The Evolution series is Kryptonite's second best level of security (the New York/yellow series is top), and the best locks they sell per weight. If you need a decent lock, and can't carry something really heavy, this is a great option. They make a larger version as well.Understand every single lock can be defeated, given enough time, or skill and tools by a thief. But having an above average lock, and this certainly is one, increases your chances of your bike not being stolen. I recommend you use this lock (or the non-Mini version, or a NY Standard which is heavy) to lock the rear wheel and triangle to a bike rack. Then, if you need extra security, lock the front wheel with a second lock to the frame, or with a cable to the bike rack as well.

I’ve used this lock for nearly two years, and it’s perfect if you know your needs. Using the Sheldon Brown method of locking the rear wheel to the stationary object with the lock positioned within the frame’s rear triangle, the bike is completely secured and I’ve been able to lock to every bike rack I’ve come across. Not the best with electric bike as impedes the battery, but that's a minor irritation.Good solid lock which I use with a cable to allow wheels and frame to be secured.Halfords employee said to go for this because of the insurance cover it gives you, but you have to pay a subscription for that, so read the small print and don't assume the shop knows best.Seems well made, bike not stolen yet, so guess it works.A lot of money for what it is - suspect there is better value products out there.

When I got a new e-bike, I had to upgrade my lock, and the Kryptonite Evolution Mini was just exactly what I needed. I’m on campus and downtown frequently, so I need a lock that I can trust. I love that this lock has both a U-bolt and a cable, so I can lock the frame to the bike rack and lock the back wheel and helmet with the cable. And it’s small enough not to take up too much room in my pannier. (I didn’t bother with the frame mount). And Kryptonite is so confident about the quality of the lock, they offer a very inexpensive insurance policy on the bike.
I used this lock for about 5 months, until one day it refused to unlock. It has always been problematic, and I tried lubricating the lock mechanism with a couple drops of light oil, but it's always felt imprecise and crunchy turning the key. Maybe that's what makes it more pick proof? It was always difficult to unlock with the key, I imagine it's even harder to pick. After nearly having it refuse to unlock, I decided I can't risk using this lock any more. Returned it and bought the Abus 640 lock, which feels super precise turning the key, and has a nice detent feel. Abus 640 was the next lightest U lock I could find, but still weighs 116 grams more than the mini-6. The lock is super secure and strong. The accessory cable is heavy and strong with plenty of length. The lock comes with 3 key duplicates. One key has a small blue flashlight built-in. The lock is easy to lock and unlock. And the lock is easy to attach to the included bike mount. And the bike mount is very easy to install onto the bike. I installed the mount in 3 different locations on the bike before I decided on the best position. All the components together weigh 3.5 pounds. Note: The bike mount only holds the lock. The accessory cable must be stored somewhere else on you or on your bike during a ride. I watched a youtube video (as recommended on the packaging) to get familiar with this lock and therefore I didn’t even need to read the instruction booklet.
