This is THEE ONLY box hair dye I will use is Lioresal. As a licensed cosmetologist I can tell you many, many, actually MOST box brands are very bad for your hair. I mean no hair color is good for your hair BUT Lioresal gives a product that has healthy vitamins and nutrients in it to restore any damage. It is an amazing brand. The hair dye is beautiful, and they also have an extremly wide variety of other colors and dye products such as highlighters and many others. The hair color truly lasts very long, ot doesn't fade and it is true to color. It doesn't take even an hour to dye just 20 to 30 min. Depending on the outcome you want, personally. The after ward wash n conditioner is amazing, leaves your hair with a beautiful shine and even adds volume. I think this is the best brand as far as store bought box brand hair dyes go. Like I said, they're the only one I use, it's a very wonderful and trustworthy company and the results are proof enough!! You'll save TONS of money for the same look if not better and healthier, and even longer lasting. They're all priced at a very affordable price and if you have never tried it or any of their products, I highly recommend that you do, L'Orea Parisl is an all around innovative, trustworthy, high-quality for low prices, just an amazing company and brand. I would recommend any and all of their products to anyone and everyone out there. They are truly an amazing company, you can always count on effective and wonderful results with all of their products, in al most 36 years I've NEVER come across any bad expiierences with any their products, and I've used SEVERAL!!!!... Formula changed, quality far worse...sadly.
13 September 2024
I have been using L’Oréal hair color for 20 yrs & tried every version they made. Loved them all. Hair looked shiny & the color stayed for a few weeks even in the summer. Excellence changed yrs ago so I begun with Preference. My natural hair color is dark brown & I’d always buy the deepest shade of black. I was only needing it a couple levels darker. However, since they changed the formula of the Preference as well, the hair color is terrible quality. The difference is noticeable immediately. Doesn’t color as well, hair is no longer shiny or soft rather dull. The worst is that the color literally lasts in no longer than 10 days. At best, couple weeks. It’s useless. I tried Féria being that it was meant to be more intense hair color. No, same. L’Oréal has gone down ... MoreI have been using L’Oréal hair color for 20 yrs & tried every version they made. FROM SUPERIOR TO INFERIOR - GOODBYE L'OREAL
11 June 2024
I've been a faithful Superior Preference Soft Black #3 customer for 18 years. I was disappointed with your Corporate Greed years ago when you cheapened the conditioner, but I tolerated it and continued to emphatically recommend your product to friends and family. I am SAD TO SAY that is over. This new formulation is so bad and plainly, so INFERIOR to your original product, I almost can't believe it. The change was noticeable immediatelyupon application!! I actually thought I bought the wrong color, as it was translucent (gel-like) with a reddish tone, instead of opaque BLACK as it always was. Then as I sat with it on, my entire head began burning slightly (something that NEVER before happened, and did dissipate after about 20 min). HONESTLY, I'M SOOO SAD TO LOSE what used to be a great product. I hope it was worth it!... Show more

I have blondish- light brown hair with some gray strands, which show up as icky yellow gray, urine color gray, not a pleasant gray color, so I’m on a quest to find a decent mask color product. My hairdresser used a semipermanent color that was ok, albeit faint and disappeared not long after applied; he acknowledged that anything different, more defined, would require continued visits to maintain, and I can’t bring myself to pay that much on an ongoing basis. For my latest attempt, I chose this color in 6A as the box claims to minimize red/orange tones, a problem I encountered with all I’ve tried, within a wide variety of home box dyes, different brands, permanent and semi-permanent, colors from 9-7, A, G, AU, and so on (I did not know meaning of A, G, until ... MoreI have blondish- light brown hair with some gray strands, which show up as icky yellow gray, urine color gray, not a pleasant gray color, so I’m on a quest to find a decent mask color product. I suppose technically it did so far, but it’s only day 2, minimize the red and orange tones although there is some pinkish-orange color, but I don’t look like Cheetohead yet. The smell while processing was horrible, burned my eyes and nose; I did not experience a “new fragrance” noted on box, unless they meant a variation on chemical smell (noticed with 2 of 3 different L’Oréal hair dye products). My hair is silky right now from the conditioner cream, but I’m not really seeing any shine or brilliance. I hope works out, at least on OK level; if so, I will use it as long as possible.... Hot Root disaster, AVOID 6A LIGHT ASH BROWN!
15 January 2024
Purchased this product to do touch up on grey hair and was extremely disappointed. The smell first of all was horrendous and smelled like ammonia, luckily it mildly dissipated after a few minutes. I used the L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference Permanent Hair Color, 6A Light Ash Brown on my dark brown 10% grey hair. To my surprise, after processing I ended up with hot roots (very orangey red roots). I initially purchased this color because it is an ASH Brown which should prevent natural brunettes from getting reddish hair, it did the opposite! If you DO NOT want get hot roots AVOID this color!!! The worst part is that to fix this horrendous result I had to go a shade deeper than my normal hair color. New Preference is Terrible
16 July 2024
I have been using 8A your Ash Blonde Preference for probably 10 years. I loved the multidimensional color it gave and I love how it tined down any brassiness that happens if I am out in the sun a lot. It used to make my hair feel so soft and silky after coloring. I tried the new "improved" formula of your preference and it was so disappointing just like so many others have stated. The thick foamy texture was not easy to rinse out and the conditioner does not seem to be as good either. Now to the color...it is not multidimensional any longer it seems almost flat! And the color tone was very strange with a purplish blue tinge and my hair felt so dry and damaged! I am so very sad about this because I really loved this as my go to hair color. Now I do not know what brand to try. I have not had great results with other brands in the past but I guess it is time to try again. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO CHANGE SOMETHING THAT WORKED SO WELL?? You need to bring back the old formula. Also the colors on the covers of the new boxes make the hair colors look awful. I should have listened to my gut on that because I thought the model on the cover of the 8A looked horrible in comparison the the color of hair on the old version and the actual new color did look and feel horrible. Smells terrible too. Whoever at your company decided to change this formula should be fired! Yu are losing a lot of customers.... Show more
