I bought the size 8 in short, only because the regular length wasn't available in the store. Normally I'd think they would've looked too short on me, but since they're hiking pants, they still sit at a good spot with hiking boots. They fit perfectly around my waist and no issues around the crotch like other reviewers. However, I have a pretty flat butt, so pants fit looser on me in that area since my butt isn't stretching the fabric. I really like how stretchy the pants are, which are great for making bigger/higher steps while hiking. Also, it's nice that they roll up for when you get hot or have to cross through a river. I used them for the first time this past weekend on a long hike, and they were great. I will be exchanging them and hope that it doesn't happen again.

I’m a biologist so I needed something that would be easy to move around in but also were light enough to stay cool while working in the Southern California heat. I would not take these in the brush because I don’t think they are durable enough for that, but they work well for everything else. These pants are very comfortable, don’t get uncomfortable when I sweat, and seem to dry quickly. But there are a couple things I do not like about them. I am 5’3 so bought the 30” inseam. Which are too long. I have to roll them up twice so they don’t drag on the ground. And because they are too long, I cannot utilize the roll-up part of the pants because when rolled up they sit too low at my ankles. When rolled down, the buttons on the inside hit my ankles. Also, if I wear boots, they get caught up inside of the top of them, which is annoying. I would love to see a 28” inseam option. Also, at the least, deeper side pockets would be nice. Is it too much to ask for women’s pants to have useable pockets? Even with all that, I’d still buy another pair. I bought the coal color, which is great for almost anything. I look forward to getting a lot of use out of these pants, if they hold up as well as the splash roll-up pants.

These were incredibly comfortable - they move with you and are exceedingly lightweight so I felt far less hot while hiking than I did in my regular shorts. Hold onto the rollup snaps with both hands (I pulled one off trying to separate the snaps on day one of my trip).Wish the side pockets had zippers but still were very useful. I had no trouble with those snaps. Check if it will fit your phone if you have a newer bigger phone (I have an old iPhone IS and it fit perfectly with room to spare. Package of tissues, sunscreen, and lip balm all fit easily. They are a little roomier than other Kuhl pants; I selected that they fit true to size because "a little on the larger size" is not an option. One size down fit perfectly, but I wanted to be sure to have room to move ... MoreThese were incredibly comfortable - they move with you and are exceedingly lightweight so I felt far less hot while hiking than I did in my regular shorts. They fit the same after multiple washings and a couple of dryings.

I cannot express how much I love these pants. They are true to size. The fit is PERFECT for my body type which is rare. Size 31/12 in jeans… a size 12 in these. Being 5’7” with big thighs and a smaller waist but a tummy that bloats… the waistline is perfect. Sits right below the bellybutton, similar to mid rise, but the butt space is enough. (Sometimes in mid-low rise pants, the butt is too small.) My legs never chafe. The buttons felt very comfortable with a heavy pack on my waist. Wore these for 3 months straight in rugged Baja and they came out with only a scratch. They should’ve been torn to shreds but they only ripped in one spot on a very jagged rock so I’m impressed that they survived so well. They don’t get dirty, the dirt seems to not stick. Not kidding. ... MoreI cannot express how much I love these pants. They are true to size. The fit is PERFECT for my body type which is rare. Size 31/12 in jeans… a size 12 in these. Dry fast when you wash them. Feels very soft but sturdy. One million out of ten.
I haven't even worn these hiking yet but glad I decided to wear them on a recent trip to Vegas. These were so uncomfortable once I started sweating. The sweat just sat there under the pants and made me miserable. There was no wicking away of the sweat. The material is different from a pair I purchased years ago and love, and still have, but they are starting to show signs of wear. So I bought these even though the material was different because I liked the old pair so much and figured they knew what they were doing. The fit is nice and the pants are long enough on my 5'8 frame. I believe my inseam is 31 inches. A horrible fabric unless you will never sweat.
I did a lot of research on hiking pants, and was very pleased with the fit and comfort of these pants. Took them on a hike, and they did great with shedding water from a light rain, providing just enough warmth, and offering plenty of flexibility to climb up and over logs. But when I washed and hung them to dry, I spotted a tiny rip/hole in the fabric along the thigh. I can only figure a blackberry bramble snagged the pants along the hike. I really do love these pants, and I would absolutely wear them on another hike. But I am definitely disappointed in how easily they ripped like this. I would give them a five star review, but I knocked off two stars for the lack of durability of the fabric.
Why mimic a cargo pant by giving us stupid shallow pockets on the thigh? I'm so tired of the little pockets. What's the point? They're not deep enough, don't close well, and are useless other than for storing chapstick. Antoher problem with these is that the button pops open and I personally prefer a higher rise.Try the men's Columbia Silver Ridge OmniShield Convertible pants. Just as comfy and more versatile for $60. I wear a women's 6/8 and got the men's 30W/32L. Better button at the waist, includes a belt, deep cargo pockets for your phone and/or maps, deep hand pockets as well.Another better option is the women's REI Kornati Rollup Pants. This is an update to my previous review titled: love AND hate ... in this case, hate wins!REI offered to refund/return the faulty pants, but they were great pants except for the faulty snap closure at the waistband...too nice to send to landfill. With any twist, turn, or bend of the torso, the snap pops open...not cool & not caused by a too tight fit.Height 5'10"Weight 125–150 lbs.Body Type Slender# Used for: Casual/Athleisure, Hiking or Camping
These are the ones! Tried all of them. Perfect for walking the dogs in every type of weather. Not thin, almost heavy . Feels strong but the heaviness doesn’t equate to perspiration ( if that makes sense ) .Some hiking pants give up strength in an effort to keep cool. These don’t. Dogs can jump on me, skin is fine. Walking through brambles, etc., skin is fine. Rain, fine. These are just the very best. The fit is straight, too. No weird gaps. Snaps stay snapped when you roll them up, too. Side pockets perfect for cell phones and snacks! Belt loops are strong, too! Hung my water bottle on one, dog treat bag on other multiple trips, STILL ATTACHED ( most come unstitches) Unparalleled quality.
I bought these a while ago and have been hiking in them many times, but yesterday's hike made me want to write a review. While walking through an area of a trail covered in leaves, I stepped on a long hidden stick. Who knows how it happened, but the end of this stick popped out of the leaves and hit me right in the shin, causing me to hop, skip, and jump to avoid falling. I commented to my hiking partner that the incident would leave me with a bruised shin. After getting off the trail, I found that I didn't just have a bruise, but that the incident left me bloody and scraped up. While I was left a bit battered, I can only see damage to the pants if I use my imagination and look really hard at the spot that might have endured the stick. So, would I buy them again. ... MoreI bought these a while ago and have been hiking in them many times, but yesterday's hike made me want to write a review.
