After opening 3 different containers with the same problem and returning them to the store, I will not purchase again. After peeling the foil seal off and using for a couple of days, suddenly I hear a "pop" sound and there is a big air pocket that has opened wide enough to put my 2 thumbs into from the top of the container all the way to the bottom. ! I contacted L'Occitane through email with pictures included and they advised that the air pocket was normal and a result of their new packaging so that it would not spill out in transit. What? I've used this product for years and never run into this problem until they changed the formula. I feel as this is a shortage on the product that I am paying for. This is deceptive selling of a product and you are not giving the customer what they paid for!

I have previously written in regarding the disappointing change in this product, and wanted to provide a follow-up after I had a chance to give the product a try. Not only is the scent off-putting, but the product itself has lost its long-lasting moisturizing properties which used to set it apart from so many competing brands. Furthermore, the new tin container is flimsy and less compact. There is no doubt that the original formula was a moisturizing agent as well as a healing agent to some extent, for excessively dry skin, cuticles, healed scrapes, etc. After applying this new formula, I notice no immediate change to the quality of my skin for the better. In fact, the new formula leaves my skin with a chalky feel immediately after application. In fact, the new formula leaves my skin with a chalky feel immediately after application. Several hours and days after application, there is absolutely no evidence (in look and feel) that my skin was previously moisturized. Additionally, the new container is an awkward size and is now too large for a single hand to unscrew and re-screw the top. My tin container now has several dents in it and the top consistently closes unevenly which I've now accepted as the norm. If this tin container was intended to be a more sustainable product compared to the durable container which carried the original formula, for several decades, I unfortunately think L'Occitane has missed the mark.In fact, sustainability of your loyal customer base should have been a main priority before deciding to develop a brand new product under the moniker of a beloved and treasured staple.

I am fairly new to the L'Occitane line of products. My skin is mature and sensitive and the Ultra Rich Body Cream came highly recommended to me. I was very pleased with my first purchases and talked about it to my family and friends, then gave it as Christmas and birthday gifts that year. These are a luxury purchases for me, but worth it for the results I was getting. The Ultra original formula not only soaked into my skin, smoothing out the crepey areas, it left a smooth non-greasy seal that lasted a long while. The results I received and the beautiful scent made me feel pampered. It was well worth my spending. But, when I opened my next jar, I was very dissappointed in how it smelled and performed. This is my first review, I feel so strongly that I must write something.Like everyone else, I loved the last formula. This new formula smelt off, and so I didn't use it for a few months. I found another brand in the meantime. I felt bad to return it. Today I tried it and I have a headache, then now my body is sweating and heated up as if there is a toxin in my body that it's trying to get out.To me the company did this for cost saving or some other reason that they're not saying. It's disappointing that they didn't even announce this and lies about the reason. I lost respect for the brand. If it's meant for the all ages now, how? This has an added fragrance just like before. Also it has a new ingredient, beta-glucan, which I'm not sure how this is better than a ... MoreThis is my first review, I feel so strongly that I must write something.Like everyone else, I loved the last formula. This new formula smelt off, and so I didn't use it for a few months. Also it has a new ingredient, beta-glucan, which I'm not sure how this is better than a natural apricot oil.I feel the company should admit their rushed product mistake and move on, versus trying to keep selling this as an improved product.Or have two products for both consumers.
