I want to preface this review by saying I do not use lipstick in my day-to-day life but I still wanted to give today’s advent calendar gift a try. This Drama Matte lipstick from Lancôme comes to me in shade 274 French Tea - a gorgeous dusty rose with warm undertones. What I didn’t realize is that the lip balm would completely deactivate the powdery matte effect of the lipstick. The bold hue quickly took on a glossy finish after absorbing the lip balm from my lips. So, I wiped it off and started over - this time with completely bare lips. I would say that it is a testament to this product how I am able to use it successfully without any sort of lip primer beforehand. The formula here is composed of both hyaluronic acid and Grand Rose extract, so you know your lips will be kept hydrated and in good condition. I found that the pigment really did have the color payoff as promised, and the “one-swipe” application method to hold true thanks to the creamy rich texture. Do not be fooled by the soft, powdery finish of this lipstick - it will pack a powerful punch of color on your lips. Even for what looked like a muted shade, my lips were noticeably 2-3x more vibrant than the actual color I imagined when looking both at the product as well as the example images on the website. Personally, I would have enjoyed the more muted look, though I realize now that this product is really focused on powerful pigment. I think this is definitely a statement matte lipstick that can turn heads and get some attention. This was not my taste, but I am still giving 4 stars because of the impeccably smooth application and impressive skin hydrating qualities of the formula.

I recieved a color not available to select to review, in 143 ROUGE BADABOUM, so this is a review of that one. This lipstick is really beautiful. And even just patting it on lightly and rubbing my lips together left a beautiful color and finish. And applying it normally gives an even more vibrant color and smoothness. But the only thing is, if you accidently put too much on, it doesn't really dry off to where it doesn't come off when pressed against things like the back of my hand or on cups/bottles. So it can smudge if it doesn't dry fully. I also seem to have problems with generally any lipstick going on my teeth when I talk or smile, but since this one is so vibrant and colorful compared to other lipsticks, it shows up really well on my teeth, a lot. I really love the tube of this lipstick! Very unique and fun. A lot of bullet lipsticks don't snap shut very tightly and will come open if I throw them in my bag or pocket. I end up getting lipstick all over and destroying the lipstick and my bag. This lipsticks tube makes that impossible to happen. You push the little rose on the top for it to pop out of the bottom so there's no risk of it twisting open. After pushing the button I shook it a bit and it still didn't come out without me having to pull it out. So I'm pretty confident that even if something hit that button in my purse, it still wont unexpectedly come apart and make a mess. It's a very pigmented lipstick. It feels almost hydrating when you first apply and dried down slightly to a velvet finish that almost feel like nothing but at the same time still feels comforting to the lips. It’s light as air and I adore that. If I had to give any negative, it’s that there is a perfume, floral fragrance to it. It’s quite potent but after a few minutes I don’t smell it anymore, and I have a sensitive nose so that’s a good thing. But if anyone has ever smelled luxury lipsticks, they usually always have fragrance and this one is at least pleasant. All in all, I’m sold on this, and now need every color.

I've been a big fan of Lancôme's lipsticks since I was a young girl, and this one is the perfect example of how they balance their classic style and new innovations. The packaging is super cool and not something I've seen before - you just push down on the top button to open it, so it's easy to open with one hand and completely eliminates the possibility of the cap falling off in your purse and getting lipstick everywhere. I bet in a few years all brands will be using this type of packaging. The product itself is lovely as well. When I first saw the colour, I thought it wouldn't be flattering because it looked too orange/coral to suit my skin tone, but when I actually put it on, it looked great! I received a L'Absolu Rouge Intimatte lipstick in shade 505 Atrape Couer to test as part of being a member of the My Lancome Community. The colour is a lot more red in colour than I usually wear but this lipstick is perfect when applied. You can apply in a subtle finish or create a bolder look by simply applying more layers. When I have used matte lipsticks I have found them to be drying and caked but with Rouge Intimatte there is none of this. It goes on so smoothly and evenly and is incredibly soft. On contact lips feel soft and comfortable and there is no dry feeling at all. The colour lasts for ages and I have found that it does not transfer quickly when drinking. It is a striking gold colour and on the top of the case there is the classic Lancome rose which gives such a finishing touch. To use the refillable version is so easy as you just need to press the top of the lipstick case with the rose image and the lipstick barrel pops out slightly underneath. You simply pull it out and it is ready to use. The lipstick size is perfect for popping in your handbag for on the go touch ups when required. I think this is such a lovely quality lipstick and it gives such a striking look and it is the best matte effect lipstick I have used. I would like to congratulate Lancome on creating such a stunning lipstick and for thinking about climate change and the environment by adapting their products to be reusable and refillable. I would definitely recommend this lovely lipstick range.

This is a beautiful tube of lipstick. I was surprised at the weight of the tube itself, it seems very substantial and high end. The button at the end of the tube is pressed to pop up the tube of lipstick, and this is a nice design touch that adds to the classiness of this lipstick tube. The formula is very moisturizing. Most long-lasting lipsticks I have tried previously end up drying my lips out, but this lipstick leaves them feeling moisturized and softer than before! I am a person who licks my lips all the time, it is a bad habit, so this lipstick doesn’t last as long for me as it would for most people. It’s not too dark, and it’s not overly bright. It is a nice rosy shade that looks appropriate during daytime and for night as well. My lips don’t feel over done with this color. I have tried wearing lip gloss on top of this lipstick, and that is a lovely look as well. I would purchase this again, because it is a moisturizing and softening formula that leaves my lips feeling so smooth. And it lasts a long time before fading, which is a rare experience for me due to my bad habit of licking of my lips! It’s a beautiful lipstick and I would recommend it.
