When I first started using this product it felt like a god-sent skincare miracle! My complexion got more radiant with consistent usage. I cannot rave enough about this product. It has become part of my every day routine! It is gentle on the skin, hydrating, and long lasting. My boyfriend tried it and loves it as well, so much that he is buying it for himself. I paired this with the Laneige water bank and it keeps my skin hydrated, refreshed, and happy. I love this product. Seriously one of the best serums I've tried. It moisturizes a lot from the first day, the texture is brutal, it spreads very well and with a very little amount it works for the whole face (I only use a pompom). Plus it has an irresistible scent. I have given it to several people of different ages and genders (and skin types) and they all agree with me that they love it. I have been using it for a little over a week and my skin has improved a lot. It was somewhat dry, dull and irritated by the cold and now it is smooth and bright. I use it in the morning and at night and it's not heavy at all, it gives you hydration, but you don't even notice that you're wearing it. In addition, the packaging could not be more beautiful.

Thicker than most essences but still quite lightweight and watery when you spread it. Absorbs completely in a few minutes leaving a dewy moisturised finish. It doesn’t feel thick or heavy and you only notice it when you touch your face. When you look at your skin it does have a more moist and dewy appearance. I generally prefer to apply this at night because in the morning I have less time to wait for it to absorb before I move on to my moisturiser and makeup. I think this is suitable for all skin types as Laneige says. If you have a very minimal skincare routine, oily/combination people could definitely use this both morning and night. I think it provides enough hydration to work alone without a moisturiser over it. (I sometimes apply makeup straight on top of this). Those with dry skin would definitely also benefit from this in conjunction with other moisturising products like the Water Bank Moisture Cream. It wouldn’t be enough alone because it absorbs fairly quick and isn’t occlusive. Overall, it’s a nice simple product if you’re looking to add moisture back into your skin. I probably won’t repurchase this only because I like my products to have more multi-functional purposes and dry skin isn’t a concern for me right now but perhaps somewhere down the line when my skin matures I may find myself more in need of the Water Bank line.

It conquers dry skin and when part of a routine, it does an amazing job...But if you have combination skin, this essence may have a pesky problem with making your problem areas worse. In the midst of winter, my skin is chapped and painful. So I've been using this with great results. No really, this stuff works...Except I have giant zits on my chin and they develop in less than three hours of application. That seems impossible but it's always this product. Unfortunately I know it's this essence and not another product because it keeps doing this. My skin isn't purging because my cheeks love the stuff, but get it on my nose and chin? I'd hesitate if your combination skin likes to show it's combination side by giving you an immediate bouquet of zits if you do things like scratching your chin. If this is how your face reacts, rethink this product and go for something with hydration but more on the drying side.Combination skin sucks and I hate to rate a product that clearly does work so low, but stay away if your combination skin is that reactive. It does work, but maybe that labeling needs to be a little more specific.

New formula sits on top of skin and irritates it!

I have been using the Water Bank Hydro Essence, back when it had its old packaging and formula. The older formula worked amazingly on my dry/dehydrated skin: it was thin but hydrating, almost milky visually but very moisturizing. It would leave a mild sticky feeling to the cheeks before absorbing in beautifully, and it would leave my skin feeling bouncy and glowy. It also sank right into my skin; you could feel it being absorbed at once. It was my first step after cleansing with the Tatcha cleanser, and it came right before my face cream step. I made the mistake of thinking it was the same as the old formula and ordered it without hesitation. This essence is nowhere near as amazing as the old one. I hope they bring the old formula back, because the price point was great for the quality! But not anymore.

I’ve been wanting to give their skincare a try. When I received this in the mail I was so excited. I opened it up and the packaging is incredibly luxurious feeling. It’s heavy and built nicely. It definitely feels nice and not cheap. I pumped it out into the back of my hand and it comes out quite watery. Almost like a creamy serum. Or if you took some butter and let it melt on your hand. A little goes a very long way. It smells clean and almost generic, like jergins lotion or something similar. As I got into the packaging and was reading the ingredients I found that it has 2 types of silicones pretty high up on the ingredient list. Now for me this is a big red flag, I tend to avoid silicone in my skincare because it will prevent anything you put on after it from sinking into the skin. Seeing how this is an essence it doesn’t make sense to me to even have silicone in it because you use an essence to prep your skin for the next step in your routine. If I used this it would basically be a waste of any product I put on after it because they would not be able to penetrate the silicone layer. If you have a multi step skin routine I would avoid this, however if you are a basic wash and moisturize kind of person this could work for you as it would help to prevent pollutants from getting into your skin. I’m pretty bummed that it had to be a no go for me because other than silicone it has some pretty nice ingredients

Use only if you want acne and terrible skin

This stuff is horrible. I used it for two days and my entire chin broke out. I normally get some hormonal acne on my chin each month, but this acne was different. Smaller and tons of whiteheads, I could tell I was having a reaction to this product since it was different from my normal acne. Also, I got red spots on my cheeks and by my eyes and normally my skin is completely clear in those areas. I came online to look at reviews and saw multiple other people broke out from this. Luckily I figured it out quickly that it was from this product. My skin cleared up once I stopped using it.

I’ve gotten this product for the fourth time in about two years, and up until recently I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an incredible product. However with my most recent purchase it seemed more watery to me than a lightweight gel. It is no longer moisturizing and hydrating my skin like it used to. It’s most likely no the product itself, but rather than my skin has finally become accustomed to the product. But after about two years of using it, I will say this is an incredible product to add into your skincare routine. It has a pleasant scent to it, it’s perfect to hydrate and moisturizer your skin before serums, and it absorbs into skin without feeling sticky, thick or greasy.
