I am a serum junkie I was so excited to give Lancôme Advanced Génifique Serum a try. Its main active ingredient is 10% Bifidus Prebiotic (aka 10 percent bifida ferment lysate.) Plus, it happens to be one of the brand’s top sellers. The serum’s main ingredient is actually what got my attention in the first place as I remember it from when I was doing many more steps- but I do remember I I was beyond impressed with its ability to rapidly fade hyperpigmentation marks and brighten my overall complexion — it was the first time people actually complimented me on my skin. As someone with well-behaved skin, for the most part, I’m still prone to dehydration, hyperpigmentation, and the occasional dull spell or congested pores. As someone with well-behaved skin, for the most part, I’m still prone to dehydration, hyperpigmentation, and the occasional dull spell or congested pores. Breakouts aren’t a major issue for me other than the occasional hormonal party crasher, which usually ends up leaving a dark spot on its way out, regardless of whether I pick or not. I’m not too fussy about retinol or Botox yet, I use both but not religiously. I am on a multi-step program in my skin-care routine. Double-cleansing, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen are always in the mix, but I’ll often go rogue with serums and treatments — I’m 44 trying to keep my skin looking great. Anyway, while in the midst of a meh skin spell, replete with tired-looking skin around my eyes, dull texture, and a couple of post-blemish marks taking their sweet time on the way out, I added the Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum to my morning and evening routine, tucked in between my toner and moisturizer steps. The self-loading dropper makes it easy to dose out each application. The serum itself feels like a silky liquid; it’s quite lightweight, spreads easily, and absorbs quickly — no sticky feeling afterward. I did notice that my skin did feel considerably more quenched right after applying it, though. My eye cream and moisturizer seemed to apply more easily on top of it. (Are serums actually a bit like primers for moisturizer? Perhaps.) After following this routine for a week — seven days, if you want to get specific — I noticed that my skin felt plumper and more hydrated, like it had gone on some wellness retreat without me, returning slightly changed and with a subtle glow up that spoke either of a life of extreme comfort or else a newly acquired secret. My skin suddenly had the smug confidence of someone with a winning hand in poker. I guess it only takes seven days for my skin to develop a superiority complex. If a sense of mystery is attractive in a woman, my skin is basically Carmen Sandiego after using this serum for one week. I understand why Lancôme offers so many size options for this serum on its website. There are five sizes to choose from, in varying price points — I can’t think of any other skin-care brands that would bother divvying up one product into five different size options. The smallest size at 0.67 ounces is $52. The largest size is 3.4 ounces, and that’s $178. So you’ve got options beyond wearing a rotating set of disguises to cop multiple free samples at the Lancôme counter.

I received this product for free from Influenster and Lancome in exchange for my honest review. I wanted to use this product for as long as possible before writing my review so I could really give it a chance before deciding how I felt about it. So I had to use it every other day or every two days to prevent irritation. I am also not very fond of fragrance/fragrant components in my skin care products. Some can be irritating to the skin or they just don't have a pleasant smell, but the smell of this product was pretty faint. Other than those two things the ingredients in this serum are pretty great, which is why I thought I would like it. I did find that it brightened my skin tone a bit, but that's all it did as far as benefits go, and for the price they are asking I feel like this product should do way more! There is no reason what so ever that this product should cost that much money. It's insane, and it's not the ingredients that cost that much... Bifida ferment lysate is big in K-Beauty and the products that use it are not this expensive. There is one serum I use that has almost all of the good ingredients this product has, and more. It has 88% Bifida Ferment Lysate as the first ingredient on the list, compared to the 10% the Lancome serum has, as the second ingredienton the list, after water (ingredients go from highest % first to lowest % last) plus the other serum has other fermented probiotic ingds. It also has no drying alcohols and no fragrances. It also has copper tripeptide 1, acetyl hexapeptide-8 and other peptides, and a lot of other beneficial and hydrating ingredients. The formulation, texture and the way it goes on and sinks into your skin is much better than the Lancome serum, and the 50ml bottle costs only $18-$25 depending where you buy it. I have seen much better results without the irritation for a fraction of the price of this serum. All that said, I will finish the bottle because I don't like to waste products, but I will not purchase this in the future. If you like this serum and can afford it then great, but if you can't afford it and feel like you are missing out, don't! I suggest you look into some k-beauty products from brands like Isntree, Manyo, Rovectin and many others on the StyleKorean or Stylevana websites... The k-beauty products are amazing quality and the pricing is even better!