I NEVER write reviews but was compelled to leave one. I have been a loyal customer for many years and this has been my absolute favorite body treatment. I use it daily year round. I have purchased it as gifts for mothers. I have recommended it to friends. I purchased the product thinking the only thing that changed was the packaging. I could not believe it when I started applying it. I cannot use the new formulation as the scent is horrible. I am profoundly disappointed in the product and will never purchase again. I would urge others not to either. You cannot put something on your body that has this off-putting a smell. If the person putting on the cream doesn't like how they smell imagine what others around them think! This used to be a scent I looked forward to ... MoreI NEVER write reviews but was compelled to leave one. I just got my shipment in. I bought a couple of these during 21 Days of Beauty because I did the same last year and absolutely loved the product. I did see beforehand that the product was "review bombed" with numerous complaints about the new packaging and formula, and I decided to ignore them on the assumption that people are generally averse to change. That may have been a mistake.I have not had a chance to use this fully on my whole body, but I will say there IS some different quality to the fragrance that I can't quite place. It DOES remind me a little of pickles, or maybe capers or dill? There's a strange "pickled flower" after-note to the scent. It is not overwhelming, and the base smells the same as the original, but it is lingering and hard to ignore once ... MoreI just got my shipment in. It is not overwhelming, and the base smells the same as the original, but it is lingering and hard to ignore once you pick up on it. If you have a sensitive nose, and if you especially hate the smell of dill, you should pass this over.Using it on my hands and arms alone, so far, the formula does seem a bit more "filmy" than the previous iteration, but if you rub it in well, it is not too heavy or greasy. However, you do have to massage it in more than the previous formula.I will need to give it more time to determine how it feels on my whole body, and if that strange aroma is too off putting. As for the new container, I happen to like the new packaging, with the replaceable insert in the metal can, but the fact that the insert itself is fully plastic seems to defeat some of the plastic-reduction purpose.
I love the almond line that your company sells but truly, this is the product that has always kept me coming back. The original formula was luxurious and using it was an experience that I enjoyed every time I left the shower. It would have to be for most women to spend this amount of $$$ on a body cream. Again, would have gladly continued to purchase a product that made me smile every time I used it. UNTIL you destroyed it. It truly was perfect. Why did you throw away a devoted customer base for maybe appeasing a sect of the population that obviously isn't using your products anyway?? I hope your company loses on this gamble of yours. Since I have to buy a new cream anyway, ( hello CeraVe) I plan on not buying any of your products again. You could have just added another product to appeal to those who this would have appealed to but that seems like that would take too much common sense. Goodbye L'Occitane.
I recently purchased this new formula and was extremely disappointed. I used to love this product and used it daily. I find this new formula awful - the smell of lavender is way too strong and the cream leaves a greasy coating on the skin. The beauty of the old formula was its subtle fragrance and it absorbed quickly and thoroughly into the skin.Whilst I appreciate that the new formula has over 95% natural ingredients making it vegan friendly and that the new scent is designed to be suitable for sensitive skin and can be used for children over 3 years, the new strong lavender scent is definitely not suitable for people who suffer from allergies and sinus. Wow, it seems like all of the "new, clean charter" reformulations of the Shea products have an offensive cat pee/ ammonia smell, and an off-putting, greasy finish, nothing like how they used go be :( Almost every new reformulated shea butter product code ending in 22/23 feels and smells this way, so, be warned before buying (or, save yourself & just DON'T BUY!!). All of the awful reviews for this body cream that was changed early on last year (a productl had too once adored) are telling a story, clearly everyone is having an issue with these new changes! L'Occitane -- why are you not listening to us? lt's embarrassing as a brand to throw the products that defined you down the drain like this. ! hope the company makes changes quickly, because the inside scoop is that ... MoreWow, it seems like all of the "new, clean charter" reformulations of the Shea products have an offensive cat pee/ ammonia smell, and an off-putting, greasy finish, nothing like how they used go be :( Almost every new reformulated shea butter product code ending in 22/23 feels and smells this way, so, be warned before buying (or, save yourself & just DON'T BUY!!). I'd like to start my L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream review by mentioning the beautiful packaging. Not only are the colours striking, but THE BRAILLE! What a terrific feature to include on the box and product. Secondly is the fact the all the packaging is recyclable. Once you're finished with the cream, you can simply remove the plastic insert and re-use or recycle the metal tin.The product itself is wonderful. Suited for dry and sensitive skin, the thick cream is easy to apply and soaks right into your skin, without leaving you feeling greasy. The cream smells wonderful and so familiar, with an almost powdery scent. It's not as dry or rough as it normally would be at this time of year, and I've noticed I haven't had as many eczema flair-ups as usual.I will definitely be using this cream from now on.Thank you to L'Occitane for gifting me this beautiful new product to trial.
