I love my other Laowa lenses. I thought this would replace my Canon 24mm tilt-shift since I never use the tilt, I thought it would be great. But I frankly was shocked with how bad the focus is. Simple unusable images. I tried again comparing the same shot on both lenses and did a side by side comparison with focus checked and everything lined up. It was clear - either this lens copy is messed up or Laowa really missed it on this lens. I could never trust it in my professional work. :(Two stars for build quality and ease of use. But no use, it isn't sharp like it's cousins.

I do emphasise heavily using the lens for landscapes & panoramas but a shift lens also once was used for single frame architecture keeping buildings 'straight'.Considering current software controls that allow such straightening, is there any reason to spend this much money for a shift lens other than using it for Landscape & panoramasLarge sensors and lenses with better corners used with AI image improvement might make expensive mechanical answers to the problem less important today.A real added value to each Fuji GFX usersSo long Fuji will develop in the time frame of 2023 a Shift lens you can perform at present time to score with High ranking results in as Architectural and Landscape results

So haven't had a chance to put the lens through a rigorous set of images ( it arrived while I was on a shoot for one of the new US National Monuments) . The lens is very sharp even when viewed at 800% taken on a Fujifilm GFX100. The lens does let the user use all 102MP effectively. The biggest issue is while the specs state 8mm of shift on the Fujifilm GFX100, I found less than that in real world use, with more like 5-7mm. I also find that unless the hood is precisely positioned the edges of the lens hood toIntrude on the image even with 0mm shift.

Just like the 15mm shift zero-d, this one is also soft, except it's less prone to flaring. It also lacks contrast a little bit. I'm using it on GFX100S and please mind that on live view it's so soft that you are not sure did you focus properly when you zoom-in with focus magnifier, however the file is not as soft as the preview.Cons aside, this is the only glass of this kind, and covers the GFX sensor perfectly even when fully shifted 11mm in any direction. There is no standard wide-angle lens that can give you freedom in architecture as a shift-lens. Please ignore the comments like you can fix perspective in software today, when someone tells you that, just laugh, because it's nonsense. The build quality is excellent, focus ring is super-smooth and the aperture ... MoreJust like the 15mm shift zero-d, this one is also soft, except it's less prone to flaring. Shifting mechanism is also well made and smooth.
I started with a different brand 24mm Tilt/Shift lens from B&H for my A7RIV. That lens had a bad vignetting, even with no correction. Second lens same problem. So I went for this Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift Lens for my SONY. I took it out for test shots right away. VERY PLEASED with this lens. The lens wide open is a bit on the soft side, but I will be using this lens in the f8-f16 range and at these apertures, the lens performs beautifully. The build quality is very good, all metal from what I can tell. The shift adjustment is MUCH NICER than the OTHER BRAND 24mm T/S lens that I had initially. The SHIFT lock is very nice and the shift adjustment is smooth and well made. Very sharp lens when stopped down to f8-11 which is where most would use it. I was pleasantly surprised at how sharp it is all the way out the the edges when shifted.I used it for architecture and to stitch panos.. Love this lens..
A pretty nice ultra-wide shift lens for the GFX system. Though it lacks the acute sharpness of the Fujifil primes, it is decently sharp and remains so pretty far from the center. Movements are somewhat limited probably - 6-8mm due to a falloff in sharpness and vignetting, but there is enough room to make shift useful. For panoramas, i would add a slider to the tripod head if you want a lot of coverage. The shift mechanism works very smoothly. Construction is robust and of high quality. The hood is virtually useless as it tends to cause mechanical vignetting. Better to leave it off. .the coating is pretty good, as I haven't detected an inordinate amount of artifacts nor veiling haze. Bokeh is not bad for an ultra wide. - kind of granular, like granola,, but not ... MoreA pretty nice ultra-wide shift lens for the GFX system. I am an architectural and interior photographer. This lens fills a price and quality niche that the big name companies have not addressed. Sure it is a completely mechanical lens, but coming from a view camera background this is not a problem for me. My only minor complaint(s) are...I would like Laowa to publish an unshifted lens profile for this optic and to have aperture markings on the opposite side of the lens, you could see when the lens is rotated 180 degrees. Otherwise a nice addition to my gear and I would not hesitate recommending this lens for professional use.
Really like this lens!Got it a couple weeks ago and I'm really enjoying it.Metal construction, fells really solid. All the adjustment rings are smooth and I have no problem getting images in focus.Just an advise! My filter holder didn't fit this lens (NiSi V7 100mm filter holder) so I had to buy circular filters for it.
This lens met my expectations for a general-use shift lens. It is solidly built and nails all the things you'd seek in a landscape lens, shooting raw: sharp images at f5.6, no distortion, and a precise and satisfying focus throw. The colors are ever so slightly muted, but accurate, so it is much easier to correct for in post, compared to distortion in the image, which also robs you of effective focal length.
