A bright gold colour. Laphroaig 18 Year Old has a soft toffee sweet nose with just a faint spicy flavour balances the trace of delicate phenols and fruit. A tight-knitted smoothness brings these all together. A splash of water allows the seaweed and salt flavours to come through, but not enough to overpower the vanilla and honey sweetness, and touch of new mown hay and peat. On the palate, an instant warming of smoke fades into smooth floral scents. This blends seamlessly into an oaky nuttiness and leaves a lasting sweet taste. Adding a touch of water, the peaty warmth fills the mouth whilst the sweet chocolate smoothness is preserved. This is balanced by the rich toffee taste which slowly fades into a delicate hint of heather and peat smoke. A full bodied whisky, with a long and luxurious oily smoothness. Made in limited quantities each year, Laphroaig 18 Year Old is savoured by a fortunate few. It is bottled at 48% ABV and is non-chill filtered for a depth of taste and texture.