But I got a few of the tiny 5 ml sample tubes a few months ago and gave it a try. I put one product on one side and the other contender on the other side and then followed with my usual moisturiser on most nights. Results. I didn't exactly expect Genifique to do as well as it did, but surprisingly, it easily outperformed both the Estee Lauder and the Shiseido product from the first night. Against Biotherm, also a bit surprised, Lancome faired well, but Biotherm's version won by a bit. Short summary: I couldn't tell if Shiseido Ultimune actually did anything, good or bad, a couple of weeks on my skin, it didn't do anything for me, so it's kinda a WTF? product for me. Estee Lauder ANR Multi-Recovery is less moisturizing, less brightening/evening out and overall, a lesser product (and I also yearn for the ANR formulas from the 90s and early 00s, over the past 20 years the ANR range seems to have gotten weaker and less impressive somehow.). Biotherm and Lancome won because they both not only plump my skin well and make my pores look less obvious by plumping skin, they are both so effective as lightweight moisturisers that on the hotter summer nights I could just use either and not need anything over them. If I try that with Estee Lauder ANR - it's not enough, skin feels tight and thirsty. That Lancome/Biotherm drench skin in moisture goes without saying. Both Lancome and Biotherm also do seem to provide greater ''ferment benefits'' than ANR, over slightly longer use, they all three soothe and make skin more resilient against outside forces like wind, sun or even drying cleansers and skin ends up getting red less easily, but the L'Oreal version of the Bifida ferment seems superior to the substance or method Estee Lauder uses. Genifique doesn't seem to contribute to clogged pores or breakouts for me, same for Life Plankton. For daytime use, they are quite thin-textured, so Shiseido, Lancome and Biotherm all did not contribute to greasy/oil appearance under my usual sunscreens. Estee Lauder is too greasy for that, at least for my skin. They all provide some antioxidant properties, but it's really not their strong suit, none are anywhere close to more dedicated antioxidant products like Replenix green tea products or ascorbic acid products like Skinceuticals, so if anyone is relying on any of these products as their sole topical antioxidant - I'd probably rethink that choice; there are more options out there that provide more useful antioxidants (contrary to cosmetic marketing, antioxidants aren't even necessary, but if someone wants to invest 100€+ in a product that has antioxidant claims - it makes more sense for it to be a top-of-the-line option and not some mid-tier slacker). I also don't think any of these products or the Genifique, in particular, deserves a warm-hearted recommendation or should be considered ''essential'', they are just nice moisturisers with the added bonus of some mid-tier antioxidants and ferment(s). Nothing wrong with any of that, but nothing in there makes them ''must have'' at least not in a way things like cleansers or sunscreens are the ''essential'' backbone in any sensible routine.

