I'm backing up my mac with time machine, this product constantly ejects from the mac and gives 'eject' errors. Have to manually unplug - replug to start the back up again.This happens in sleep mode AND when I'm using it normally. I've tried all the energy saving settings but no good.

I’ve had this drive a few weeks and like the small footprint and esthetic. I bought it to serve as a backup location. I know that HHD drives are not as fast as SSD drives but they are more reliable, which you do want for your backup. However the speed of the drive is a major issue. For a 5TB drive I wish that I’d invested in something faster. It takes HOURS for my backup to run. Buyers remorse for sure. :-/

The hard drive is fairly compact for amount of space it has available. Comes with a USB-C cord in the box and setup was easier than expected. You have a quick install manual that will guide you step-by-step and gets you through the process efficiently. It is a space saver for any device that needs it freed up. I used it for an 256GB iPad and it was great freeing up the space and not having to delete anything. Definitely recommend this product for anybody that has space issues for their devices.

I really like this LaCie Mobile 5TB External USB-C 3.2 Portable Hard Drive with Rescue Data Recovery Services! It was easy to set up and it’s easy to use. It comes with very detailed and informative instructions which is very handy. I really enjoy the ample storage capacity and the portability of this hard drive. I like that it is made with recycled materials also. Overall, I feel that this hard drive is very well made and performs well. I highly recommend it!
I purchased this drive for Time Machine backups for my new MacBook Pro and the experience was flawless. Set up was fast and easy. It's so quiet and attractive. Good price, free shipping, expedited delivery were bonuses. (BTW, it follows an older LaCie that served as backup from my previous MacBook Pro. That drive successfully transferred all my files and preference to the new machine without a hitch.)
This hard drive is perfect for anyone that needs a lot of extra space. 5 TB is more than the normal person needs but great for anyone who does a lot of PC gaming, has videos/pictures stored, or uses a hard drive for a separate operating system. It works with both Macs and PCs - all you need is to download a different software. You can drag and drop files or use the built-in backup feature to create a custom backup plan of all important files you never want to lose. Comes with a USB-C to USB-C cord so must have a USB-C port on your laptop/computer. Overall, great, sleek, and very easy to use.
I received this external drive for free in exchange for an honest review. This is a great external drive to have! I use it when traveling, and for backing up important documents. The software is easy to use and sets up quickly. The protective aluminum case is durable (although I do recommend getting a travel case for it), so I don’t worry about traveling with it. The USB-C connection is fast and powerful. If you’re looking for an external hard drive to use, I highly recommend this one!
I have been using this for about a month now, primarily as a personal photo and video backup drive. It’s been easy to use and hasn’t given any problems. Basically I took it out of the box, plugged it into my computer and it just worked.It’s not some bullet proof vault type of portable hard drives I have seen at the store. This is “normal” shape, size and plastic shell material. That’s not a bad thing if you are just using it at home and aren’t planning to beat it up.Overall, I am happy with the capacity, functionality and simplicity of this drive.It also worked with both my windows and Mac laptops.

I truly believe you can never have too many external drives around. I have a ton of family pictures that I keep multiple copies of on multiple drives because I can not afford to lose them because they’re irreplaceable. It uses the same toolkit software as my Firecuda and that was a plus for me. It does transfer files pretty quickly but if you have gigs upon gigs to transfer, I’d recommend that you break it up in sessions (depending on your system speed too). If you have this drive running for more than an hour or so, it gets HOT so be mindful of that. I love the size of this LaCie drive.
