Takes a while to set up and put together but it’s worth it. This is just amazing! It’s so simple to switch between pressures with a simple twist of the wand and also being able to switch between different jobs by pressing the a+/- buttons. The round attachment for surfaces is easy to use and is great for stopping all those nasty splash backs. The power of the dirt blast mode is simply fabulous, I couldn’t believe how clean my drive became so quickly! It is quite heavy but because it has a handle abs wheels I didn’t really have to do any lifting so I don’t think the weight affects anything at all so it’s very easy to live around with you to different jobs. I bought a Karcher K5 to replace a Nilfisk D-PG 140 which had proven unreliable (replaced and repaired and failed again so gave up on that, but maybe I was unlucky). I have a very large sandstone patio and paths to clean (max 2x a year, but it takes a while). Been using the K5 in anger for about a month now with now problems. The path cleaning device wasn't working today but just needed to remove and clean out the nozzles with a pin and it was fine again. Compared to the Nilfisk, the K5 has a more modern display/control which is much better. Nilfisk hose rolling in/out overall better/more logical but K5's works ok. Nilfisk way of wrapping up electical cable better than mildly annoying web power to stuff electrical cable into on K5. Karcher iPhone app is ok but not ... This requires a bluetooth connection between the lance handle and the main unit to work. This failed to connect after 18 months of very light usage and is unusable. Halfords only guarantee for 12 months and Karcher wriggled out of the 5-year warranty. Overly complex and the quality is not what it used to be. Previous Karcher lasted 12 years. No longer a quality product but a premium price. Save yourself a great deal of money and rent if you need to clean your patio (once a year?) or go to the local garage to clean the car for a couple of quid;

The pressure hose is way too rigid making it near impossible to unwind and wind back up in cold weather, the hose also reverts back to it's coiled shape once unwound meaning it instantly tangles up in itself. When trying to wind it back in the coiled shape prevents it from going through the hole and it starts to kink, the brass union that fits into the lance gets dragged along the ground and damaged, again due to the permanent coiled shape of the hose. Power cord storage is hopeless aswell, assuming that the net pocket on the back is for that purpose. Neither quick or easy. Once you've overcome those elements of poor design is does work well, hence the 3 stars.
The K5 had the attachment for cleaning patios. I have always been skeptical of "gizmos" till now, so I didn't expect much from it. However it is excellent and saves I think more than 50% time on cleaning a patio. I like the K5 itself - it is powerful and flexible to use. I have read some complaints about the incorporated hose reel being a bit awkward. This is true and is the one thing probably needs working on or else I didn't work it out yet.
The Karcher pressure washer appears to be of good quality as you’d expect from a German manufacturer. Purchased the K5 smart premium for the integral Karcher hose storage as always found this to be troublesome in dealing with the reinforced hose on cheaper models. First use still struggled as it’s difficult to wind onto integral drum but better than previous. Delivery of washer took 3 weeks without any update from Karcher then email saying it was dispached and arrived next day. Would have expected 3 days for delivery and better updates. Overall satisfied though.

Hose quality is poor abs the design for storing it is flawed. The hose kinks very badly and is a real pain. The wheels are very small and although ideal for a patio do not work well in a gravel drive (my old 3.99 karcher had much bigger wheels). I prefer my old machine to be honest and may return this one and get my old one repaired. Only bought this model for the extra long hose but given the hose is so poor I might replace with another thicker one from eBay which defeats the object of buying a expensive model. My K5 is now about 4 years old when it works it’s great but why does no one mention the cheap and frustrating Karcher bayonet interlock system for swapping out attachments, just took off main lance yellow insert left on trigger. Removed with long nose pliers, fitted karcher foam gun leaks from interlock and yet another yellow nozzle left in the trigger wish Karcher would sort out bayonet fitting. Have loads of attachments but hate to change them as you don’t know if they are going to disconnect or connect correctly. Complained to Karcher’s who sent a pack of yellow inserts with a range of o-rings with unintelligible diagrammatic instructions.
