Ramblr model, for a shorter pair. These seem to be made of the same durable and quick-drying soft cotton blend fabric that wears beautifully with age; they are as
comfortable, have a gusseted crotch and 8 pockets. I purchased them in gunmetal, a somewhat darker color than that displayed on the web page. Will purchase a second

First of all great service and the Grosse Pointe MJ for ordering these for me right from the store. These are awesome lightweight shorts, move with you and are fast drying.
Plenty of pockets with closures for all your gear. Two point closure in the front ( like dress pants) keeps them secure. I am a pretty solid 37 inch waste so I opted for the 38's,
because these have some give to them I probably could have gone with the 36. The only gig I have with these is the velcro on the rear pockets, it is constantly snagging my
performance shirts and is a pain getting a wallet in and out, a button or flap would have been more ideal. I also like the 10 inch inseam, great for guys with not so long legs.... Show more

I decided to try the Ramblr model, for a shorter pair. Great shorts but sizes not consistent

I have a pair of Kuhl Renegade shorts that I like a lot and wanted the Ramblr for the different fabric (higher cotton content). The Renegade shorts are size 30 waist and fit perfectly, so I ordered the Ramblr in 30 also. Unfortunately they are way too tight in both the waist and the legs. I've read a couple of other reviews that mentioned lack of size consistency in Kuhl shorts and now I know it's true. I'm afraid a 32 will be too big so I'll have to return these and wait until I can find a store where I can try some on for size. So, the quality and style are great but getting the right size may be a challenge if ordering without trying on first.... Show more

I like these enough that I went to buy some more.Stop reading there if you just want the "bottom line".So, unfortunately, I originally bought these on vacation at a US National Park based store -- i.e. not an REI, it was a sort-of "emergency" purchase. :-)But after removing the store tags, there is no precise way to identify the style -- so the next ones I bought (at REI) turned out a little longer in the seam by mistake. Kuhl makes a number of rather similar styles. Perhaps Kuhl should stitch in a product ID of some kind to help happy customers ease re-purchasing, no?My second nit-pick with these (also true of almost every pair of shorts that I buy) is that the front-most two belt loops are a little too far apart. Ideally they'd be a bit closer together, to ... I had 2 pairs of Kuhl Radikl shorts which I wore continuously until they were threadbare (took at least 2 years of near-daily wear). Whole Earth didn't have any Radikls available online this spring, so I took a chance on the Ramblrs. I like them even better, they're just as comfortable, have at least as many useful pockets, and they look better because the leg openings are not so wide. Grab you a pair or 2!... Show more

Perfect cell phone pocket

These shorts have the perfect side pocket for a cell phone. I would give them a 5 star, but the waist size fluctuates a bit between the different manufacturers. I have had about 10 pairs of these over the years. Great short.... Show more

I like these shorts because the are comfortable, durable, and stylish. The only thing I don't like are the mesh pockets. These are not board shorts, so why use mesh in the first place ? I get that mesh cuts down on weight and drains pockets but I use these shorts for everyday wear and hiking. What good are pockets if everything falls through? So lately, I've been placing both keys & cell phone in the only "secure" cell phone pocket. As for my wallet, I find myself constantly checking to make sure it's still there in my mesh pocket....
