine, just not a lot of bass to the sound.Picture Quality perfectly adequate, maybe not as crisp as a high end name brand but more than satisfactory for the price point.

Good for the price.. but..

This is a Good TV for the price, owned it for nearly a year.It does have its issues. The os is extremely laggy.the controller and the on unit buttons will stop working and crash. The internet will always drop out when none of my other devices do..In saying that the picture quality is good and the sound is more than passable for the price point. As a first TV or a TV for your kids this is a good buy, but as a main TV for your living room I'd give it a miss.

Great value for money

I am not tech-savvy, so I began with Kogan's online explanation of terms used in today's TVs. I was really impressed with these explanations; they were clearly explained and answered all my questions. From there, I looked at what brands, screen sizes and types Kogan had on offer and settled on the 50" 4K UHD HDR LED Smart Android TV ; but then I went to the reviews of this model and was somewhat concerned about some negative comments on picture and sound quality. I had previously bought a smaller TV/DVD combo from Kogan, which also had some negative comments, but I had no problem with it, so I ordered this 50" TV. It arrived after only two days, took only 20 mins to set up from the Quick Start Guide, and another 20 mins to tune in the TV. I do, however, think the full user manual in printed form should be supplied with the other items, instead of having to print it off from the internet.

Kogan 50" 4K UHD HDR LED Smart TV Android TV™ (Series 9, RU9220)

Product came in a very well pack double boxed and delivery was quick. TV is good and price is right. Better than the Sony bravia I had , more functions, bigger, lighter and cheaper very much cheaper. 2 minor issues with it that I can live with, Number 1 is picture not clear from 45 degree angle but I dont watch tv from the side so Im ok with it.2, The TV has a dead pixel about 15cm from the right, but when watching motion picture you cant see it only when start up or change screen, Im ok with that too. Unless I start getting more dead pixel with in the 1 year. Overall, I am happy with this TV nice quick cheap replacement for the sony. And you dont need a sound bar, unlike the Sonic and TCL ( the sonic in my study need to turn the volume up to almost 50)

Terrible picture quality. Poor product
7 February 2022

Perhaps my tv is faulty or I got a major dud. This was purchased to replace my 6yr old generic JB HiFi tv, and I’ve already packed the new Kogan one back in the box on day 1. It’s terrible!! It’s over sharp to the point of painful to look at, and in the same picture it’s blurry in a way to look at. I have reached out to Kogan to organise a refund asap. This product did not live up to the Kogan name or quality expectation even for that price. Didn’t connect to my wifi, have to constantly try and readjust your eyes to watch the screen. Hoping Kogan delivers on the customer service end and promptly organises the return and refund as this tv has failed. I will not be accepting a replacement or a credit to go through this experience again

great Monitor, ok tv
18 July 2022

This size and resolution for the price is hard to beat. streaming apps function ok does have glitches and loading issues on occasions but a reboot fixes it. can not tell you about tuner as frankly who uses them any more. manufactures should scrap the tuner and save a few bucks. screen is great size can run 4 windows on it in small resolution so equivalent to 4 monitors and bonus is it runs on 1 HDMI. I now have 4 this size in my study running off 1 pc. very cheap video wall...