I took two photos (Day 1 and Day 18) so that users could make their own judgements in addition to my own personal opinion. The Before picture is me wearing the red shirt.. First off the packaging is very expensive looking and the applicator with the push dispenser is amazing. Every time you close the bottle the applicator draws up more serum. I just assumed in the beginning that was the correct amount to apply for was each use. I was wrong. You only need about a dime sized amount for each application. I spent the first 2 days with a very tacky face before it dawned on me that I was using too much product. Initially I was concerned about this product containing a Vitamin C derivative. Prior to this use, I was using Biossance Rose Moisturizer which contains Vitamin C and after some research I thought I had linked at ingredient to the reason why my makeup would flake off easily. Once I discontinued that product my makeup laid down seamlessly and flawlessly. This product was the opposite of that. With the addition of the Lancôme Advanced Génifique Serum, my makeup appearance improved. While my initial makeup application always looked great, after 8-10 hours, my foundation would always flake and look patchy around my skin and nose. This serum prevented that from happening. While using this product, I stopped using other treatment products and only used a moisturizer with this serum so that I wouldn’t skew any results or mix products that would affect the outcome of this serum. This serum claims that it tightens the look of skin, while visibly reducing fine lines for a healthy and more radiant skin in just 7 days. After 18 days of usage, I think my skin looks overall hydrated and as previously stated it made my makeup look better and last longer. I haven’t seen any markedly improved results regarding fine lines. I have quite a bit of acne scarring on my chin, and didn’t see any improvement there (not that I thought this serum could reverse scarring—but worth mentioning). Overall, I really do like this serum. Influenster gave me a 100ml bottle (worth $134!!) and I plan on continuing using it until it’s gone. Honestly, due to the improved appearance of my makeup, I most likely will repurchase this product even though the price point is a little higher than most serums.

First things first..as someone in their mid-thirties, finding effective anti-aging skincare is a priority for me. I first began my serious skincare journey about three years ago and have tried many things I liked that became staples in my routine, and other items that weren't effective for me whatsoever. I knew the odds would be about 50/50 before trying this product. The first thing that I noticed about this product was the applicator. Yes, it's a glass dropper like many others, but this one does something unique. When you twist the lid off, you will notice the signature Lancome emblem on the top of the lid, rising up and the dropper is already full. It dispenses the product for you without the need to squeeze the dropper and potentially introduce air into the bottle. When you are finished and you twist the lid back on, you will see the emblem lowering, thus filling the dropper for the next use. I have never come across such a brilliant dispensing method. The bottle that the serum comes in has that heavy, luxurious feel, and the smoky black/gray blending of the bottle color is aesthetically pleasing to me. The serum itself has a light consistency but it isn't overly runny. Furthermore, there's no overpowering smell and the product sinks into my skin quickly without feeling sticky. This is important to me as I believe it's more effective for a serum to sink into my skin quickly rather than just sitting on top. After three weeks of using this serum both morning and night, I am amazed at the results. Not only does my skin appear brighter and my lines less noticeable, but my skin looks hydrated and almost bouncy. Prior to incorporating this serum into my routine, my skin had the tendency to look tired and dull regardless of any exfoliation and moisturization efforts. I cannot imagine NOT using this serum at this point as I feel more beautiful and confident in my skin. While the price point might seem a bit steep ($132 on Sephora), I believe it is absolutely worth the cost as a little goes a long way. The amount that is dispensed is enough to adequately cover my face, my neck, and even a little of my decollete! If you can, make the splurge and work this into your skincare routine. You won't regret it.
Alas, the grand finale of my Lancôme advent calendar came hidden within the Eiffel Tower - the undeniable star of the show, Génifique serum! I have reviewed the deluxe sample previously, however enjoying the benefits of the patented self-loading dropper is an entirely elevated experience. The dropper automatically loads with the perfect amount of serum for one application upon unscrewing of the cap. Depressing the top button unloads the serum into your hands, and takes away the guess work of knowing the right amount to dispense. I personally like to apply the dropper directly to my face, so that I know my facial skin is absorbing every last drop. There is so much good in this formulation - ingredients curated to strengthen and repair your skin barrier for optimized skin radiance, glow, and hydration. The vitamin C here is in a stabilized Cg form, translating all of the antioxidant and brightening benefits of Vitamin C into a stabilized skincare ingredient. Of course, there is hyaluronic acid to aid the skin barrier in retaining moisture and slowing transepidermal water loss. Lastly, and perhaps what makes this serum so effective, is the 10% Bifidus Prebiotic which creates a healthy environment for the skin’s “good” bacteria. I believe it is the Bifidus Prebiotic in Advanced Génifique that is responsible for the undeniable “glow” response I perceive after application. By the next day, there is a visible shift in the radiance of my skin that I attribute to the prebiotic benefits of this barrier boosting gem. Besides being incredibly fun to apply, I find the texture and consistency to be extremely amicable to the natural chemistry of my skin - quickly absorbing and enhancing my skin with a youthful suppleness. My skin has never looked so alive after adding this serum to my skincare regimen!
