Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara - Excessive Black

I’ve used this product for over a decade, it’s the absolute best! Every time I get curious and try a different mascara I regret it and immediately go back to hypnose drama. Yes, it’s clumpy - but that’s what I love about it. It makes lashes look so long and thick people ask if I have extensions on. Keep in mind a new bottle takes a few days to thicken up so the first few times you use it you’ll need to be patient and let it dry a little between coats. It also does dry out quickly, especially if you use it daily - I religiously replace mine every 4 weeks. It lasts longer if you’re careful to screw the lid on tightly after every use. If you dont like clumpy mascara this one isn’t for you.

I bought the travel size of this mascara to try it out and because I switch around to different mascaras often. My current favorite is the Lancôme lengthening and curling one (the black and pink tube, can’t remember the name) but I wanted more volume with it. I bought this one specifically to try underneath the black and pink tube one and it worked exactly how I wanted it to! It did look great on its own but using both gave me just the amount of volume and lengthening AND lift that I wanted! I do have my lashes lifted in the pic but these mascaras do offer a bit more of a lift for me. I will also mention that Lancôme mascaras are so easy to remove but don’t flake or transfer or anything bad, while on. My absolute favorite brand for mascara now. I received this mascara free from Influenster in exchange for my honest review, and I will not be repurchasing it. While the bottle is very pretty and sleek looking, the product itself did not perform well on my lashes. The formula is very heavy, and I found the brush did not distribute it evenly on my lashes. The fibres in the formula ended up flaking off everywhere after only a couple hours of wear, and my lashes felt weighed down and looked messy and clumped together. Perhaps this mascara works for other people, but I definitely am not a fan - especially not for the price.

Not a bit of false advertisement here. I naturally have longer lashes but I find that because they are lighter, volume is something I lack. The packaging claims to provide this for 24 hours....and it does not lie. I tried this at 11pm and accidentally fell asleep with it on (I KNOW! The esthetician in me gave me hell) and it did not budge. It did not flake, no raccoon eyes..I was amazed. I used the L'ancome vitamin mascara base on one eye and just the mascara on the other and did notice a difference. As I mentioned, I have longer lashes naturally and while some are looking for that length boost, too much makes my lashes look like spider legs. The combination of both products did that to me unfortunately. I will still use the product base for other mascaras that may ... MoreNot a bit of false advertisement here. I don’t know if it’s just me but I was so disappointed with this mascara. My favorite makeup is mascara so I was so excited to try this… and it did NOTHING to my lashes. There was no volume, length or fullness. I thought maybe it’s buildable do I did add a few coats and still nothing. I would never pay this much for a mascara and have it not do anything. I’ve used products less then half the price of this and have loved them, so this can show you just because price doesn’t mean cheaper products are worse. I would and will not be using this product again. It’s probably good for someone who like a very natural lash.

Best mascara. Used >17 yrs. But don't buy Le 8!

I am a very loyal Hypnose customer and have been buying it around 18 years. I love the volume, the staying power and the way the non waterproof version is highly water resistant, but after 5 min in the shower, it will come off easily with water, not breaking lashes. I recently asked for Hypose and was given Le 8 Hypnose - I didn't know there were two. Le 8 is the opposite of Drama - Impossible to get the same volume even with several applications. Lasts half a day at best and the tiniest bit of moisture will eliminate it completely. Don't make the same mistake. I'm dreading that Lancome might be discontinuing Hypnose Drama in favor of Le 8 Hypnose. If so, say goodbye to this long time, loyal Lancome customer.

Horrible Mascara - Bad Customer Service

I have used Lancome products for years and spent a lot of money on them. I am a huge fan of the foundations, the Genifique and other skin care products and especially the Definicils mascara, which I have used almost exclusively for many years. This is the first time I have used this product - Hypnose Drama, which I purchased from Lancome.com, and it is just awful. Clumpy, thick, difficult to apply, leaves balls of mascara at my lash line that literally float right into my eye, then I have to dig them out and start all over with makeup, shadow and mascara on the same eye. Who has time for this when getting ready for work at 6am? It also flakes off both immediately and throughout the day. I took the time to go on Chat to ask an agent if they could send me to some reference materials (like video or tips and tricks) to using this mascara. 'Justin' took nearly a half hour to get back to me and only sent me a link to the product page on lancome.com. He informed me there is no way to exchange this product, even if I received and old or 'bad' batch. and that I must return it at my expense if I want a refund. Very, very disappointed in Lancome's customer service and this product. Do NOT buy this mascara, total waste of money and time, plus a lot of daily frustration. This experience makes me re-think my entire relationship with Lancome and I will start looking at other high end products and stop using theirs.

Lancôme needs to add a wiper

As someone who has been in the cosmetics industry ( formulator) , I will say that this could be a nice mascara, but… the package is wrong. The amount that ends up on the wand is way too much. I wipe the excess off back into the tube, but if I am not really careful, I still get excess and then major clumping on my lashes. Solution? Lancôme just needs to add a wiper to this product which will take off the excess when taking the wand out of the tube. I tried this one when it first came out and didn’t buy for a few years. After trying again, I’m done with this one .

My Favorite Mascara

Lancôme Hypnôse Drama is my favorite mascara...when the tube is brand new. Unfortunately it does not last nearly long enough for what it costs. As it starts to dry out, it starts clumping when I apply it and I have to comb through my lashes quickly before it dries. And then it starts flaking all over my face throughout the day. I'm very careful to wipe the top of the tube after each application and close it tightly but it doesn't really help extend the life of the mascara. It's expensive so I never purchase it unless I can get it on sale. When it's fresh and new, it makes my lashes long and full. I get lots of compliments. I just think Lancôme should do a better job of making the mascara last longer than a month.
