Laphroaig 10 Year Old is perhaps one of, if not the quintissential Islay malts. And as with any bottling, this is only amplified at cask strength. Matured fully in ex-Bourbon, what you get is a crystalisation of the distillery character, amped up to an incredible clarity over the standard 10YO. This bottling is the latest release, Batch 16, bottled in December 2022. Bottled at 58.5%.

We love to have a special malt whisky in for treats and special occasions so were looking forward to trying this. I love the peaty, earthy smoked finish to your palate with Laphroig. The ex-bourbon barrels was is aged in give it a real oaky linger too. I like to add a drop of water to mine to bring out the flavour for a cosy evening treat.

Laphroaig 10 Year Old is a truly extraordinary adventure on which Scottish island distillers will take you. The longer you taste, the more colors you will discover. A bit of vanilla, pepper, salt, sweetness, a bit of spice, this is just the beginning of the journey. Definitely an unobvious taste. It's like a walking trail led by the Laphroaig distillers. Extremely exciting and interesting. Maybe not for everyone, but it will certainly satisfy every gourmet of a good, strong and expressive drink.Definitely a drink worth recommending.

I was excited to try this for the first time I regularly drink whisky and bourbons . On opening there was a lovely oaky aroma I tried it neat at first and it was lovely smooth oaky smoked flavour warmed me in a lovely way inside I then tried it with coke and it was nice but theoakiness was a bit strong for my pallette. I would of preferred a a subtle aftertaste.. enjoyable as one drink couldn't have a lot in one go . Tastes smooth and good quality. I then
when i first tried this whiskey i was suprised to see it was visibly like a Medium caramel colour in the glass, very attractive indeed. I lifted my glass to my nose and could easily smell an array of smokey scents, which reminded me of a damp peat smell. I instantly thought wow this is special. I stopped there for a minute enjoying the aroma. Taking a small sip of the Laphroaig 10 Year Old, on the palate my first impression it was sweet but with a small hint of salt. There were a few different things i could taste ' barley, sweet oak and peat. I was in heaven! It certainly left an impression. A simple , pure classic whiskey.
I really enjoyed this drink! It isn't something I would usually buy, as it's quite expensive, however it's a lovely treat and would be a nice drink for a special occasion. I drank the drink neat, over nice, and that was my preferred way of drinking it. I also drank it neat, without ice, and that still tasted lovely. I just like my drinks on the rocks! It's quite a strong drink, what I would describe as a masculine drink. Being a woman in my thirties, I would feel a little out of place ordering this drink in a bar, however I would feel comfortable drinking it at home by myself. It would be a nice little "night cap" after working an eleven hour shift in retail. The drink is very warming, you can really feel it going down your throat! However, it's not unpleasant at all, and the flavoursome aftertaste is very long lasting.I am not good at describing flavours, it just tastes like "posh" whisky to me!I would recommend this drink. It's full of flavour and body!
Amazing flavours. Really nice to drink. Smooth. Goes down well. No afterburn like you can get with some whiskeys. Very enjoy drink to relax with in the evenings and weekend. Would go lovely for after a dinner party also. Definitely recommend to friends
This is a good whiskey to have on occasion and of an evening. It is quite peaty and does have a strong smoky flavour. When tasting alongside other whiskies the others were much preferred. It wouldn't be my first choice but might make a good sour or with a mixer.
I thought Laphroaig 10 year old whisky was very smokey and peaty tasting. I loved the initial smokey taste but didn't enjoy the ongoing aftertaste of it. It's not the smoothest 10 year whisky I've tasted, so I wouldn't buy it again. I think it looks great and I love the story behind it.I drank it neat, which was nice. I also tried it in a cream coffee, but really didn't like that as the smokey flavour didn't go well together.
I always enjoy a small glass of whisky, especially on a cold evening, which is perfect as it has been very cold recently! The presentation of this whisky is superb and I was impressed as soon as I received the bottle. The box it comes in is lovely and really adds to the quality drinking experience which you know you are going to get from such a prestigious drink. I drank the whisky as I usually would - neat with a couple cubes of ice. I found the whisky to be extremely smooth and you could tell that it was a high quality whisky from the way it went down. The only reason I have given this drink 4, rather than 5, stars is that it was slightly more petey than I sometimes like my whisky, but once I got used to this I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable drink.
