When my writing is specific, e.g., an informal personal letter, journal entries, staff meeting notes, I tend to pick up a fountain pen. When writing everyday notes like those I take when studying a subject and office notes, I pick up a ballpoint, gel, or rollerball pen. No matter the occasion, I want to write with a pen I enjoy looking at and holding. I did not have consistent writing experiences with Lamy Safari fountain pens. Either the nib was scratchy due to misaligned tines or the ink would dry up quickly because the cap did not seal well. I'm very happy to be able to get the Safari in rollerball form. What attracts me to this pen is its fun-like more casual and simplistic design with the candy-like colors: yellow, pink, and green, being my favorite. I currently have a Pentel Energel LRN needletip refill in it with the help of a spacer (I use the plastic tubing that holds the Uni Style Fit gel multi refills and cut it down to size). With this same tubing spacer, I've placed a Jetstream SXR refill in it which also fits perfectly. Without the need of a spacer, I'm able to use one of my favorite rollerball refills, the Ohto C-305P in blue-black. Needless to say, I am very happy with the newest edition to my Safari collection!

These are sure a daring design. I love that they are playing around with contrasting colours and textures. I do have a few Safaris, and these have certainly been a fun addition. The Safari does have a certain aesthetic to it. It's a striking design that can be polarising, but I've come to appreciate it since I got my first Safari from Cult Pens, the Dark Lilac. I much prefer the all plastic Safari to the Al Star. Many of my Safari pens have custom nibs. They've certainly been quite fun to write with!

Absolutely awesome YELLOW pen!! Talk about YELLOW! This pen got the attention of my non-pen co-workers, and that is saying a lot! Love it! Not a fan of the stock refill, it's just too smooth with little feedback, so I swapped in a Pilot G2, in .05mm, which I like a lot better...not a drop in swap, you need a spacer to make it work, but that's easily cut from an old refill to size. I wish Lamy would make FINE...and EXTRA FINE refills for this pen! That yellow.....OMG!

The pen feels solid and it can be comfortable if you use a grip accommodated by the triangular grip section. Notably, the section is different than that of the Safari fountain pen. With the fountain pen, the bottom side is a smooth arc; with the rollerball pen, however, the three sides of the grip are identical. I'd prefer a cylindrical grip, but that's just not how LAMY makes (most) pens.I am not a fan of the M63 refill. I have had issues with skipping and I would prefer to have other options for refills. I have come up with a way to use Sarasa refills (which are otherwise too short) in lieu of the proprietary options: I cut off the tip of a plastic transfer pipette and put it in the end of the Sarasa refill that is open to the air. I cut the pipette a bit longer than it needs to be so that it holds the refill tightly in place. This completely prevents any rattling or movement of the tip of the pen and gives me a larger variety of sizes and colors to choose from.
This is not my first Lamy but my first Safari and it's an excellent little pen for the price. For anyone curious, the grip section is a hard plastic. It does force you to hold your fingers in a particular grip but I don't mind it and actually like it. The pen itself is made from a sturdy feeling plastic and has a very stiff wire clip. It comes with an ink cart in blue. I got this in extra fine (I usually always go medium or broad) and it works perfectly! Lots of feedback but it writes just like a ballpoint would (referring to the line size and ink dispersal), although it takes about 10 seconds for the ink to dry once it's on the page (this using the included Lamy cart in blue). At first I attempted to use a Sailor pigment cart but I couldn't get the safari to puncture it no matter how hard I tried and I didn't want to damage the nipple inside the Lamy. Overall, I'm very happy with this pen and I see why others collect them rabidly. I have already ordered the other new color way (and a few more bottles of the DL ink to match). As always, Goulet is excellent, hands down the best service available.
Bought this as a semi-impulse purchase because I couldn't resist the bright colors. This is only the second pen in my collection, I'm fairly new to fountain pens, but I've really been enjoying using it. It's comfortable and lightweight and easy to write with. Inspired by another review, I bought the appropriate converter and Jacques Herbin Diabolo Menthe ink along with it - it really is a perfect match!
This is a really good deal especially with the extra ink cartridges in the various colors.I have a few other Lamy Safari fountain pens and use them for drawing as well as writing -each in a different color and one that has water soluble ink in it instead of waterproof ink.I had requested the white Lamy Safari fountain pen with a fine nib, but what they sentactually has an extra fine nib. So I was surprised when I saw how thin the lines were. Not what I ordered, but I will keep it. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, a great pen set and a very good value. I think they need to change the description from "fine nib" to "extra fine nib" - which is indicated by ef on the nib itself.
The Lamy Safari speaks for itself, and its reputation precedes it, so I won't reinvent the wheel here. The pen itself is a five star all the way. But I am loving the special editions for 2024. I got the violet blackberry and ink gift set as soon as it was available, and I have truly enjoyed writing with these vibrant, mixed colors to look at. It sounds like such a simple thing, but it's true. Good job this year, Lamy!
I have been duped a couple of times with fake LAMY pens. The one that I received from Pen Boutique is completely real and an absolute dream to write with. My pen came in the original packaging and they even gave me a couple of jolly ranchers and a nice note. Pen Boutique is great and they will have my business whenever I need a special pen or collection item. Thanks Pen Boutique!
The matte texture and colour combo on this “Pink Cliff” special edition Safari pen are wonderful. When capped the colour is a low key blue/mauve, with a bright pink highlight in the cap filial. The same pinknis used with the section. This one has an all-matte texture - the other 2024 special edition has a smooth/matte mix; I prefer this one.
