I have 2 - 85lb German Shepherds that love squeaker toys. This football is great. Since the ball is the squeaker, they aren't trying to destroy it to get to the squeak. Since they play with it so much, it doesn't last forever but is outlasts almost every other toy they have. The only downside is that the squeak can get irritating because they won't stop playing with it. But, then, dog toys are to be played with and any toy that can stand up to constant chewing and not fall apart is a keeper.Previously, we had the medium football and it worked well. This time we purchased the large which is huge. No problem for German Shepherds, though. They run around with it and squeak it constantly. Seem to enjoy it even more than the medium.

My StaffieLab (& all if her mostly lab amigos at the dog park) loved this ... until she misplaced it!Great for humans because it can be thrown or kicked and has a good footie bounce. And due to its size, its more easily retrievable from the dog's mouth than a smaller round ball.Not sure how long the green cover works have lasted - ours got lost before Luna's let's-peel-the-cover-off experiment was finished. Anyway, it looks like good solid black rubber underneath the green felt-look cover.We're off to buy another one.The squeak is not really annoying either - really only activated if the dog squeezes really hard.

I purchased this medium-sized football because my 70 lb., 7-month old Golden loves the Kong tennis ball. He squeaked that ball until the squeaker sound started to give. I assumed that the football would have a similar manufacture as the tennis ball, however, as other reviewers have expressed, this is essentially a purple rubber/plastic ball with a yellow felt-like skin stretched around it. The first picture shows the ball after less than 10 minutes of play. In the second picture, we see around the Kong logo that the "velvet" is not glued down to the ball in any way. That said, my pup loves chewing and squeaking this ball, so I will likely just rip off the velvet parts as they loosen.
