I’ve used the La Roche Posay 50+ Shaka fluid everyday for 3 years. I would normally go through one bottle a month so I tended to bulk buy when offers were on. When I first saw the new formula come out I got quite excited as I had high hopes for this higher UVA protection. So like normal, I brought 3 new bottles of it to add to my stock. I really hope La Roche Posay listens to these reviews and does something about it. I’d really like to keep using their products but if nothing is done about it, I’m really considering looking for alternatives (which as a long-time customer, is quite a shame).

This is a great product with superior sun protection. It is very lightweight and running in texture. The packaging is really efficient and perfect for taking along with you when you are travelling. However, the UVMUNE variant is yellowish compared to its predecessor, which was creamy white in color. It does not look as flattering on the skin as the previous non-UVMUNE version did, but I guess that is the price you pay for the higher end protection! I use this when I am travelling and going to be spending a lot of time in the sun and I do reapply it during the day without it piling or balling up. It is invisible on the skin, which is great! This sunscreen is just as the label says…hydrating! I found that my skin became oily if I used this alongside a moisturiser. My skin is pretty normal if not on the dryer side due to prescription retinoid treatment. I found that it stung my skin the day after I had used an exfoliant but it is hardly surprising as my skin was more prone to irritation. This is my skin and those with normal sensitive skin will be different. This product is “fragrance free” so it does have the traditional suncream scent. This doesn’t bother me but I know some people find it offensive. Even though this is a hydrating cream, it seems to have moisture wicking properties. It’s lightweight but still water resistant and is the only sunscreen I can wear without instantly sweating in the humid summers in my area. It doesn’t make my face/neck feel sticky and gross and unless I apply a ton, it doesn’t leave me a shiny. (If you do apply a lot - as in more than the recommended 1/2 teaspoon for your face - it does leave you with a little dewy shine but this dries down.) I have medium-tan skin and it leaves NO cast on me or my friend with a deep skin tone. Most amazingly: this doesn’t bother my eyes AT ALL, even when put on my lids/up to my lower lash line. I agree, super disappointed! I will not be using this again now the formula has changed from the original La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultralight Invisible Fluid SPF50+ Sun Cream. I felt this actually allowed my face to tan during this summer rather than protect it (I am very pale) and my face colour looked really uneven, yellow in places on application. I was a complete convert to the original formula and used it daily, even in the Winter but this new formula stained the neckline of all of my white tops- the original did not seem to do this and I have used it for years! The original also created a lovely sheen, almost like a primer and I could go make-up-free. I've been using this since the year of it's release and it's one of my not so secretive truths of younger looking skin, (I'm often mistaken for a twenty-something year old student), I'm 37. My other young skin truth IS a secret, haha. Not really - Always remove makeup before going to sleep, rose water applied AM & PM everyday and see the humor even in stressful or bad situations... I have light skin, green eyes and have never got sunburnt using La Roche Posay Invisible Fluid. I use this all year round - even on cloudy Wintery days. UVA damage does not discriminate and isn't just a word for Summer.
Great protection from an European sunscreen. Best broad spectrum chemical filters available that I am aware of anyway. Great UVA protection which is so important to protect collagen from breakdown. Rain or shine, indoor or outdoor, this goes on. However…..i think this may be better suited in the oiler skin types. I am combo but it’s just a tad too matte for me. UVMUNE 400 by LRP does come in creamy versions too so I may try that. But this is great for now. A good moisturizer balanced out the matte just fine tbh. I decided to try this on the recommendation of a dermatolist, because of the long uva filters, which makes this a really innovative product. Since I'm concerned with doing everything I can to prevent premature skin aging, I chose the tinted version.The tint is a little dark for me, but I take it down my neck so it looks natural.It sinks in really quickly, which is great as it this makes sure that I use the proper amount, as it doesn't spread far.I feel confident that I'm getting really good protection wearing this. Since I'm concerned with doing everything I can to prevent premature skin aging, I chose the tinted version.The tint is a little dark for me, but I take it down my neck so it looks natural.It sinks in really quickly, which is great as it this makes sure that I use the proper amount, as it doesn't spread far.I feel confident that I'm getting really good protection wearing this. I've only been using this for a week and I will see if this becomes an issue for me over time.All things considered, I am OK for now with these issues, as I find them a fair trade off for having what I consider to be one of the best technologies for protecting my skin.

It's taken me a bit longer than normal to provide a review as I wanted to see and feel the effectiveness as well as review the texture and packaging. The first thing to note is the great size and shape this SPF is housed in. Super convenient and easy to transport.