The Lancome Advanced Genifique Serum is an excellent face serum. I wouldn't say that it has any particular targets other than blurring fine lines on your face and giving you more radiant skin by almost brightening it from below the outer surface. I really liked this serum for a couple of reasons. First, the bottle design is just ingenious. I love how the dropper allows me to dispense the perfect amount onto my skin, though you could opt to use less since the serum is very spreadable. I also like how it locks when you twist the bottle closed. Next is the serum itself. It has a light floral, powdery scent, which I do not mind and actually find to be quite soothing, especially when I apply it in the morning. However, though it is not strong, it might bother some people ... MoreThe Lancome Advanced Genifique Serum is an excellent face serum. I also like how it locks when you twist the bottle closed. Next is the serum itself. It has a light floral, powdery scent, which I do not mind and actually find to be quite soothing, especially when I apply it in the morning. However, though it is not strong, it might bother some people if you are sensitive to scented skincare products. I also really like the consistency because it is not oily and actually feels a little more like a gel, which I like. I don't enjoy putting greasy stuff on my face, so I was glad to see that this product wasn't greasy at all. As I mentioned earlier, it is very spreadable, so if you want to use less than what the dropper picks up, you can. The only minor issue was that some of the results of this serum were not visible. My skin definitely became softer and more plump after using this serum for a few weeks, but I didn't find much change in my fine lines. However, it would definitely be added to my main skincare routine in the winter since it is quite hard to find non-oily or greasy serums that can properly moisturize my skin. One bottle of this serum is quite pricey, but you can choose to use only a small amount each time, so I can see this bottle lasting someone for quite some time. Give it a try!

For reference, I'm turning 34 this month and am of the normal-dry skin type, which used to be dry-very dry before becoming an avid skincare enthusiast. I was very excited to try this product, and as soon as I received the "you're in" notification, I jumped onto Lancôme's website to look at the ingredients...and to my surprise, denatured alcohol was the 4th ingredient on the list. Now, I believe the star ingredients in this formula are bifida ferment lysate and glycerin, and that the denat. alcohol acts as the vehicle to transport these ingredients into the deeper skin layers. And the reason I think you can see fairly quick results is because denat. alcohol does indeed do an excellent job with delivering, however I'm very skeptical about the percentage of denat. alcohol in this (we don't really know) and if it will have negative long-term effects on my skin. Lancôme has marketed this serum toward people with dry skin types and fine lines, as well as people looking for skin barrier support...which is all kind of contrary to what we know denat. alcohol does. So I'm not going to lie to you, I am a little worried. As it follows, I truly thought I would immediately be dealing with dry skin and a disrupted skin barrier, however I was pleasantly surprised when after 1 week I did see a reduction in my fine lines, I have not seen a negative effect to my skin barrier, or any cause of irritation for that matter. It left my skin feeling hydrated and semi-glowy without being greasy looking or feeling too tacky. But I cannot for the life of me give this serum a perfect score because I know what some of these ingredients can do long-term, and I worry a little about what will happen when I stop using this serum. So I'm torn, as there are clear-cut positives and negatives with this product. I will continue to use this serum alongside my other products and will update this review if I find any changes to my current reults. My overall thoughts are that this is a good serum, I very much enjoy its consistency and the application experience, the packaging is beautiful and I love that it is in a dark, heavy glass bottle (prevents the serum from breaking down due to environemental exposures). I also like that the dropper picks up and dispenses the correct amount so that I'm not applying more than necessary (1 pump for face and 1 pump for neck and décolleté). The formula doesn't irritate my skin despite the denat. alcohol and minimal fragrance (I believe it is just a masking fragrance