Low cost and really great platform to learn and build on for bouldering and top rope. It fared well outdoors but I think is meant as a beginner gym shoe. The rubber isn’t phenomenal but that’s expected. The shoes are cheap and the sole peels later into their life. But true to your street size and enjoy learning on these. I bought these shoes for my son and they cracked after three months of climbing once a week. The lady at MEC told that it is normal and refused to change. I understand that cracking on the toes is normal for rock climbing shoes, but three months of once a week climbing is too short of a lifetime. The manufacturer should do a better job at using proper materials and retailer (MEC) should also be more flexible - they are in contact with manufacturers and have the possibility to push this to them.

My experienced mates tell me it's not my amateur technique.We've compared shoes and found that these have very thin, soft rubber on the point of the big toe area. On other models this seems much more reinforced.I'm getting the rubber replaced, but this repair puts the shoes effectively into premium price region.My blue model also leeches color very heavily, but that's no a problem for me.So far I've not had issues with the leather or straps.The fit is great and it would be an ideal beginners' pair if it weren't for the hidden problems.

I'm a beginner climber who started climbing 4 months ago and climb v6/5.10+. I only had these pair of shoes for two months and they're worn to the point there they cannot even be resole'd. I've seen several people at my gym with the same tarantulas and they all have issues with the durability of the sole and the binding coming off.I go climbing/Bouldering about 2-3 times a week. My first pair were a pair of scarpa quantics and despite terrible beginner footwork and dragging they only sustained minor wear and were sent in to be resole'd.Climbing shoes seem to be a lot more expensive recently and I would not recommend these if you're thinking of a starter or economic shoe. Go for the higher quality ones.
Bought these about 7 months ago when I started climbing. They broke down in about 4 months with a giant hole in the toe. I'm not gonna blame the manufacturer and say that they should use better materials, because the shoe is cheap. My bad/beginner footwork was the main reason the shoes broke down so quick. About two months ago I picked up the Theorys and I still use these tarantulas for warmups and messing around on the wall. Buying the theorys proved that better rubber does fade slower, but my footwork and technique have also improved drastically since using the taratula's so its hard to judge.Overall, buy these shoes if you wanna get into rock climbing; be ready to buy better shoes in about 4 months unless you are super careful with your beginner footwork.
I bought these shoes four months ago as my first pair of climbing shoes. There are a number of quality issues I would like to bring up. First is the rubber on the toe, I cut through the bottom of the shoe leaving just my toe able to touch those small footholds. The lower strap is fraying and falling apart. The rubber on the side of the shoe also appears to be peeling away. I am worried that after four months of low to moderate use that I will be unable to use these shoes again because I will no longer be able to trust my feet. I really expected a better quality from a company such as La Sportiva and have had good luck with many of their other products. I find it unfortunate that these shoes deteriorated so quickly.
Been climbing in Sportiva shoes my whole life and quality was never an issue, until now. After just two months of very light use (like two one hour gym sessions a week) they started falling apart. The sole of the shoe started separating from the shoe itself. The crazy part is this happened on the outside of the foot, that doesn’t really touch holds or the wall! Not dragging my foot when climbing or anything like that. I was so shocked I contacted Sportiva, thought this was clearly a defective pair of shoes, but they did nothing about it. Super disappointing. Don’t waste your money like I did.
I used to own the laced version of this shoe (La Sportiva Tarantulace) and I'm a huge fan of the velcro closure system. While the heel cup may not be as tight as the Tarantulace's, this shoe is MUCH easier to take on and off...which is especially useful if you're doing a lot of outdoor bouldering that requires you to take your shoes on and off frequently. This shoe will never be as aggressive as the La Sportiva Solution or as well rounded as the La Sportiva TC Pro, but if you're looking for a low-cost but incredibly durable and comfortable shoe, look no further! I love these and expect them to last
Pretty solid beginner shoe. Comfortable and the velcro is still in good shape after a year and a half. The toes started showing holes around 6 months in and both have proper holes now. Not the most durable, but I liked them and the price is right.
