I bought the size 8 in short, only because the regular length wasn't available in the store. Normally I'd think they would've looked too short on me, but since they're hiking pants, they still sit at a good spot with hiking boots. They fit perfectly around my waist and no issues around the crotch like other reviewers. However, I have a pretty flat butt, so pants fit looser on me in that area since my butt isn't stretching the fabric. I really like how stretchy the pants are, which are great for making bigger/higher steps while hiking. Also, it's nice that they roll up for when you get hot or have to cross through a river. I used them for the first time this past weekend on a long hike, and they were great. I’m a biologist so I needed something that would be easy to move around in but also were light enough to stay cool while working in the Southern California heat. I would not take these in the brush because I don’t think they are durable enough for that, but they work well for everything else. These pants are very comfortable, don’t get uncomfortable when I sweat, and seem to dry quickly. But there are a couple things I do not like about them. I am 5’3 so bought the 30” inseam. Which are too long. I have to roll them up twice so they don’t drag on the ground. And because they are too long, I cannot utilize the roll-up part of the pants because when rolled up they sit too low at my ankles. When rolled down, the buttons on the inside hit my ankles. I look forward to getting a lot of use out of these pants, if they hold up as well as the splash roll-up pants.

These were incredibly comfortable - they move with you and are exceedingly lightweight so I felt far less hot while hiking than I did in my regular shorts. Hold onto the rollup snaps with both hands (I pulled one off trying to separate the snaps on day one of my trip).Wish the side pockets had zippers but still were very useful. I had no trouble with those snaps. Check if it will fit your phone if you have a newer bigger phone (I have an old iPhone IS and it fit perfectly with room to spare. Package of tissues, sunscreen, and lip balm all fit easily.They are a little roomier than other Kuhl pants; I selected that they fit true to size because "a little on the larger size" is not an option.