as it doesn't have a defining scent), I have seen quite positive results in the short-term (I've been using it for about 2 weeks), and as a result of using this serum it has greatly peaked my interest with regards to the ingredient bifida ferment lysate. I am 100% going to look for that ingredient in a future skincare purchase, but one that has a different delivery system. I hope more than anything that Lancôme updates their some-what dated formulas, for this product and any of their other formulas that contain dent. alcohol high up on the ingredients list. I think they have good direction with this product, but I think it can be better executed, and I hope to some day see a reformulation of this product as I believe they can figure out how to make it even better, both for the short-term and long-term benefits and without the potentially harmful drawbacks. Given the myriad of advances that have been made in the skincare industry over the last decade and with skincare consumers becoming more educated than ever, I hope that Lancôme takes these changes as their cue to come out with higher quality formulations that are worth the luxury price tag. If you are reading this lengthy review, you can probably tell that I am one of those people that has educated myself on ingredients and has created a passion for skincare. Over the last decade I have transformed my skin, and it is now better in my mid 30s than it was in my mid 20s and it's exclusively due to choosing to be a student of skincare. So I encourage you to do the same if you want to see those changes in your own skin. I will absolutely repurchase this serum IF Lancôme reformulates this product, and I will look into their other skincare product lines to see what other formulations they've created. *I received this product from Influenster and Lancôme free for testing purposes. My opinions are my own based on my experience with testing this product and knowledge of its ingredients.
While shopping at Macy’s in Boise in 2009, I discovered Lancome’s Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate. I had just moved from Georgia to Montana and just became a licensed esthetician at the time. I was drawn to Lancome’s impressive color cosmetics, as I used them a lot while I lived in Georgia. Intrigued by the brand's skin care products, I decided to try the Advanced Génifique serum as I had only sampled a few skin care items from the brand before. At 28, I tried this Génifique concentrate for the first time and loved it, but found the fragrance a bit overpowering. As I learned, fragrant French skincare is the norm. At 28, I tried this Génifique concentrate for the first time and loved it, but found the fragrance a bit overpowering. As I learned, fragrant French skincare is the norm. By my 30s, I grew to appreciate the serum's benefits and the scent began to sort of grow on me. Now in my early 40s, I understand why this Génifique serum is a holy grail in the world of skin care. This serum strengthens the skin's acid mantle in one drop, improving the natural moisture barrier in the process. It also works to lock in hydration and defend against environmental aggressors like pollution, bad weather, and toxins, as well as, DNA distresses. Infused with a Bifidus Prebiotic, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin Cg, this anti-aging serum deeply nourishes the skin, improves dullness, and visibly reduces signs of aging for a glowing complexion. The powerful hydrating properties of the Advanced Génifique serum visibly improves elasticity and fine lines caused by dehydration, which can and will eventually deepen into fine lines and wrinkles. The serum effectively yet efficiently hydrates, plumps, and evens skin tone, rejuvenating the complexion for a more youthful appearance. Although I didn't see results after one week, I noticed significant improvements after one month of using the serum in combination with a healthy skincare regimen and a healthy diet. This powerful concentrate works wonders in correcting, repairing, and protecting the skin, while improving its overall quality without the need for needles or drugs, and without any risks. This product may not be considered "clean" or "organic," nor is it a natural formulation. However, despite this fact, it is indeed powerful and effective. If you are searching for a clean serum, sadly you won’t find this one of interest. Despite not being a natural product, I would highly recommend this serum to anyone who wants to use an amazing anti-aging serum based on its efficacy alone. Additionally, I would also use it again.
