Works perfectly straight out of the box - once drivers are automatically found and installed - and even comes with free plugins you can download.Keys have a great substantial feel to them and are very comfortable to use. It's easy to input keys without worrying about pressing the wrong ones accidentally.I mainly use this keyboard for creating sheet music in Sibelius, where it makes inputting notes an absolute breeze. The extra octaves available are invaluable for this purpose.The keyboard also comes with a couple of USB ports on the side which are great for plugging in flash drives - though USB connections requiring power such as iPod cables don't work. I've really enjoyed this keyboard so far. The octave range indicators light up from green to red so you know if you'll go out of range. Like stated in the summary the keys have a great feel to them. Much nicer than my old MAudio Keystation. The keys are pretty similar to the microKORG. The width of the keys is the same but the keys feel a bit less 'mushy' and aren't as glossy so they have a bit more grip. The black keys are mat and are a bit grippier than the whites. The mod and pitch wheels feel great and are slightly larger than the microKORG's. Great playing feel for me but if you have large hands than it may not be as comfortable.
I bought the Korg microKey37 to use with my Ipad 2 running Garageband. I hooked everything up utilizing a powered USB hub EXACTLY as instructed. Keyboard does not receive power. The microKey 37 is heavily advertised as being an excellent companion to the Ipad but in truth is incompatible with it. The tech at Korg seemed totally mystified but didn't have a clue about anything.....pretty much an arrogant ignoramus. I would not recommend the microKey37 to anyone wishing to employ it in conjunction with the Ipad 2 or 3. It will not work and you will receive zero technical help from Korg other than " Well, it OUGHT to work!".
This is great to have for any producer both beginner and pro. It's compact, has a great feel to it and comes with some great VST Plug-ins that you can download off the Korg website for no added cost. Even for my big hands, I am still able to enjoy playing and recording on it.
iLove my little KORG, it's very helpful as well. Very little delay, a wonderful controller.
