Wake-up call: it’s mediocre! The first ingredient is PETROLEUM (and then mineral oil in the cream, followed by a ton of cheap fillers!) . Well, the same is true for the lip balm. First ingredient: petroleum. It does have some good ingredients though such as: algae, plant oils, copper, magnesium, aloe and my favorite- glycerin. Of course it has the laughable ā€œmiracle brothā€. But, it also has cholesterol, fragrance and dyes, which can be irritating for sensitive lips (not the cholesterol- that’s just a cheap filler). This has eucalyptus oil in it, which gives it a mint scent and a slight tingle sensation when you first apply. It is surprisingly hydrating and does a good job with conditioning and nourishing the lips whether you use during the day, or really slather it on overnight. I have repurchased this a few times, so I grudgingly admit that I do like it (my lips like it) even though I’m not La Mer’s biggest fan. It’s $75 so I probably wouldn’t recommend it because there are better ones out there that are less expensive, but if you love La Mer or just want to splurge then I will say that this DOES work.

It just does such a nice job as a daytime lip balm. Sightly minty and cooling for a few seconds, it fills the lips with moisture without greasiness. It absorbs well and it lasts forever too. Definitely worth repurchasing for me. I have severely dry lips and while this is not suitable overnight for me (I use the Dior Lip Plumping serum and Dior Lip Plumping Lipgloss as an overnight mask- it does WONDERS) I LOVE this balm for daytime.

If you’ve budget and willing to splurge on a brand like La Mer it’s ok but don’t expect it to heal your lips fast. I think Chanel’s lip balm helps to heal faster. My lips still peeled while I was using this La Mer lip balm religiously. This product is just an okay borderline lovely lip balm, not the best, I’m still searching for the best.

A long-time favorite, there's only one thing I don't like about this product and that is its packaging. I wish it was in a tube, or came with an applicator. It's not always possible to wash my hands before applying so I end up using a cotton swab to apply, which wastes some of the product in the process, and at this price I really hate to waste any of it! Despite that (and its ever-increasing price tag) I love this lip balm and have re-purchased it a few times over the years. This is like a basic every day lip balm, neither too concentrated, nor too light - a hard balance to find. and it's that balance, its perfect texture which keeps bringing me back to it, because it's the only one I can easily apply any lip color or product over and not have any issues with. As much as I love Nuxe and Jack Black's lip balms, they're just too rich and sticky to work as a base, although they are much better as lip treatments - when your lips really need the extra hydration in cold weather. This one, on the other hand doesn't doesn't do a thing in winter, and I tend not to pack it in my suitcase if heading anywhere cold. Like all LM products, it contains the Miracle Broth, along with a whole bunch of other ingredients, yet despite the minty taste which lingers for a few hours after applying, there doesn't appear to be anything remotely minty in the ingredients list which is puzzling. In any case, it works well, lasts me a very long time and is one of just a few LM products that I'd happily repurchase.~ My Neiman Marcus Top 7 must-have list ~(My top 7 must-have beauty products of all time, focusing mainly on my purchases at Neiman Marcus)1. Excellent balm minus the mint flavor
30 November 2022

I love this balm. If you live in Alaska and have dry skin, you can expect chronically chapped lips, which I usually suffer from during our cold season (6 months of the year). I've tried more lip balms than I can count and NONE have done what La Mer's lip balm (used alongside the lip polish on some days) has done. We're dealing with subzero/single digit temps currently. My chapped lips are gone. I didn't see any improvement until I started using La Mer's products. It has only been a little over two weeks!Game changer. Now if only La Met made other flavours or even unflavoured as I'm not a fan of mint.Highly recommend.

HG lip balm!

I normally don’t leave reviews but I had to for this. My lips have been chronically dry for as long as I can remember. Regardless of the lip balm used at bedtime, I would wake up to rough and dry lips that peeled before I even had my morning coffee. I’ve tried them all - lanegie lip sleep mask, fresh lip balm, caudalie, qtica, Vaseline, Burt’s bees, etc. Some were better than others but none of them have done what this lip balm has done. In less than a week, my lips have become soft, moist, plump. There’s nothing to peel! I can’t stop looking at them and I’m totally amazed by the transformation. I was hesitant to pay so much for a lip balm, but I’m so glad that I did. I can even go without balm during the day now and my lips stay soft. Luxury item let down by main ingredient
7 February 2023

I first tried this 20 years ago. It was £40 and came in a similar tub with a white lid. I remember thinking at the time that it was like spreading chocolate mint ice cream on your lips (in a good way)Feeling nostalgic, I decided to look at this iconic lip balm again. As the brand is now owned by Estee Lauder, I took at the look at the ingredients and didn't get past the first one. It's petrolatum. You may find this product ticks all your boxes but I can't bring myself to pay almost £60 for a lip balm which shares it's main ingredient with Vaseline.I pay money to avoid ingredients like this.

Mediocre Quality and Overpriced

Being a massive fan of most things La Mer, I thought I would love this product. In the summer my lips tend to get dry, and I’ll run through insane amounts of lip balm trying to keep them feeling and looking nice.La Mer is my go-to when I want to treat myself. From their toner, to their cleanser, their various moisturizers, I could go on and on, I thought this lip balm would be top tier. Sadly it felt cheap from the jump. The jar itself is cheap plastic that doesn’t feel like suitable for a $100 lip balm. The product itself is meh, and I find myself having to re-apply constantly throughout the day with mediocre results. There are far better lip balms out there for half the price or less. Even some drug store lip balms outperform this for a fraction of the cost. I’ll still be a La Mer customer for life, but this was a once and never again purchase.

The BEST
26 March 2023

Nothing beats this. I’ve tried a LOT of different lip balms of various price points and this is by far the pick of them all. Nothing else makes my lips feels so soft and smooth. I have a recurring dry area on my bottom lip that only goes away when I use this (and comes straight back when I stop). The scent is a subtle sweet mint and texture is perfect. You only need a really small amount and it stays on your lips leaving them feeling nourished for ages so each pot lasts a really long time. Absolute must-have. I always have it in my handbag or by my bed.
