I love that this lens has zero distortion. I can be close to my foreground (such as trees) while keeping my stars as sharp pinpoints, sharp foreground, and plenty of aurora in the background. I have tried a few other alternative wide-angle lenses for aurora and so far this is my favorite. I also like that I will be able to travel with this lens (lighter and less bulky) and use it for landscape, architecture, sunsets/sunrises and other astro options.

I rented this lens for Milky Way shots while backpacking in Glacier National Park. The lens worked great and the service from Lenrentals was perfect.

Just remember it is manual focus. Needed to figure out why the camera would not take the picture. Took good pictures. Rented for Astrophography, but didn’t get to use it for that. Worked well in the national parks.

Bought primarily for Astro but have used it several time for close ups with the dog and some nighttime mood shoots. Very sharp at 2.8 and above. The lens in nice and light. There is some coma around the edges, but minimal. The lens produces nice color punch.
Great lens for a trip I had planned to photograph the Milky Way. Lens worked great and produced some amazing pictures. Customer support was very helpful and provided quick responses
Sharp; for horizontal shots little barrel distortion compared to fish eye. More Vignetting than I had hoped for.I warmed up to the manual focus and aperture control.Overall a good choice for a fast wide field lens
I bought this lens for astrophotography. On the first use I was able to capture detail on a full moon. (Yes, zoomed in). It is solidly made with metal barrel and well marked settings. I have also used for landscape shots with great results. I feel it is superior to other third market lenses I have owned.
Took it backpacking for astrophotography. Size and weight were great option for the long hikes. Performs well once you get the hang of manual settings. Not razor sharp, but does really well for f2, and field of view is expansive at 15mm. Practice some before you need to use it and you’ll be happy with results.
I highly recommend this lens. The image quality is superb. Although not completely zero distortion, it is very close. I feel like I’m using a 35mm. The build quality is also very nice. On my R5, images are sharp edge to edge and resolve beautifully even on the high resolution sensor.I’ve owned (and sold) the ef 17-40 L and ef 16-35 L. Both were underwhelming in my opinion despite solid reviews. This lens takes superior quality images to either that easily compensate for the lack of zoom. It is small and light, so it’s very easy to pack along. The close focus distance also allows for so many more creative opportunities. The lens shade does move around easily; gaffers tape fixed that problem easily. The lack of weather sealing is a bummer, but not a deal breaker. ... MoreI highly recommend this lens. The image quality is superb. Although not completely zero distortion, it is very close. The lack of weather sealing is a bummer, but not a deal breaker. The image quality makes it worth it. Auto-focus would be fun, but the R system makes manual focus much easier than it used to be. Then again, no AF makes this a very small and light lens.I can confidently recommend this to any photographer. The price easily matches the quality. I like it so much, I’m considering other Laowa lenses now.
This lens was exactly what I was hoping to find. I was having trouble finding something similar in other companies, and were also much more $$. This Venus lens is not super big or bulky, and is very sleek and sexy. I used it to take landscape photos, videos, Milkyway and starry sky stills, and time lapses. I was very pleased with the results. Would highly recommend this lens. I was also extremely happy with B&H, they provide excellent customer service.
